I tried and failed - none of the private message options came up (I followed the instructions on this site but the option doesn't seem available to me). If you can work out how to PM me then I am sure I can reply.
If not, try this.. google 'orthopaedic surgeon grace hospital' and check out the first one in the list that comes up.
Many blessings.

MaggieElsie, it is perfectly alright to put the doctor's name here in the public forum as a recommendation to another member. But if you prefer to PM Montymum, all you have to do is click on her user name on the side of the post. A window will open with options to go to her profile page, send a private message, to follow her posts, or to ignore her posts. You click on send a private message and you will be taken to the page to do so.

Montymum, My doctor is Tony Lamberton at Grace Orthaepedic in Tauranga - they do more hip and knee replacements than anywhere else in NZ (1000+ per year) so they have a great deal of experience. I see Tony again on Tuesday for my first post-op check-up. He is good at what he does and a nice man too which is a bonus in a surgeon! It might also interest you to know that he is NZs foremost specialists in revision joint replacement.

In NZ it is nigh on impossible to find out anything about potential surgeons and their track record but I am a health researcher by profession so it's much easier for me to find out who does what, well. If you are unable to travel to Tauranga to see an orthopaedic doctor, perhaps I could try to find out who is considered best in your area, if you would like that?

 Hi Montymum, how are you? Just stopped by to say I'm thinking of you! Hope you are doing ok in this wild weather too.

Hello Everyone, I decided to have my right hip replaced, big decision but one that had to be made.
So off to the Surgeon to 'begin procedings' but alas it will not happen as soon as I hoped. The Surgeon will only replace my hip once I have a surgery to fix my arm, he said because I have only 1 'good' leg and that is going to be operated on I need to be able to take my weight through both arms. The hip surgery is off for 6 months after I have the arm surgery.
I feel really deflated, was pleased with myself for coming to the decision and began looking forward to getting it done so now will begin the waiting game.

I'm pleased you have been able to make the decision to have surgery, but how disappointing to have to wait and have more surgery as well. Let us know when the arm surgery is to take place. Is it a long recovery period? Thinking of you!

Hi Octopus, recovery can be up to twelve months, usually between 6 - 8 months.
So hip surgery may be this time next year.

Wow, that's a long time. Keep in touch. I'm not on everyday now, but still pop in once or twice a week.

So sorry Kiwi Montymum, how disappointing for you, stick with us, I will help 'inflate you' with some Aussie humor :)
