That is good news @H2OPoloMom. Keep doing what you're doing and things will continue to progress. I am six weeks this week and still on pretty regular pain meds but I see improvement every day. 2 weeks from tomorrow I will do it again on my right knee and I am looking forward to the results once recovery is complete.

Have a great day!

Well, gravity still works! I must have overdone it yesterday because I had some fierce swelling in my knee (although it didn't fell like a band like normal) and it drained down into my foot and ankle which looked like a marshmallow with grill marks since a my bruise drained down too. Gross and yet fascinating.

Had my first postoperative visit today and got my staples out. Most of them I couldn't even feel; a few caused a very slight pinching feeling. They put steri strips on and now I can shower without the Saran Wrap. Hurray! I did lose one of my pain killers today, so I'm basically down to Percocet which I can tell you is not enough. Norco does not work for me. Ice has become my new best friend, and I thought I was icing a lot before. I'm having more trouble sleeping now and it's difficult to get through my PT because I have about an hour out of every four where my pain level is below a 4- unless I am icing which I can't do while doing my exercises. Guess I'll have to figure it out...

Can you ask your OS about Tramadol, its non narcotic and very effective with tylenol. Best of luck and keep up the great work . Iceman

@icep707 thank you for the suggestion! I will ask when I call later today. I've gone from being fairly comfortable and sleeping so well day or night to teary eyed because I can't get comfortable, and can't sleep because of the pain. This can't be good for the healing process physically or mentally! Watching the clock until my next dose:bored:

If you are in that much pain, then you need more pain meds. I hope your OS will get you some. I use Tramadol and Tylenol and it works well for me.

Call your family physician and ask for something stronger...I am so sorry you are in pain. Not sleeping causes extra problems. Eventually that will work its self out. Hope its soon.

Always start with your OS, but if they are unsympathetic your GP is a fallback.

I called this morning and they are doubling the dose of my Percocet. Thank goodness they let my son pickup and get the prescription filled. Now I'm just waiting for my 4 hours to be up so I can take it. Thank you for all the replies!

Feeling human again. The higher dosage seems just enough to be comfortable, but not too much that I overdo it. Made it through my PT exercises and did my straight leg lifts without any help. Yeah me:yes!:

Feeling human again

That is great that you are comfortable again; your body will know when the pain meds are no longer needed.

And two thumbs up for the drs office responding to your request that you needed more. :thumb::thumb:
So many times we hear about drs who refuse to script more pain meds when it seems obvious to the rest of us and the patient that the meds are needed.

Happy that you are feeling better. It is difficult to do anything when you are in that much pain.

Thank you @71Beetle! Your 2nd surgery falls on my son's birthday, so I will be sure to toss some prayers your way for a smooth surgery! I have been blessed with some really great doctors! My GP even called a few days after I got home to make sure that everything was going well. I hope that you are as lucky as I am in that regard!

This is what I have learned this week: chunking my physical therapy is bad. Friday, I had my last at home PT in the morning and we spent an hour doing stretches and strengthening of my quads. Later in the afternoon, I made it through my entire list of exercises and stretches. I felt pretty proud of myself until Saturday when I spent most of the day icing and elevating and maybe a few heel slides. It was my daughters birthday and we normally go out to eat but because of my "success" we did takeout and I barely survived eating my whole meal at the kitchen table. So today, I attempted something different. I never did more than 2 or 3 stretches at a time and spaced them throughout my day. I won't know for sure until tomorrow, but I think this is going to be a better strategy for me.
