Hi Butterfly have you tried the Bach remedies? They are natural flower recipes and they can really help. There is the rescue remedy, which you can buy over the counter or if you go onto their website there are loads of specific remedies, I suggest the White Chestnut for unwanted thoughts. I used it when I had breast cancer, never been into this type of thing before but it definitely helped me. Take care x

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I stopped by to visit on the Gosh Porch. There's quite a gathering now. I'm not much of a cook so I bought a pavlova on my way over. I hope everyone is getting on ok.

ByGosh, you have had such a time of it lately, I hope things are settling down for you. Are you seeing any small improvement in your hips? I really do hope so.

zauberflöte, congratulations on your news!

Butterfly, thinking of you, not long to go now and you will soon join us on the road to recovery. Hang in there!

Well, I didn't bring anything with me to the GoshPorch today. It is pouring down rain here today -- I mean REALLY pouring, so I thought trying to carry anything and using a walker would be probably too much in the pouring rain. I'll bring something good next time. Glad the weather is better here at the Porch. Just dropped by to see what was going on. Nice crowd on the porch today (you're gonna need a bigger porch, soon, maybe your Goshhusband could get a couple of his buddies together and enlarge it for us is we promised them some great food and drink!) and everyone looks great! My walker is a bit of an eyesore, but I'll be rid of it one day.

ByGosh I hope your daughter is recovering well from her surgery. SO glad she got a good outcome.. And I hope your husband is doing well, also. You've had so much to try to cope with all at once, on top of your pain. Are you getting any relief in your hips? You're a courageous woman.

octopus Thanks for your good thoughts. I'm still hanging in, tho sometimes by a thread, it seems. I am SUCH a coward it is embarrassing, but I'm still putting one foot ahead of the other (well, more or less).

zauberflöte A belated congratulations on the all the good news from your children. You are blessed.

Littlejem Thanks for the reminder about the flower remedies. I hadn't thought of them in a while. I think I will pick up some of that White Chestnut -- 'cause I sure have unwanted thoughts right now.

Just wanted to drop by and say hello and see how everyone was doing and get a dose of the love and support that's always here on the Porch!

Peace and love to all.

Hello :) I have been MIA due to our election period... Just checking in with you :)

Hi ByGosh and everyone else! Just dropping in to see how things are going these days. It's been pretty busy here. I am the Commander of our church's Awana group (a children's ministry) and we started this week. I was sooooooo happy to be able to walk the halls without the awful pain of last year. What a difference! (Although I did go right to bed when I got home and iced my hip.....I'm sure that will improve each week) This weekend I will be up to my eyeballs in the Ps....cannning pears and processing pumpkins. I'll bring some pumpkin spice muffins to the Goshporch next week! It's a beautiful sunny day here today, not too hot and that blue, blue September sky. The trees are just barely starting to turn color, won't be long now. I think I will take a break at some point and take a short walk in the woods across the road. Have a great day!

Hi ByGosh and everyone who visits the porch. I am in PA right now and it is entirely too cold to sit on mine. I am bringing some warm spiced cider and my crockpot to the Goshporch to go with sqwerlie 's muffins.

LeeApril26 really?? Cold?? Wow! It was supposed to be cooler here and less humid today but rained on and off all day. I think it's finally cooling down now. The showers kept happening, so I didn't get my walk around the block today to keep the ol' hips moving!
Littlejem really? Bach remedies? I read that and thought, well, yeah, I'm playing a piece by Bach on Sunday that includes a short pedal solo, which certainly exercises the hips...... What do you think, zauberflöte?:rotfl:

LeeApril26 So are you in New York now, or are you visiting somewhere else? 53 is pretty chilly for NYC this time of year, no? I'm actually ready for some cooler weather -- I am not a big fan of heat (and here I live in the middle of the desert -- what was I thinking?). The last few days have been mild, though, we've gotten a lot of rain, which cooled it off. I don't like freezing cold weather, either, and I dread winter heating bills. Guess I'm just a picky weather person -- I'd like it to be late May or early June all year round (Well, September is nice, too, when you can get out and enjoy the cool mornings).

Peace and love to you

Butterfly I am in NE Pennsylvania, where we have a cabin in the woods. (There are wild turkeys, deer, raccoons and bears in those woods!) We had a cold spell come in with high winds and rain yesterday, and it went towards NYC after it blew through. It is 55 degrees in NYC right now, and about the same here. Should be warming up into the 60s this afternoon. I love having four seasons, but now that I have a new hip I am a bit more worried about ice and snow than I used to be. I've always wanted to visit New Mexico.

Hi, ByGosh ... how are you? I've been hoping you and your family are doing okay. Your daughter and husband. Don't worry if you can't check in, but let us know when you are able to and in the meantime, know how much we all care.

I will bring anything with maple, pumpkin, apples, or a combo. This is my favorite time of year, and that includes food wise. I saw a recipe online for roasted peaches with maple and walnuts that sounds really good.

LeeApril26, how's the foliage where you are?? Hope it's a crispy coolness and not too cold. NYC is glorious. Of course earlier this week it was hellish with the heat and humidity. One predictor of a low-pain day for me is when the weather is awful! Pretty funny. I have to do some type of walking on my lunch breaks or I will go nuts, so I went out despite the heat and then when it was hot and raining with thunderstorms. Today I am sore, but the weather is perfect for walking. Oh, well.

I hope everyone is being visited by nice fall weather, however sporadic.

Peaches Yum. Roasted peaches sound delicious. The maple leaves are beginning to turn, but everything else is green. The sun just came out after three days of rain and dropping temperatures-still in the 50s. The drop from 93 to 53 in two days is weird.

LeeApril26 ... I meant grilled, not roasted. Either sounds good to me, too. Here's the site:

I was trying to find a more appetizing looking avatar, but found these yummy recipes. Great photos, too. And the avatar reminds me of our pal Liveringer, who I hope is doing well and slinging those horseshoes right and left!

Peaches Horseshoe slinging went fairly well this summer. Now between now and next July will get myself conditioned for the World Tournament that will be literally held in my own back yard. LOL
Things are going very well, back to work put in lots of extra hours. 7 hours a day half of it was doing computer work for my supervisor. I notice things every couple of weeks to where I can do something with a little more ease. I for sure have no complaints and I hope all is well with my other hipsters.

Hi, Liveringer ... so good to hear from you. That sounds really exciting for you to have that world tourney in your own backyard. That will be a great way to celebrate your new hip's one-year anniversary (or thereabouts). I remember you had a very physical job at the school, so I'm glad that some of your new workday is sitting down for a while. That will help.

Some of us do still have some complaints, though by that I mean pain or setbacks or being sidelined a bit. I'll speak only for me, of course, but the operated hip seems to be doing really well. Strong and sturdy and any pain with it is only from overdoing it sometimes. I think about it every time I go out and walk and feel so thankful to my surgeon for giving me this great hip. I never take my new hip for granted! I love it. Because ... LOL ... it is really having to do double-duty, since THE OTHER HIP seems to have gone downhill. It's hurtin' like the old one did. So I am not back to normal life like I was long before surgery. But at least the new hip is working well till i can figure out what or when to do the other hip.

We all learned from BoneSmart that it ain't a straight and narrow road after this hip surgery thing.

Take care and keep us posted. Horseshoes or horseshow slinging will always make me think of you. :)

A big HELLO to ByGosh! Thinking of you every day and hoping you are able to find some relief.
I also wonder if your daughter is back at school, or is it a litltle soon. And how is GoshHusband?
Sending hugs your way.

You whooooo! ByGosh.... Just dropping by to spend a quiet moment on the Gosh Porch... How are things going in your part of the world?

ByGosh Just dropped by the Goshporch to say I hope you and your daughter and husband are doing well. Is your daughter all recovered from her surgery and having a great time at college?

Also to ask everyone on the Goshporch to give me a group hug and prayers and good thoughts as I am quite anxious leading up to my surgery on Monday the 30th.

Save my place on the cruise!

Peace and love to all.

Hi ByGosh hoping all is well with you and your family.I have been thinking about you.

Butterfly You will also be in my thoughts and prayers.Sending you all my good wishes from over the pond for Monday and look forward to hearing from you on the postop side.It is very natural to be anxious in the days leading up to surgery but it does improve once you have had the operation and you can just concentrate on your recovery and getting away on that cruise of course.
