MUA CATSMUM's new road to recovery

@Raffs I'm certain it's the healing process making our scars tender and a little sore.

Had a lovely lunch out, it was lovely to meet up with my colleagues from work after all this time. Spoke about my eventual return to work, so if all goes well, 3 weeks today, l should be able to start working from home for a couple of hours. I used a disposable ice pack in the restaurant which worked very well. For those in the UK it as a koolpak instant pack, kept cold for about 30 minutes so was ideal. Bought them from eBay and paid extra for the cover that it slipped into. Will definitely make them (and the cover) to London at the weekend for the wedding.

Sun has just come out here but l expect he rain is just around the corner. The feline is still preferring to come in through an open door but is able to operate his flap when necessary!!

That's good to hear. Glad you had a nice time. Ice pack sounds good, do you think the cover is essential? You'll have to report back on the other brands you bought. Been pouring here, got soaked on the way to the dentist. Hmm, feline is messing with you, lol!! Typical of his kind!!!!

@Raffs He's particularly lazy and prefers to be let in if we're around!! The cover allows you to strap the ice pack to the knee without it falling down. If you already have something you could put round it or just want to put it on your knee when you're resting, then I'd say there's no need for a cover to be purchased. Incidentally, the pack is still quite cool so although they say 20 minutes l think you could use for longer. I also find that my cryo cuff is quite cold after taking it off so will probably take that too. Will report back on my Ben 10 packs and the other ones l bought in due course,!

Yep, typical moggie!! The cover sounds like a very good idea. You'll look lovely at the wedding with Ben 10 packs on your knee!!

Had a fairly good day, not done very much as knee was very sore after my trip out yesterday and settled down overnight - used a combination of heat and ice on it. Think I will be having my last Physio session tomorrow, off to London for a wedding on Friday so will be resting up on Friday morning before we go!

Hope you enjoy the wedding

Thank you, trialling various instant cold packs at the moment!

Physio today, left knee playing up a little, keep pulling a ligament in my knee, might mention it to the Physio and just get her to check it out. My knee class starts next week, looking forward to getting back to normal.

@CATSMUM sounds like things are going great for you. Have a wonderful weekend at the wedding!! What is your knee class? Like a group exercise class? And back to work in 3 weeks, sounds like life is heading towards normal and that good. Now if only your cat would cooperate lol!

@bdink21 Thankyou, just need to decide which outfit I'm going to wear! The knee class is held by the Physios from the hospital l had my tkr in and basically helps you strengthen your muscles and shows you how to look after your implant. Also do some very gentle Pilates, balancing exercises and they check your knees regularly to ensure all's well, especially as, over here, we don't have much follow up Physio. I did the class after l had my left knee replaced and it helped so much. You're not allowed to join one until you're deemed fit enough. No weights or anything that could injure a knee, just gentle exercise.

Just had my final Physio session at the hospital. ROM measured at 105 which is good after my fall and I now have 0 extension which came as a nice surprise as l didn't think l was there yet! Physio was very happy with my progress. Now discharged from hospital completely, feel as if I've finally turned that corner. Onwards and upwards now.

Brilliant!! Especially the extension. Well done. You must be very pleased. Great news before the wedding and your knee class next week.

@Raffs Was extremely happy with my progress. Going to be leaving here tomorrow about noon, going to have to stop on the M3 for a break l think. Ordered superfast broadband at the Premierinn so hopefully will be able to make full use of it!

You'll definitely need a break! Looking forward to super fast updates throughout the weekend!!

Are you there yet?? How was the journey? Hope the traffic was kind. Any reports re the different ice packs?

@Raffs Arrived at the hotel about 3.45pm. Stopped for a knee stretch and iced it all the time at up. Very stiff knees at the moment. Relaxing in bed - hubby has gone with the gang for drinkies into the city. He did bring me back to the hotel before going back to the restaurant to join them all again. Feeling very tired.

Hope you get a good rest tonight ready for tomorrow. Did you get your ice packs from eBay? Update tomorrow if you can with how it's going.
