Bilateral THR Grateful Double Hippy

Hi Mojo333,
Good luck this week back at home. It really does feel so much more comfortable than elsewhere. Why don't you take some prunes and warm prune juice for the bowel issues? That seemed to be the best remedy for me.
Take care,
Diane

Mojo, thinking of you today as you head home. I'm sure you will be extra tired tonight but it will probably seem good to be home. You may even find you sleep better in your own bed. Don't worry about unpacking for a day or two and just relax. Let us know how it is going when you get a chance.

My poor old mattress was in need of replacing so my better half got a new great mattress. Just laid on it, haven't tried to sleep but yeah, really good to get home. Trying not to look at what needs done. Think I'm going to listen to my second mama and not even unpack anything!!!:smile2:

@Delphi I really want to not be a baby and drink some of that yucky stuff but I honestly can't do it. Got any idea of a good mixer that will mask that horrible overripe licoricey taste????

Mojo my hands tingle from laying in one position in beds that's how it has to be it up suxs... sleep is crazy agreed... I can't say I wouldn't feel anxiety attacks at being alone I come near it when I know my hubby is going to do lots of yard work and I'm in here...on my back by then cause I can't get off my low soft Livingroom furnature ...my point be... I get you.... I hear your feelings ..you don't have to be upbeat, perky, funny..... I get it ... Hugs

Constipation my doc said 2 pills to soften stool till I'm off meds and I found ....salads and beans finally did it WITH the softeners .... really helped

Image a few prunes, drank a small glass of prune juice and took some milk of magnesia. I think I took all that the same day and it worked TOO well :heehee:

You can mix the prune juice with fresh orange juice to make it less intense. That tasted ok to me.

The exact same thing happens to at night. With my hands and arms. Wonder why? That's so strange that you said that. We are really in the same place right now and I know it will get better, but anxiety does catch a hold of me when I have to be myself too much. I'm up.. It's 2 am. I got a cane. It's the right size and works good I think. Good for balance... But awkward switching back and forth.

Will try OJ w/ prune juice Delphi, wonder what you call that drink? TIJUANA Sunrise...I hope! I've been a little worried for the opposite effect Granny so maybe I'll try that first. I've been getting up and down from sitting better but don't want to be sitting overly long!!

Well things got to moving this morning, thank goodness, and though very stiff... Confident that it is going to be a good day!!! My new bed is the bomb... Even though couldn't last longer than 4 hours on it just because with both of these hips on the mend I'm confined to sleeping on my back which I've never done!! I can tell once I can sleep on my side I'm gonna have the best night sleep I've had in 5 years. You know, that's crazy. I didn't sleep over 3-4 hours per night because of my OA affected hips... so I am used to not being able to sleep... Lest we forget!

Maybe @Josephine has idea about what causes our arms and hands to tingle and fall asleep at night- MyAussieGirl - Most of the time my arms will be just by my side or folded across my chest... Nothing that should obstruct circulation?? Anybody else with that issue?

Going to make short appearance at food bank this morning...pick up some paperwork to take home (good idea GrannyC) and see my folks. Sure won't stay long.

It sounds like a busy but good day for you. I'm sure it will seem very good to see everyone, even for a few minutes. I have no ideas on the tingling and falling asleep issue. I do sleep better since I could lay on my side but I find I can't stay on the same side all night. I can sleep on nonopersted side for longer than surgery side but usually end up back on my back for a while towards morning and I still need to put a pillow under my surgery leg most times when I am on my back. It just feels better to do that for some unknown reason. And I still have to get up a couple times in the night for the bathroom which may be partly mind over matter. When I wake up, I figure I should get up and go so I don't wake back up so soon. The more you think about it, the more you are sure you should go. Crazy really. Enjoy your day!

I do the same when I wake up... Guess good we are drinking plenty. I figured I'd go up for no longer than 1/2 hour..best thing ..it is literally 7-8 min drive so I can be home quickly if need be...

I have a theory on the tingling arms and hands.
It happened to me a bit.
Is it the little finger on your hands and the next one that tingles most.
There is a nerve that runs from your shoulder through your elbow and into those two fingers.
I think when I was on my back I put pressure on this nerve and this caused numbness from elbow down to hand.
Anyway gone now.
Joe.....

It really is prevalent in mostly those fingers and whole hand. Sounds right to me. Have been doing alot of laying and reclining on shoulders. One of those things that will go away.

Well I stayed at work for few hours to accommodate 2 dietetic interns from the local University. Back home and work out.... But didn't overdo really. Brought some paperwork home. Fool with it later tonight when I can't sleep. Happy hippie 3 weeks today!

Usually what causes tingling and numbness in the arms and hands is nerve issues, not circulation.
And what causes it is

a) when you lay down at night, the fluid in the body tends to settle all like this bottle

[Bonesmart.org] Grateful Double Hippy

So your arms, which were generally uppermost in the body's position, become swollen and constrict the nerves in the wrist, elbow and even the shoulder. Hence the numbness and tingling. if you raised your arms a bit, the sensation would most likely settle

b) in your sleep you've lain with your forearm under the back of your head.
