glynis My daughter and I both loved the story about a fantasy country and the word Ruritarian now being used for that genre of novel. We'll be getting some of Anthony Hope's books from the library just to see what they're like.
I could use some light fantasy reading now even though they seem to be for a younger crowd.

ha, you may out royal me anytime, I loved the story, so they are quite boring really and like a good scandal like the rest of us eh!! :)
I also loved your story about Graham and the royals! It's as Littlejem said, or at least that's what your husband seemed to think of their shenanigans. He did not appear to be impressed.
I myself would love to hear 'from the horse's mouth' something exciting and scandalous about someone famous. I guess I'm more easily amused about that sort of thing than your husband is.

ByGosh Saw the picture of the pilgrims in front of St. James-such a nice shot. I was amused by her post that if they can't figure out what to do now that the pilgrimage is over they will walk on the treadmill at the hotel. Nice sense of humor.
Hope you have some useful info from your tests by now. Take care.

Thanks for your lovely compliments ByGosh. I have to confess the city is a stamp, I'm not sure it's any particular city. I haven't seen the OS since I got the thrombophlebitis, but the doctors I have seen and the specialist team at the hospital are happy with the treatment plan. I don't have to wear stockings. The vein is called a superficial one near but not into the deep vein area. I just have to keep any eye on it, make sure it doesn't get worse, or an infection and go for the follow up scan in about 12 days time. I've been in quite a few earthquakes before, but this was by far the largest I have experienced.

Thinking of you!

ByGosh, I leave you alone for a week or so and hoped to come back and read my 'By gosh, By golly, Bylateral' friend has answers and is feeling much better.. Hope the scan provides some answers honey x

octopus, you too.. Honey, I hoped to hear it was all improved... Must admit though, I am on my third course of antibiotics for pneumonia (both lungs)..

Knocked me over with a feather, Just like this..

Or maybe it is the NZ Bonningtons Irish Moss I am sipping :)

ByGosh glad I can be here in person now...(and thanks Meg!! Songlady ) You've been quite busy while I was "just watching"! You have the most wide-ranging thread on here, I think. I'm still hoping for the best, and brushing up my torch-juggling act to entertain you while you wait for results which may come in today to shed light on how to get you better :)

Goodness, Poppet, I am so sorry to hear about the pneumonia!! That really wipes one out. I hope these antibiotics do the trick for you! I was searching around trying to find... seems to me we'd discussed leg cramps and you had good advice; so I've been trying to search the forum....
And octopus, I started reading this page from the bottom, and thought, Oh!! The poor dear! She's talking about the thrombophlebitis as an earthquake in her world......! And then I read further up and found out you meant EARTHQUAKE. Silly me! I should always read from the top......
ByGosh, I hope you are finding out helpful things.
zauberflöte, I'm glad you're back on!

Poppet Hello, friend. I'm so sorry about your pneumonia! You poor girl - it sure can take the wind out of someone's sails! I hope and pray that the new antibiotic gets rid of it for you. I know you're doing every other thing possible to help yourself - from all of your very special remedies. Please keep on mending and taking good good care of yourself - just like one of us here would take care of you if we could! :friends:
How is your husband now? I certainly hope he has improved and is up and around and able to manage! It's a tough situation when both of the caregivers are sick.

zauberflöte Songlady octopus Elosarabrab Nylsor Poppet and all others - I'm busy getting the reports so other than them saying it isn't serious, there isn't much else to say, except, thankfully, the horrible pain of last week after the shot seems to have come back to baseline. As I go along, I'll keep you posted with any important news. Thanks for your inquiries and your unending support, everyone. You're wonderful.

zauberflöte I'm glad to see you're back online now, thanks to the help of Songlady. Isn't she wonderful? :)
I missed your funny and caring personality! You can start your entertainment any time now - I'm always ready for a few antics!

octopus I'll bet the thrombophlebits feels like an earthquake, in a way for you, even if that wasn't what you meant. From what I know, more superficial veins are the better ones to have affected, not that we want any of them to become inflammed. I would say that your treatment plan makes perfect sense and when you have the follow up scan, I pray the news is all good. Keep on getting better and taking good care of yourself. Let us know how things go, and how the scan turns out.

Songlady Are you having leg cramps? I believe Magnesium was mentioned as being good for that. I also feel that LeeApril26, or Kim22 is taking it for that reason? Maybe Littlejem ? Let's see what they say....

No not me, I used to get them but, thank goodness, I haven't had leg cramps for quite a while. I'd heard that it could be a lack of salt, I don't add any during cooking or on my food?

Nylsor Your grilled halloumi and vegetables sounds delicious. I think that cheese is much more popular in Britain than here in the US. It's not something I've heard of, but I definately want to try some. It sounds like a really good addition to the diet, especially of a vegetarian. Several of us have daughters that are non-meat eaters - Littlejem nmscienceteacher you, Nylsor and my daughter. I think we're lucky that they eat dairy, as otherwise it would be more difficult to feed them - especially in a house with others who crave meat.
I can see where how you've gotten to be so knowledgable on the royals and the English language Nylsor. Your exploration of London, your career with the students, and your interests helped reinforce that information for you.
It's great for the rest of us, too! You're still a wonderful educator, and even our other British friends enjoy your 'classes'! I love them, but please don't take up too much of your time on that with us if you can't! You still have all of your own things to do! Plus Mike gets hungry....:) And I don't blame him - you sound like you're a fantastic cook, too! He's a lucky man, now isn't he?

ByGosh. Glad the reports have not found anything horrid, but I'm sure you are frustrated at the lack of a "fix." A close friend had cortisone shots in her knees yesterday and was told it could take three weeks to work.
I was taking magnesium to relax all the muscles that were in spasm pre hip surgery, and was also told it could help with sleep. Not sure how helpful it was.

Thanks LeeApril26 I'm putting on my thinking cap again...
I seem to remember you're taking magnesium for the electric shocks going on in your leg.

My son's friend, the pilgrim, isn't due back until the end of August, so I guess they'll be figuring out something else to do. There's a link to read her other travels, which seem like many for someone her age. It makes for interesting reading.
Isn't the weather gorgeous today? I was sitting out back with the dogs, and it was so pleasant!

My daughter is having her wisdom teeth out next week. I'm having my husband take the first couple of days off, as I'm not sure how she'll be, and it may not be so easy for me to run up and down the stairs if she's laid up in bed. I feel bad about it, as I've always been the one to manage things, especially something like that. But he'll do work at home, and probably around the house, too, so it will have to be OK.

My husband's brother is clamoring for another NYC trip in the fall. Ut oh. I'm against it - especially after what happened the last time with my husband throwing his back out! My husband is very accommodating, so I said he could use me as an excuse. I don't believe he really wants a repeat of the last trip anyway. I sure don't. Although it's good for my husband to get away, he needs something that's a little more relaxing for himself, and not a trip that's all work and very little pleasure for him.

Hi ByGosh - I'm glad that at least you are back to the pre-injection status!
Actually, it's my husband who is having leg cramps. I bought him some magnesium; I'm not sure if it's helping, but I personally haven't heard him complain of quite so many leg cramps since.
He also has complicated bunion issues, inherited, and gets toe cramps - but you can look at his feet and see that something is likely twisted or impinged or whatever and likely to cramp. It's always something.....

ByGosh. My daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted (6 of them!) the year she graduated college. She was very spacey the day of the surgery-needed to be driven home, and slept for about 24 hours, but after that was just a bit tired for a day or so. It's good your husband will be home.
I remember trying the magnesium for the electrical sensations in my legs, but can't recall f they were helpful. I was in a sleep deprived state. The tingling went away when the pillow between my legs was no longer required.
The last thing your husband needs is another stressful trp. Maybe you will both be able to take a little trip by then.
