Good for you. What's important -- as you know -- is walking. My surgeon is a big advocate of this and, like yours, doesn't think PT is needed. With my hip replacement last year, I waited until I was several month post-op and had plenty of mobility before I saw a PT -- and then, it was because I had some soft tissue problems that needed his "tweaking."I don't think that I am going to go to outpatient PT.

This is considered normal because recovery varies from person to person and some continue to experience muscle weakness, stiffness and discomfort for a full year and possibly even longer. Try to reduce an activity that aggravates it and stick with gentle movement. You can still ice at eight months post op, if you're not already. My only real complaint is the glute/buttock soreness/pain that I'm still experiencing.
I suspect this is exactly what is going on, because it's what happened to me.I have my 3-month follow-up with my surgeon next Tuesday, so I'll bring it up everything to him. I've not done any outpatient PT so I may need to work on the muscles around my hips and glutes.
