THR Cassidy's hopalong recovery<

Hey Cassidy. Do hope hubby gets bp or whatever sorted so you can get away from the hospital.
I really don't like them either.
Was at the hospitals with my father quite about after my surgery and really got to detest it.
But they definitely have to get him situated...you can't be trying to have him or pick him up if he goes down!
My hips don't feel artificial either...

Happy One Month Anniversary! Missed it yesterday.
I hope you got some restorative rest last night.
Hoping it's a better day for hubs, without any drama.
Wishing you two could get back home together soon.
Hugs
@Cassidy

Thank you @Layla. I was worried how I was going to pass the time for six weeks, and if nothing else this with my husband has certainly made the time pass! I think I'm going to let him sleep downstairs in my recliner @Mojo333, then I can go upstairs to the grown up big bed - promotion! I've bought him a "bottle" to wee in at night for a few days, so he won't have to stumble around in the dark!!

He was a lot brighter today, so all he's got to do now is stand up without falling down!

Aaaaw...and giving up your recliner for him.
Boy does he owe you a special something something when this is all done.
Best thing he can do is get well, right?
You be careful and no falling down.
Sending all the best to you both!:loveshwr:

Thanks @SurreyGirl. I keep wondering where your hippie hotel is, because you're not far from me me Iand I'm sure there's nowhere around here that would give such good service. Hope you're still progressing well.

I got sleeping tablets from my GP when my husband was first admitted, because I wasn't sleeping more than 2 hours a night, and they run out tomorrow. I'm slightly dreading going back to lying awake because of a combination of back sleeping and stress - I've been managing around 6 - 7 hours a night with the tablets, with no appreciable side effects. Although I get pretty whacked by afternoon, I'm not able to doze - probably too much adrenaline at the moment. I don't know when he's coming home, and I'd try to do without once he's back, but can't decide whether to ask the GP for another week's worth or grin and bear it (it says in the blurb that it's all right to take for 28 days for insomnia). Any views, anybody, please?

You have so much on your plate. I would have a discussion with your GP and make sure he understands why you are asking for a refill on your tablets. You will need these especially if you are changing from your recliner to your bed.

Just one question - do these tablets knock you out totally? Once hubby is home you might want to hear if he needs help downstairs. Maybe get him a bell or have him ring your mobile?

I did think l'd try to do without them when he was first home, @Jaycey, although I only sleep until around 3 from midnight, then potter to the loo then go back to bed - main difference is when I go back to bed I actually go back to sleep! So I don't think they knock me out entirely.

I've had a chat with the receptionist - trying to speak to the GP on the day I ring would be like trying to get through to speak to Elton John for example (don't know why I chose him!), and she's going to request another week's worth, so at least I've got it as back up mentally. I don't generally rely on medication, but then this isn't a usual scenario for me!

I did suggest to him that we have our mobiles to hand anyway, as either of us could need help - what a pair of old crocks! I would never have thought of us being so delapidated, even 6 weeks ago.

Not! You just hit a bad patch. Soon you will both be mended and living life again. Hope hubby's light headed feeling is easing.

Cassidy the patient and Cassidy the nurse.
You're juggling a lot. You'll need your sleep.
Laughing at yourself as a couple of old crocks will get you through.
I found laughter some of the best medicine in recovery and often thought of myself
as a pathetic old thing. Walker, cane, grabbers etc. Makes you feel old before your time.
A good practice run for sure. You're a strong woman, Cassidy!
I hope today is a good one!
@Cassidy

I agree that you need to take care of yourself first, or you won't be able to help hubs when he gets home. Don't be afraid to take the sleep aids if needed.

Continue to read and follow your journey as well as saying prayers for you and hubs. Just remember this is all temporary!

Take care!

Thanks you lot!! I was trying to send my mother some news, and it occurred to me that my life is all about hospitals, hips and hearts - how boring!! I'm really looking forward to getting some life back to make my news more interesting again. Not that my day to day life before was madly exciting, but we don't realise how much more exciting it was until real Groundhog Day sets in!

You certain,y aren’t “old crocks”by any stretch of the imagination! We all hit rough patches in our life and yours both just happened to come at the same time. In another month or so, you’ll both be back to your old selves and feeling so much better than you did before all this - more like a “spring chicken” :heehee: Sending healing wishes your way for you both! :yes!::flwrysmile:

I hope today is a good one, Cassidy.
Hubs getting released soon?
It will be great when you can both rest comfortably at home away from all the hospital interruptions.
Hopefully soon.
@Cassidy

Hi Cassidy - I agree with Layla...as both patient and caregiver, you must take especially good care of your self at this time in order to care for hubs too. It sounds like you are thinking about all you will need and planning. Be sure to let others help and be prepared with ideas of how they can. I hope he's stable and home soon. Wishing a good and healthier day for you both.

:wave:Hoping all is well and maybe you both are home.
Hope your weekend is restful!
:yes:

Haven't heard from you in a few days. Understandable.
I'm sure you're feeling tired and overwhelmed.
Hopefully hubs is home and you two are catching up on the rest you both badly need and deserve.
Hugs

Just a quick update. Husband is still in hospital having tests as to why he faints after standing for any length of time. They moved him back to the Cath Lab on Friday and put him on a 3 day monitor, so at least they're watching him carefully; I did feel a few days were wasted last week when he sat in his bed and nothing happened. As he says though, his wound is healing and his appetite has come back, so there has been some progress. He'll have been in hospital for 3 weeks tomorrow.

It was my older daughter's birthday yesterday, so after visiting my husband she and my younger daughter took me to the local shopping centre, where we hired a wheelchair and they pushed me around for a while and we stopped for ice cream and tea, which was a real break. We had a takeaway and played silly games in the evening, so I felt much better mentally by bedtime. My life had narrowed to sickness and hospital wards.

I see the consultant tomorrow, so he may say I can drive! Only thing I have to bear in mind is that I must use parking spaces where nobody can block me in - there'll be no wriggling in from the passenger side for a while at least!

Hope you're all having an enjoyable, but relaxing, weekend.
