THR Cpollock Surgery June 19, 2017<

@cpollock ..Sorry it has taken me so long to post. I have been quite pre-occupied with family issues.

I followed your pre-op posts regularly as you were experiencing the same kind of anxiety that I have been experiencing.

Just wanted to let you know that I have been following your recovery on a daily basis. Despite what I am sure is a temporary pain setback, I am glad that your recovery has gone well so far:heehee:

Please take care...

@Lerwick8 thank you. The one thing I've learned is to express how you feel and that relieves a lot of the anxiety. And ask questions. I have no regrets and value all the advice I have received and taken from the bonesmart family. You will be fine and I look forward to following your recovery also. I'm sorry about all your family issues at the moment and having to postpone your surgery. I wish you all the best. Cheryl

My left side area between my belly button and groin has been giving me stabbing pain off and on as well. Does that have something to do with those exercises I did or maybe my pelvis Shifting?
"pelvis shifting" is not something I think can or would happen. What you are describing has almost definitely been caused by exercises such as clamshells, abduction or marching, all of which you can see in here BoneSmart philosophy for sensible post op therapy. And this is exactly why I am so vocal against them.

Thank you @Josephine. I'm just coming around now. I have not done any exercises since yesterday and have been elevating and icing. I'm quite swollen too, more than I was before the physio appointment on Tuesday. I've learned a valuable lesson and you are right. I will be following your advice and thank you for taking the time to address my concerns. Cheryl

Good news you're feeling better, Cheryl. This site holds valuable information. I'm so glad we have one another.
A great weekend to you!

@Layla this site sure does have valuable information. And great supportive friends that have been there. And Josephine has so much knowledge and advice too from all her experience. I hope you have a great weekend too. Cheryl

@cpollock I missed a day or two on here sorry. Wow I hate heatwave.... I like it hot by day cool at night. So glad you slept well.... Sorry be be brief but it's late here. I am trying to catch up... In stores even now I love shopping carts it's like a walker that will hold all my stuff. I never used the riding kinds afraid I'll run into someone

Day 19 update: I had a pretty good sleep. I got up at 4am to use the washroom and got more ice a d back to bed til 7. So I had about 8 hours.

My pain is better and I feel ok. I'm going to do more walking today and see how that goes. I have 3 more days for the lovenox needle yet, my blood thinner, then that's done. My lower tummy looks like a pin cushion and some bruising.

I have stiffness but no pain when I walk. I will be careful of the PT for now on, I spent a lot of time laying around with ice and pain because of it. Way too aggressive a start. It's important to listen to our bodies.

With me I suffered for 8 years with the last year in the severe stage. I was limping so badly and using a cane so my recovery may be slower than some that had their surgeries sooner. It is what it is and I must be patient, baby steps. I'm just so thankful the awful osteoarthritis bone on bone pain is gone.

I hope you are all doing well in your recoveries. All the best to you. Cheryl

You are living proof each and every recovery is different. Great attitude - it may take you a bit longer since you limped around pre-op. But you'll get there! Still early days!

Hi @cpollock -love it like your lower tummy looks like a pun cushion!!!

You will have to tell me some of them - I am doing a gig on Sunday and could with some decent ones .....

Well done with your recovery to date - looking good

Best wishes
Peter

@cpollock...I hear ya!!! Everytime the PT thinks I am doing so good he adds another exercise...if in so it and have pain ....when he comes again I tell him I cut that one out and just went back to what didn't bother me...with stairs all day to bathroom and walking every couple hours I am not pushing it either...soon I will be going as out patient rehab also...we know our bodies well...I am so glad you are doing well!! I am sure with every new movement or exercise we might have a set back...going back to the icing and rest and elevation helps...continued great recovery!:)

@Donnarita how many exercises are you supposed to be doing each day and how many times. I agree, we need to listen to our bodies and allow them to heal. I ice lots, I'm constantly changing out the gel packs. I've been walking around the house more today too. I wish you well. Cheryl

Cheryl he has me do ankle pumps rolling back and forth holding on to my sink...marching in place...side leg lifts. ....all 3 sets of 10...them I go to my stairs and tap the 2nd step 30 times with good foot to put weight on operated leg...then I do lunges hold 20 seconds 3 times stretching operated leg...then walk sideways on operated side from front door to kitchen 3x...all these exercises I do morning afternoon and at night..then I walk 10 to 15 min every 2 to 3 hrs....if I feel I have pain I don't do the exercises as much but I love the walking....I am sure when I get to out patient rehab I will do even more strengthing....I found xlarge gel packs for hips I use a lot also...I have the dermabond glue so no staples...but my Dr did my surgery by computer imaging so I have another incision on top that healed great from a scope for the camera to go in....thank God we don't know anything lol!!! Continued good recovery to you!! Keep posting :)))))))

I know.....the other day I told him I am not doing it all....Hahahahaha he said ok...I am listening to me!!!
