Hi Poppet
Just sent you an Email...It's April 2nd.
Let me know if you got it!

All is slow and Steady.
I am following directions I get on BoneSmart.
For once in my life:) haha.
My mom would be proud!

I let go of the Eliptical for now, and have moved to bike/treadmill walking.
I am still afraid of pulling that muscle in the back of Glute.
but....I can now BEND OVER AND STRETCH!
WOW!
Got the Clearance to do that when I saw the Surgeon mid-March.
X-ray looked good. Nothing Weird going on.

Range of motion not bad so far. Will not be the same, but I did dance
and gymnastics:) There is the Gratitude....I was able to do them!
I will wait to do Yoga, like I did with Hip #1. I waited 12 mos before last time.

Okay, let me know if you get the email! From top of the globe to Bottom!
Laura

Hi Bone Smarties,
Well, it is about 8 Months, Post-Op (x2)...
I am working in Japan and it is RAINY Summer Season.

Now, I had no Idea of how much pain I would run into here.
I do work with young kids, and am up and down a good bit.
I am not running, lifting, or doing stupid things like that:)

So I finally went to Clinic and got Ibupropen and Tramadol.

I am still pretty SLOW Healing. Is this 'Normal' (if there is such a thing:) ?
I have a lot of numbness in my Right Calf. (Hip Replacement side).

Thanks you all. Hope everyone is holding steady!
Thanks for any Feedback.
Laura

Hey Laura, fantastic to hear from you. I have been wondering if you were in Japan or NZ... Getting closer girl :)

Sorry you are suffering more pain. Do you think it could be because of the increased activity with the kids? Like you say you are up and down with them.

Must admit, I haven't tried getting down on the floor, too worried I won't be able to get back up... but in saying that.. I decided to buy a chocolate bar from the vending machine at work today, put my coin in and the reward came out way at the bottom of the machine in the deepest of trays... So how to get my little treat out??? I hung around and someone came in and kindly got it out for me, needless to say, I won't be doing that again and after all the fuss, it didn't taste that good anyway :)

Lovely to hear from you, have missed you heaps :dancy:

Hey Poppet!
Well I don't get down on the Floor....I sit in these Little people chairs:))
I am so stiff, Poppet, The locking ring is Odd feeling. Like, I can feel the
screw that is through my bone. It does limit my range of motion.

Maybe I'm just anxious and feeling like I can't do anything, like I used to do physically.
This Rain and humidity is really kicking it up too.

One Day at a Time. That's all I know.
The first Hip replacement was at age 50, and it took me about a Year and a half to
really feel somewhat put together.

Hope this makes sense...
How you Feeling?? Email me! I will email back!

Hello BoneSmart Friends!
I am working overseas and was just thinking about the fact it has almost been 2 Years since my R THR Revision Surgeries!

I am doing alright...Very active, as I am working alot.
I do have a progress Report on the Locking Ring which was installed after I dislocated x2....
Range of Motion...Okay, not Super Great but not too bad.
I can tell when I do Yoga. When I sit in simple cross legged Position, left hip replacement goes all the way down. Not so, with the Right/Locking Ring. Maybe 2/3 the way down compared to the Left.

Problem Areas:
Too much 'Numbness' in my Right Calf...I had some Acupuncture before I left the States this time, and it worked wonders! I could actually feel my Calf much better.

The area around my Hip Joint, where the long Screw attaches the parts together. I experience pain which feels like Arthritic type pain?
Ibupropen is needed. I use 800 mg. prescription Ibupropen maybe 1x per day, if it's bad.

I would say these are the only 2 areas that give me trouble.
I remain GRATEFUL though!
So what, I cannot run! I can't ice skate. Oh well! I CAN WALK!
I am doing Eliptical and Treadmill. Some Upper Body work.
I pulled out my back awhile back, trying to keep up in a Yoga class with a master Teacher...
Not so Good...
I was doing way too many Standing and Folding poses. Just too painful for me now.
So I have gone to Less Intensive Yoga classes.

Thank you for listening!
You all were so precious and special at a point in my life where I needed Support.
Just wanted to give you some Feedback, in case anyone is interested in PostOp from Locking Ring Revision prognosis.
Love, Peace, Prayers!
Laura P.

Great to hear from you Laura. Sounds like you are doing great - I can't sit cross legged at all! The fact that you are doing yoga again is a real accomplishment. Well done!

I am feeling inspired by your post! It gives me hope for the future! Right now I am looking forward to the time when I can walk without pain. :thankyou: for posting your success!

LPLaura... Hi gorgeous lady.. How wonderful to hear from you online... Must catch up with our emails :)

Fantastic to see a photo of you also..

You all are so Kind! Thank you Thank you Thank you, from my Heart! :thankyou:
I love the new emoticons, too!

I guess I should remember that I was flat on my back and unable to walk, or move, back then!
Jaycey, I will imagine you sitting in simple crossed legged Position :)
calicat, me too, both Hips. You will do great! It will pass!
I was a super sad Case...Fell, dislocated x2, finally they just screwed and locked me down with a Zimmer Locking Ring.
I was so Sad about that.
Now, I just smile and think, Well...I can Walk! Not always Super great, or super Agile. But I can darn sure Walk and feel the earth beneath my feet.

Guess none of us plan on having this happen? But so thankful I am born in an Era where I can have it done.
Thank you Josephine for adding me to the Happy Success Stories! That made my day.

Love Peace & Prayers to you ALL... That 'Poppet' must be my down-Under pal? Thank you so MUCH. This Site saved my life, literally:)
Laura

Hi LPLaura, yes, hello from 'down under' - email on the way :) hugs and love

LPLaura. Thanks for sharing your story....it is inspiring to hear that it was all worth it!!!!

Hello BoneSmarties:

I am in Okinawa working with kids, up and down a good bit. 'm a bit scared, after last 2 weeks' symptoms.

The right hip (post 2 years)...the one that was locked in with locking ring. Twice now, my leg snaps out, really when doing nothing strenuous. It has happened twice in past two weeks. It is on the outside of my right hip area/leg.

It is a sharp, sudden pain, and I panic. I'm not sure if the panic is symptom of falling and breaking the hip 2 years ago? Anyway, panic attack occurred this evening.

I have 5 more weeks here in Okinawa before heading back to the States. There is a Navy Hospital ER. I am strongly considering going for an X-Ray of Hip tomorrow?

My OS back in Georgia has double pneumonia. I called, and he has had to cancel all surgeries and patients for 2 weeks. He is not in good shape. I left word with nurse. She said I could have xrays faxed to them back home.

I don't know anyone yet on this site, that has had the locking ring installed on their dislocated new THR? I was hoping that it would hold, even if hit by a train :tantrum:

Thanks for listening, my monitor angels. I'm SCARED. Maybe you have heard of such things from others along the way? I'm really scared and 7,000 miles from home.
Thank you, if you get this!
Laura P
