ahhhhh, you should hear the midnight sound of raccoons mating in a pine tree. First time I heard it I thought there was murder and mayhem of a human nature going on in my driveway. Now I'm used to it....
I hvae to be nonchalant-- we've destroyed their habitat, so they are allowed to harass me! LOL

Good grief!!! some of us just have all the fun going on around us. I have cats howling and sometimes fighting in the night here---one of them is mine . But raw sex in the pine trees, WOW!!!

bottomshollow surely you have raccoons! In your garbage can perhaps? There's another one! there was a raccoon that climbed into our supercan and couldn't get out. Heard it fighting in there and then it tipped the whole shebang over and still couldn't get out (all this was filed in dreamland under "O that's ok"". Next morning I went to see what had been going on, righted the supercan, and the beast whisked out as the lid flipped open. Scared the snot outta both of us!!!

zauberflöte, I have only seen one young raccoon years ago in my yard. It's very open and I have open fields all around me for farming. But I do have opossums---which means keeping the garbage can lids on tightly and no food left out for the cats.

bottomshollow we are SO hijacking Aud's thread .... just last fall I inadvertently arbitrated a fight between my alpha cat and a possum, which, as it was very dark out, I didn't know was a possum till it rolled over my feet! An intruder cat will run away, but this thing wouldn't give up-- i was terrified! Many years ago, running by the river, i saw a litter of tiny raccoons, peeping and chirping for mommy, who must have gone foraging. Thank goodness they were gone when i came back that way. Love the photo! I'm not about to leave food out for NObody! LOL Suburban wildlife, gotta love it
Anniepops swearing at raccoons doesn't faze them throwing pine cones at them, however, often sends them packing!

Put a pic up of my new hip. My socket was too shallow so i have screws in. lol. The orthopaedic nurse said i'm way ahead of the mark. To slow down a bit. She said they usually advise 3 months off work, but as i'm doing ok i can go back, but start on less hours. lol.

No never mentioned the shed. lol. She said usually at my stage she would recommend me going from two to one crutch, but she said i'm way past that. I need to take it easy. lol.
My mum said could i not have used the toilet before my x ray? lolol

Wow I just pop over to chat about raccoons and you are back on the lav Aud. Nice pins by the way. I'm very glad to hear you are ahead of the game. With your attitude, I'm not surprised. bottomshollow, opossums are super cute Are they ever vicious? What a great shot. Until recently raccoons were living under our deck and tearing up our roof tiles. Mr.Vida loves them as much as I do but he got mad about the roof. We've started using wood pellets as cat litter and he puts the used and filtered pellets on a separate compost pile, just for the flower beds. Haven't seen a raccoon since he started doing that. Think they can smell the cat wee, even though humans can't. It was a nice compromise, they just packed their bags and moved on.

Wow that is a lot of prune juice! When I bought some prune juice after surgery, hubby told me a funny story about when he was a 10 year old. He and his friend found some prune juice in the family fridge and thought "fruit juice, lets have some of that, oh this tastes pretty good." They split a liter between them and a few hours later they found out the joys of prune juice.

opossums are super cute Are they ever vicious?

Oh my Vida no they are not cute when you get up close-- they have a mouth overly full of needle sharp teeth, and they are so ugly only their mothers can love them. And vicious?? They are the meanest animal in the South!

zauberflöte.... Chris, I saw these raccoon relatives in Argentina.....and they were deffo cute, very tame. They can probably do the tango. Of course the ones I saw were hanging around tourists begging for food. They are called coati. I think you may have some in the US, not sure tho.

Vida oh that is cute! Looks a little like an anteater? I don't know if we have them here or not! I saw the sweetest little semi-rodent in Tanzania once. A rock hyrax. One slipped out of a rock wall and curled up under my chair! But my all time favorite is the lesser panda-- they are smallish, red, and curl up with their looooonnnng bushy tails over their noses, high up in a tree!
