Good for you!!! That must be a big weight off your shoulders. Countdown.....I am so excited for you. :loveshwr: just a few more days, tasks, and preparations left until you can stop and focus on you and your healing. And getting your life back.

@Toddlermom to quote the great SpongeBob SquarePants, "I'm ready, I'm ready!"

Dentist visit Tuesday. Getting closer on the bite. Got to set a opthomolgist visit this week to get a new script for new contacts. Friday is my pre-op with OS and hospital. Then a plan for my go bag for the hospital. Squeezing that stuff in between my work prep is going to make the week go quickly.

. (I have honestly noticed that my name and word recall has been progressively worse over the last 2 months
I understand that @gullimac - I put it down to being fixated on and preoccupied with pain. :eeeuw:
I have a nice feeling that once this is over our minds will open up again and start receiving (and retaining) once more :yes!:
The final days without anti-inflams were so hard for me. If it is any consolation my Hubby commented that my gait (with crutches) just 2 days postOp saw me standing tall again and fully weightbearing, whereas in the days immediately preceding I was hunched and hobbling. :old:

A week from tomorrow the new journey begins. Wife is taking Tuesday (surgery day) and Wednesday off and then working from home Thursday and Friday. Then we will figure out coverage after the weekend with my Mother-in-law.

Trying to get things in my office set and ready for folks to take over. Crafted an email to my fellow ADs at other area schools letting them know about my impending absence and who to contact while I am away. Told them I most likely will not look at, or return email, for the 1st 4-5 weeks at least.

Heading down the home stretch.

Could not sleep last night. Not from hip pain, just could not settle in, switch off and stay off. Kept waking and would struggle to fall back asleep. :bored: Can only imagine the struggle to sleep next Monday night.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. You must be feeling pretty anxious now. It won't be much longer, just next week.

and waiting soon!

You will stay busy for the next few days then hopefully, you will settle into the pre op calm that seems to just wash over you during the last couple of days.
I wish you the very best, you've been such a trooper and have earned your rest and recovery period.

I am a little concerned, though. You have hitched your wagon up with @Cynthia777, with your surgery dates... be careful or she will have you buying all sorts of gadgets, then the next thing you know you will develop an aversion to swimming! And that's just the beginning... :swim: :rotfl:

Hi @gullimac, wow, less than a week to go for you! Time will fly by and the day will be here before you know it. Happy to get you over on the recovery side, where so far each day is seeing improvement :) you will love it!

RTHR, MIS (minimally invasive surgery), posterolateral approach, Feb. 15, 2016-cancelled :( waiting for a new date

So, I just had a small emotional meltdown. I got home from work just in time to tuck my oldest in bed. My wife tucked in the youngest and got in bed herself. I came in, changed clothes, sat down on the toilet and started crying. I think I have had such a long stretch of long work days where I have to keep my emotions walled up and I operating on fumes. I got home and let my walls down and just deeply realized how exhausted I am mentally, emotionally and physically. I just felt so overwhelmed all of the sudden. It is like I have been clenched up like a fist for 10 straight days and finally let go.

I just crawled up in bed next to my wife (in a bed I haven't been able to sleep in for a year) and just tried to breathe for 15 minutes. That helped.

Feeling ok for now, but I am sure I will have a few more moments over the next few days:cry:.

It will be ok. You will soon be in the home stretch so just hang in there. Nothing wrong with a good cry now and then to cleans the soul. I know exactly how you feel. I've done the same thing myself over the past couple of weeks. We can only endure so much. :sigh:

Yes, the emotions are riding high right now @gullimac. The way it affects me is, I go into like a zombie mode. My mind starts getting really foggy in the days before the surgery (this happened with my first op too). I think I just block everything out around me. I actually set a reminder for the day I have to start showering with the Hibiclens, the day I want to pack etc. etc. This way I can block out the fact that I'm having surgery in a few days. Each of us handle the pre-op period in different ways and obviously you needed to let out a lot of pent up emotion. It's good that you cried, as it helps get rid of all the anxiety that is bound to hit us. I find it so odd that I feel anxious, as I've been through it already and it was SO MUCH EASIER than I could have ever imagined. Hang in there Twinsy, it will be done before we know it. Big hugs for you today. :friends:

@gullimac
I enjoy reading your threads even if I don't respond.
Thank you for being so transparent about what you are feeling. A good cry is always soothing and a stress reliever. That's wonderful that you were able to crawl into bed. I am sure that was comforting.
Preop I just wanted to sleep a lot or I kept as
busy as I was physically able. I tried meditation as well to relieve anxiety.
Hope you have a good and peaceful day tomorrow.

I wish you could see into your future.. and see how well you will do with the surgery. It's just too much, towards the end, juggling work, Dr appts, tests, fixing up the recovery room and worrying.... so overwhelming.
Hang in there, this too shall pass.
Will be pulling for you... :praying:

You've been dealing with a lot of different stresses with the dental problems and work issues. Not to mention the horrible pain you have endured for so long! All this takes a toll on your mental and emotional well-being. Until you get this surgery behind you, your life may feel in limbo and perhaps in chaos.
Your relief is just around the corner....and it will give you your life back! After months of waiting, your new beginning is finally just a few days away. Hang in there! You have so many people cheering you on.

Day stunk. Better evening tonight though. Trying to get psyched up for my pre-op tomorrow. Guess I will have a little more info about surgery after tomorrow.

Glad you had a better evening @gullimac . I'm having an awful day too but it can only get better right?? Not long to go! The pre-op class will give you something to keep busy with

@gullimac - you needed that cry. Believe me I did a bit of that.... sheer, exhausted anger and frustration. You will look back and remember it and the you will then reflect about just HOW much better life is! Push to one side all remaining worries and remember to speak out about any concerns when you arrive on YOUR day. Just concentrate on the countdown of the days left to put up with this now. I found the last couple of days preOp a strange calmness came over me, like I was finally able to let go. The experience, when the day arrives, is one you should relish. You've waited so long for this and the waiting is very very nearly over. Hold tight.
