Re: Just wondering

Hi Energy3
Unfortunately there is no surgery that can fix the damaged leg, nerves if they heal will do in their own time. The Surgeon's and Neurologist feel I will now be extremely 'lucky' if I get any improvement and if I do I will be 'lucky' to get 40% of pre-surgery function (40% is better than 0%).

As far as having the other hip replaced in Australia, I would love to have the choices of Surgeon's but not sure how / who would foot the bill?
I do have family living in Australia and understand you need to belong to a health scheme or something like that?

Regards

Re: Just wondering

I think undergarments can be custom made or you can add padding yourself to suit your needs. Here is a link to one website I found that explains their product line. There are lots of sites out there. I googled "undergarment butt pad"

Re: Just wondering

Well I go to the foot of our stairs! Never heard of such a thing!

Re: Just wondering

@Montymum: Was there something you were trying to tell us??? :th_heehee:

Re: Just wondering

Still don't understand - perhaps you could loose the shorthand! :wink1:

Hello
I've been sad for a while.
Over 12 months since the injury
Nothing changed!
Coping (just)
Life is soooo different now

Take care

Hi montymum, I dug you other two threads out of the archive and joined them all together.

I'm so sorry to hear things aren't so good. Are you still using your power chair? You were so happy when you got that.

At times I'm using the chair when my hand works.
I'm having problems with my hands/arms now my right one needs a big operation, the nerve has done something making my hand resemble a claw shap. A transposition or something that sounds like that. Just don't know how much more I can deal with, life is just changed so much. Its not just my walking gone, I now can't do my 'crafty' things, even reading is an issue (holding a book). I beginning to feel really bitter towards the Surgeon now. I've never felt bitter towards anyone before and don't like the feeling. I've even used bad language twice!!!!! (only to the dog though).
Thanks for asking.

Oh Montymum, I am so sorry that you are having such a rotten time. I must admit, I have not read through all of your thread and I will, but for now I just wanted to pop by to try and cheer you up.

I do hope that you will get some relief soon... you sure need it babe.. hang in there, we are here for you.. come chat any time.

The weather has turned really cold over the past two weeks, getting down to 3oC! Funny how its so dark here early yet over where you Guys are it will now be light and bright. I see there have been changes to the 'bonesmart' site.
Hope you are all well.

My heart Goes out to you Montymum. It's just so hard for us Yanks (this Yank anyway) to hear your story and not get angry! Fix this person! There must be a way! It seems they should send you out of country to a specialist if the can't do the job right themselves! I'm sending up waves of good thoughts to you.

Thanks for your thoughts, I really enjoy hearing from people, it brightens my day!
Where did the word "Yanks" come from?

Really sad occasion my beloved Dog has just passed away,14 years is a great age.

Montymum, so sorry about the loss of your pup. Our pets are so much a part of the family and mean so much to us.

In answer to your question about "Yanks", here is an explanation:

The term Yankee (sometimes shortened to Yank) has several interrelated meanings, referring to people from the United States. Outside the US it is used to refer to people from the US in general, whereas within the US it refers to people originating in the northeastern US, or still more narrowly New England, where application of the term is largely restricted to descendants of the English settlers of the region.[1]

The meaning of Yankee has varied over time. In the 18th century, it referred to residents of New England descended from the original English settlers of the region. Mark Twain, in the following century, used the word in this sense in his novel A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, published in 1889. As early as the 1770s, British people applied the term to any person from what became the United States. In the 19th century, Americans in the southern United States employed the word in reference to Americans from the northern United States (though not to recent immigrants from Europe; thus a visitor to Richmond, Virginia, in 1818 commented, "The enterprising people are mostly strangers; Scots, Irish, and especially New England men, or Yankees, as they are called").[2]
Outside the United States, Yankee is slang for anyone from the United States. The truncated form Yank is especially popular among Britons, and may sometimes be considered offensive or disapproving.[3]

Again, my condolences for your loss. Take care, keep us posted, we care.

Montymum, I'm so sorry your beloved dog has passed away,

Hugs :friends:

Ann
