TKR Careful! There Be Dragons Here! <

Bill I'm so glad your surgeon was reasonable with your request to wait. 4 weeks to suggest an MUA is way too early. Keep doing you, things will progress.

Bill what an intresting man you are !!

Just now getting caught up on recent posts and was happy to hear your surgeon respected your decision regarding the MUA. I know once my surgeon agreed to my request for additional time I walked out of his office 'hoping' I had made the right decision to hold off on it. I have been so programmed to believe the surgeon knows best! If you look down in my signature you will see my ROM continues to improve! I'm about to break 100 any time now! I haven't done any exercising at all- only what my farm chores require. But I can tell by certain things that it's improving- like my golf cart for example. Now I can get in and use the 'go' pedal with NO pain. And that first 6wks I couldn't. Tomorrow I'm 10wks and am so happy I chose to hold off on my MUA! Can't wait to hear when yours increases Bill-!

Love your new Thread Title!! = )

I hope you're continuing to do well and gaining that ROM since you've kicked PT to the curb! You'll see it'll come naturally now! Less is more!

@Nvstig8tr, how's it going Bill? Hopefully you're enjoying your time off from PT and feeling your baby knee starting to loosen up!

I had some scary dreams the first night-I had similar when I had preeclampsia when giving birth to my last child. I woke up and tried to focus on the dream I had that morning-that I was walking through a beautiful field looking for a Hereford cow I wanted to purchase on Craigslist. That helped.

As far elevating your leg, no one attempted to do that for me (I thought because of the inflated thingies and the ice machine). My doc's brand new baby PA (he looks 16) came along and said, "you need that leg elevated", and he did it just like the pic on bonesmart- it's been like that ever since!

Sorry for my delayed responses everyone! I've been moping around, expecting the magic to happen, but so far NOTHING!

@Dawni - Others have called me "strange" but I'll take "interesting" any day! :)

@LaylaHips - Re: "your legs look great!" - LOL. I get that from all the ladies. :egypdance:

@Suz / @sistersinhim - It seems like I'm making no progress at all.

My OS recommended another PT who is private practice and he apologized profusely for my bad experience with PT in those early weeks. The new PT is Nigerian and very unassuming in his demeanor. First thing he said to me, "No one knows your body better than you do" and he assured me that he had no intentions of hurting me or pushing me beyond my comfort zone. I'm going to give him a try. I'm 6 weeks post-op and really seem stuck right now.

Hi Bill, I'm so sorry you feel stuck at six weeks, I'm stuck at twelve weeks. We'll be stuck together!
Good luck with your new PT.

Bill I'll be stuck with you and Tabby both - I'm at 18 weeks and I have hit a wall for several weeks now - pain, stiffness all around the knee and inside of the knee feeling really bizarre. Lets hope things move along for each of us. Head up, patience and hope

I'm with you. It's the same old same old.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling encouraged right now Bill. I continue to believe your improvement is on it's way. I know I've said this before but at 6wks I was swollen and unable to bend beyond 50*s. Overnight it began to improve and today I'm 102*s and walking w/o a limp. I hope you can find a positive place again in your recovery as I know it must be so frustrating feeling as if you're stuck.

Second evening in a row I've walked 1 mile in the neighborhood! Even though my range of motion is not where it needs to be, I was able to make a tiny start toward my goal of 5 miles per day. Oh, I carried my cane with me just in case, but I didn't use it for walking. Just a little insurance if I needed it. 6 weeks post-op this Tuesday.

Oh, you are doing so great. I still can't get walking the way I use to. When the hurting starts I turn around and head for home. I will be so happy when I can walk a mile!

@Floridagal, According to my fitbit I walk over a mile every day and sometimes as much as 2 1/2! But, this is all day long, up and down, so Amy Jo, I bet you are doing at least that much and probably a lot more. You sound much more active than I am and those steps add up to miles! @Nvstig8tr that ROM will come with all that walking you're doing. It will increase naturally without you even trying hard!

You are right @sistersinhim. The other day I had over 4,000 steps. I just want to do it all at once! Ya, I know I have to be patient. That's not a virtue I possess. Today I am being a slug and already have .5 mile just by taking the dog out and walking around the house.
