It's been a busy day! Aside from PT, I had my first real outing! Went out to eat with the majority of my family since my brother and his family are headed back to South Dakota tomorrow. I brought ice with me and when I needed to stretch, I walked around giving a ride to my 3 year old great niece on my walker. She put her teddy bear in the basket and loved the ride. It also gave her mom a little break. I also got to hold the newest member of our clan who is 2 months old. Not sure if I'll pay for it later, but it was fun.

So at PT today, my therapist said that I really needed to be working on my extension more and that I'm working on my flexion to the detriment of my extension. Hmmm, I thought. I have 4 extension exercises to my 1 flexion exercise at home. It took me awhile to figure it out, but the lightbulb did go on...I've been drinking way more water lately and that comes with consequences, but I never really considered that PT. :heehee:

My baby is now 13, but I also have a 20 year old (girl) and an 18 year old (boy). It's crazy to think that in just 5 years we could be empty nesters ( many colleges in the area to commute to). Most of our friends went to the opposite end of the spectrum and are still growing their families.

No muscle spasms after I used it. Had some while I used the left side. Didn't sleep well. Had to put my favorite dog to sleep yesterday after losing the other Monday. It's been a tough week. :(

Hurting this morning so will try the kneehab again. Was weird that the pain just disappeared.

@H2OPoloMom My husband is doing great. I only needed to do things for him the first few weeks. After 37 years we've grown use to taking care of eachother through the tough times. He doesn't need me to do anything for him, other than what I was doing before the surgery (laundry, clean house, etc.) I watch our grandson (3 years old), but don't have an outside job. Hubby isn't retired yet. He even made dinner last night and did the dishes. He has always liked cooking more than me. He is so bored, but isn't ready to go back to work. I have to keep reminding him to not overdo it.
Wow, what a husband you have. Here I am, 7 weeks after RTKA, and I am still totally dependent upon my wife, who is also 76 yrs. old. Still using cane and walker, still not sleeping, still lots of RICE, etc. Bless your hubby and you.

@Highpointer42 Hubby has a job that requires him to be up and down ladders, walk alot, etc. Because of this his legs are really strong, I think that has a lot to do with his amazing recovery. You also have almost 20 years on him. He still has sleep issues and still ices after PT ect. Every knee heals at it's own pace.

Oh no @msmechanic58! That's tough, I'm doubly sorry to hear about your dog- too soon, too soon.

I am glad that the kneehab is working for you! I'm a little concerned about the prospect of putting injured players back in play so soon even if they feel better sooner. Sounds like a recipe for repeat injuries.

@Highpointer42 if being dependent on your wife right now is what you need to do for the best outcome, then do it! In the long run, it will help you to take better care of her too. Sounds like you got the mantras down pat. Just out of curiosity, are you a Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fan (based on your user name)? If so, then don't panic! And always bring a towel:cheers:

Thank you. :( they were both young still.

I think it is to keep their quad muscles from atrophying so much so that their rehab is much quicker. I've been with my OS for 7 years and don't think he'd risk long term injury for a game. He's very protective if his patients. Even told me I was not to see the nurse practitioner in his own office because she told me I needed to strengthen my already strong quads.

Thank you. I am up and cooked myself lunch. In town now to pick son up from camp and tell him the news. :(

Hi @H2OPoloMom. Sounds like you had a busy day! That is a lot of activity for one day at your stage of recovery. You must have been happy but tired! I absolutely love babies as well, as long as I can give them back. I just love looking at all of their little parts - I am entirely amazed when I look at their feet, hands, ears, long fingers. It is so awe inspiring. My baby is 13 now and I am in no hurry to be a grandma (my oldest is 19) so I live vicariously through colleagues babies.

Anything you are doing for PT helps (even getting up and down from a seated position). I think it was @dogwheels that mentioned all of the exercises she incorporates into her everyday activities. Squats while cooking; a couple of lunges whenever she walks by the stairs, etc. I thought that was genius and will start doing that myself. I hope you get the flexion an

What are your plans for the weekend? Hope you have a good one!
