I'm not a pro, so I am hoping others will weigh in on your question, Nancy, but I think you still need to do intentional strengthening exercises as well as biking to improve flexibility. I'm not one to talk because teaching leaves me exhausted, and I rarely do more than minimal exercising...occasional biking, lifting weight that I wrap around my ankle, quad sets, balancing on one leg and and high-knee marching. But not every day, and I've been told by someone I trust that I should. I stand and walk way too much at work...so by the time I go home, I only have energy to rest, elevate and ice. Today I walked in a beautiful wooded setting by a creek. My friend told me that her knee hurt so we wouldn't go far, but she planned to walk four miles. At one mile, I asked to turn back. I haven't walked two miles since right before surgery. I still have a lot of tightness, but I feel better than two months ago. We should encourage each other to keep up the exercise. I really do think it will make a difference. Have a wonderful, pain free (as much as possible) week.
