2018 July Sparklers - Are you having hip surgery in July?

I've just had a call from the hospital to offer me a cancellation for next Friday, 6th July - so I'll be joining all you Sparklers! Getting nervous now though.

Finally booked in for left hip replacement on July 19th. Had Xrays done in March 2017- both hips need replacing and knees aren't great. Foolishly postponed op as I loved my job but had to retire last August as I'd deteriorated so much.Very frightened about the op despite sister having had hers done in April (in Spain because of long waiting list here) and making a great recovery. Some days all my joints hurt including today my ankle. Is this normal?

I have brought forward this month's list so that you can easily see who your surgical buddies are.

Welcome to our latest and all July Sparklers!

Ditto the ankle. Mine is really playing up. So are muscles. Hoping for better times.
Back to the body wash. Can’t believe how foamy it is. Presume I need to use less. Have avoided the face so far. Very unpleasant. But presumably important.

And back to the wash again. A red patch on the vulva and a tiny crack in the groin. Hospital told me to go to GP and pick up the one for sensitive skin which is Hibiscrub! Again told to use it on face. Nurse Practitioner very surprised at the 5 day regime. Given a cream to apply. Fingers XX it all works.

Ouchie! Hope it clears up very soon. I was actually surprised to hear you have to do it for 5 days as well. I was just told to do it the night before and the morning of the surgery. Then once the staples are out, I'm to use it to wash that area with it, but that's it.

Hi scheduled for Left THR July 18th. Very apprehensive. Dr. office called yesterday and said they order all patients portable SCD. oh by the way not covered by insurance. Having mini-posterior . Concerned about restrictions. So much conflicting information from hip class at hospital and physicians office.

And I second your sentiments @dogchick. Best wishes to you, @InkedMarie, @Apricot, @OsteOh-No, and @ghays60. I suspect we're all feeling equally nervous. I was away this weekend, but reality is now hitting home, but I'm sure we're all well prepared and if we stick together ....

Cassidy: thank you! This is my second THR; different surgeon but if it goes half as well as the first, I’ll be good!

Apricot: I’m EST, have to be at hospital at 10am so i think surgery is around noon (I didn’t think to ask!)
