Well Debbie,

I have a high bed, with a portable air conditioner sitting on the step stool I was using. Now, I could move that air conditioner, it is very light but noooo.... I just raise my body up belly side down and roll into bed! What a sight I must be. My knee isn't too fond of my plan, but I have learned to have a pillow ready where that knee will land. Gives a whole new definition of "having a roll in the hay!" :rotfl:

Off the coumadin so now I can take ibuprofen and tylenol and throw in a couple tramadol wait for an hour and then tried out my recumbent bike. I have tried several other times and just couldn't do it. But went down to my workout room and tried again. First minute or two, the left hip was raising up off the seat, but eventually settled down and peddled for 10 minutes. It is a start. The weather is beautiful outside and went for a walk too. We live in the country and I told my husband if I wasn't back in a half hour to come look for me. But made it back. Maybe, just maybe there is hope for me yet. Today is my one month anniversary of the birth of my new knee.

Judy, not good at all. It is so hard for me to see this man like this. I mean in the almost 37 years we have been married I have never seen him in this much pain. He sees the spine surgeon tomorrow morning and I am going with him. Going to make sure he gets some better pain control until they can do something for him. But I also told him if they give him a more powerful drug, that he won't be able to drive to the farm and work (we live 3 miles from our farm). Thanks for asking.

Great to hear of your progress, Debbie. I hope things go well for your husband when you visit the surgeon.

I know how you feel about seeing him in pain. My hubby is beginning to feel he won't be able to make it to his surgery date. Not too long now-the 24th and 27th. And, of course, his condition is so much worse than mine was, there is no way of knowing just how he will do. I always hope for the best--he's a bit more pessimistic. Keep us posted on both of you.

Debbie, I'm so glad you are doing well!! I am sorry your poor husband is suffering so. I hope the spinal specialist can get him some relief. I know you must be so concerned for him. My prayers for him Debbie.

Just got done with PT and finally seemed to tolerate the bike pretty well and then measured flexion at 101. There is hope for me yet. I only had one more therapy appointment for this week scheduled, but he wants me to come in twice next week too.
Went with my husband to his appointment and he will be having spinal surgery on Oct 2nd which happens to be our 37th wedding anniversary. Now isn't that romantic...LOL Oh well, if it helps him get better. He got a new script for percocet, so hope that helps him more. It involves his C5 and C6 vertebrae. Now just have to wait.

Hi Deb, I just caught up on your posts. I happy that PT went well and you're making some progress. We knew you would! :thumb:

I'm glad your hubby is going to get relief from his painful neck. Do you know what they are going to do? Are they doing laser or something else. I look forward my visit with my spine & neck OS on Thursday and I must tell you I'm getting quite anxious about it! My hubby is coming with me too.

Oh, Debbie, what a way to spend your anniversary!! But like you said, if this will help the poor fellow to be pain free, then it has to be. Just think.. When he is recovered, you and he can have a real celebrations! His neck will be better, your knee will be better, and then, a celebration anniversary/recovery dinner out is in order. Romance.... Hmmm, that may surprise you then too!! :martini:

Debbie,
Glad to see you are making progress with PT, sound like you are doing great.
What procedure is your husband having? By the way my last neck surgery was also on our anniversary. If I can be of any help (since I have had 2 of them) please don't hesitate to ask, we are here for you for whatever is going on.

Jackie, I am not sure exactly what they are going to do as I had to leave for PT before the surgeon came in to talk to him. I was there when the PA was there testing him. All I know is they are going through the front of his neck and I think putting some metal and screws in there. Good luck to you on Thursday and keep us posted.

How many of you guys dream about your knees? Last night I had a dream about flexion. I was sitting on my bed and it is a high bed and my leg was hanging down in a 90 degree angle which I can do and someone was in my bedroom and I was complaining to them that people didn't think I had enough flexion, so I got off the bed and pulled my knee up behind me so it touched my butt. I woke up and thought I could still do that...LOL Just a dream, but maybe a premonition.....

I dreamt about bending my knee all the way to my butt two different times. I can distinctly remember the second one and it did not hurt one bit, didn't even feel tight. It was awesome!! Then I woke up. I have great ROM, but I really do hope that I can get it back to where I can bend it that much. It will really help when I go to stand up on my snowboard.

Debbie,

Tell your hubby I wish him well on the neck surgery! I have a ruptured disc at the c-5 and spondosis going on so itis not much fun. Sometimes when I turn my neck I can hear and feel the discs cruching together. Not much fun, but the doctor has decided for the time being that I can wait. He wants to make sure that MRSA is gone forever before we do anything and I agree. :heehee:

Thanks Debbie, wishing the best for you hubby. I read about that procedure on the web and the outcome was really good.
I look forward to hearing more about your recovery! You are doing really well! :thumb:

Stay well and stay positive my friend! :friends:

Good for you Debbie. You will get there!
And 37 years married, wow, quite impressive!

Just had my appointment with my surgeon and there was no mention of a MUA :thumb: Not a lot of talking about anything. He just put the x-rays up and said they looked good. He asked what my flexion was and I told him. I told him how the therapist tied me to the bike and he got this big grin on his face and I am thinking he is thinking of the Book....50 Shades of Grey.... I told him that I told him no more tying me up to any bikes and doc said he could tie me up to other things.... I had wanted a cortisone shot in my shoulder but he wants me to wait three more weeks for that. He says too soon from the surgery. So will go back in three weeks and I am sure he will ask how I am doing in PT again. Here are my x-rays

Just flipping out over your nifty new knee! Looking good there, Debbie. Your OS sounds a bit wicked.

Dear Deb and Judy,
Awwww, I hope that your hubbys feel better. It's so hard to see our husband's in pain. I hope that they both have very successful surgeries.
Hugs to you both!
