THR A new world..there better be coffee

:happyfeet:
So glad to see your posts and to know you are on your way.
Great start to my day to see such a positive post.
Slow and steady my new hippy.
Soon you'll be doing the chicken dance:chuckmarch:

@Eman85 I got a cheap knockoff
Its for later not now. Overnight my ice leaked and while I slept my bed was soaked!
Today I feel like I got run over. Might needmore than Tylenol though its been more than six hours and a wet bed is a poor ache reliever
I am glad the bandage is waterproof!

My thigh hurts; must have been alot of force to do the dislocation. I think they stay away from a replaced knee

I asked for oxy just a little
Talked with the PA who assisted. He is sore too
The hip was locked and they had trouble dislocating due to bone spurs and shortened muscles
And now I have a free ball joint and muscles that aren't stretched. so aches are going to happen as they stretch.
I think it is important to know your own body and how it may have changed after surgery to understand your aches
Its a beautiful day here in Portland ME My window overlooks the ocean and my nurse brought me coffee. Its good coffee...

What more could you ask for? Coffee and breakfast in bed and new ice packs. Very comfy now. Nesting mode .

You are having an amazing recovery. Where I was they did not believe in catheters, nor transfusions and very little narcs and I was without pain too- a couple of weeks after the initial surgeries.They endorse advil with tylenol and this worked. You should be well on your road to recovery with ease. Good for you.

Good Morning!
Think we're in the same time zone(I'm in PA) hope you had a decent night and your recovery stays amazing! You've probably hunted up some good coffee already!
Getting out my equipment ( walker, ice packs) multiple pillows for positioning and have a few things to keep me busy today.
Sounds like you have a great handle on what's what especially since you are recovered knee replacement too, which we all hear is a much more complicated recovery!
Have a great POD 1, may your coffee be hot, your ice be cold, and your pain be minimal!.....

Woo, hoo @mainegirl1 You made it! Nice to be able to avoid the oxy at first, but do take what you need to keep pain under control. I think--ahem--I may have been a bit stingy early on and while never in horrible pain, I certainly wasn't a happy camper and had a major meltdown by day four at home. Don't be like me--take the dang drugs! They are there to help you, and rest and manageable pain are what you need to recover. Hip sounds like it was really a mess when they went in and I'm sure you are so relieved you've now got a beautiful new one to take over for that hot mess. You take care, and hope you get to go home soon. Hospitals are all very well and good, but home's best. Cheers, and congrats!

The hip was locked and they had trouble dislocating due to bone spurs and shortened muscles

Ouch! It's good you were OUT!
You sounded so upbeat yesterday, sorry you're feeling it a bit more today. Hopefully they get the perfect pain cocktail going and your day brightens. Enjoy your coffee, the ocean view and your ice pack.
Wishing you comfort as you begin the journey!
@mainegirl1

@mainegirl1 I am soooo jealous of your view of the ocean! 5 gets you 10 you won't remember it in 6 weeks :snork:
I too had that high with both hips. (Read the first few posts of my first recovery thread lol) At least one is uncemented, and I wasn't told by anybody to rest, was merely scolded and told off and warned that the hospital was not liable if I did ANYTHING out of bed without ringing for help. My second hip's dirty little secret is that I ditched the walker as soon as I got home the next day. My house is not at all suited for a walker, so I cruised like a pre-toddler along the door frames, major appliances, and taller furniture. But your OS knows his stuff, so behave! Shut up and drink your coffee! :wave::ice:

Your muscles might have been a little tight but trust me they are stretched now. That's the thing about this THR deal. People hear about or pull muscles just doing sports or normal activities. Think how much further your muscles got pulled when they disassembled you. Compare that to pulling a muscle while everything remained intact within your body! I've dislocated a shoulder, now that's pulling muscles and it was nothing compared to how they dislocate your hip.

@Eman85 True I don't want to see a video
Stiffness much better after short walks and supervising 15 minutes of shopping from a mobility cart.
It is cool to know I have a hope of doing beginning yoga
@zauberflöte I have a by the book daughter staying with me
She will not allow furniture surfing. The doc was pretty firm about that
But when I an in the kitchen. yah. counter surfing
I am now in my maroon plush recliner that I only use for recovering from stuff. Nested with water knitting ( yes can do) and Netflix and my wearable ice pack
Its summer but the a/c is cranking and I am snuggled with a blanket
Gotta read your thread @zauberflöte !

@mainegirl1 Water knitting??? I don't want to look it up. Do you knit with wet wool so it felts itself as it dries?
Was it here I was mentioning my back-to-ballet? (Will be short-lived as the class I want is not offered on a night I can attend for the fall semester. ) At first my hips' soft tissue hated ballet, but then! I started taking barre classes too and got much stronger quite quickly. I'm a barre junkie now; pretty sure I'm her oldest student by at least 10 years. Bear in mind, the younger hip was 18 months old when I started these shenanigans.
Downeasters even know about air conditioning?? :snork:

Isn't it incredible how much you can move without pain so instantly after THR?? :happydance:. I still remember the Cheshire cat smile I had the first time I stood up out of bed in hospital. Glad to hear you are doing so well so quickly. Happy nesting and enjoy the beautiful autumn colour display out your window. :flwrysmile:.

Ice is a mess, don't see how people deal with it. Icing machine is the trick. Run it 24/7 with no mess. Reload it with 4 frozen water bottles a couple of times a day. Sleep with it and no problems.
The fitbit is a trend thing, once you use it you end up putting it in a drawer and forget about it. When you first start walking around you can have a lot of steps indoors, they might be very small steps though. The number of steps don't really matter.

I have long underwear from Duluth Trading.. The ice is anything but a mess. It fits in a pouch with ties so it is very secure at all times even up and about. The pouch is thick cotton and the ice is in a vinyl pocket inside.

I have a lazy tendency.. I let the walks go from around the block ( 2.7 miles) to .6 miles even when the hip and knee did not hurt.. The Fit bit is for later. I spent thirty bucks for a knockoff. I don't want to fall into the couch potato habit for cardiac reasons.. My Cardiologist wants me to walk.. End of conversation on that.

Now its walk and pee and do my exercises at home to get a little mobile.. Tylenol is currently on duty for pain and Dilaudid will be before nighty night. I got a nap but am still tired as expected.. It is very nice to have daughter 2 here and daughter 1 and teenage grandsons will come next week!

Now lets see how I will do at Sudoku

@mainegirl1 Good luck with that Sudoku! Glad to hear your recovery is moving along nicely and that you are being well cared for by daughters 2 and 1. (I have a small clip on FitBit--keeps me accountable and knowing it's there reminds me to get off my duff and move around.)

Hi Mainegirl1,
So glad you made it on the other side and are doing so well! You seem like you have this all well in hand. A credit to your surgical team and your planning. Wishing you continued successful healing.
