On implant longevity: I heard of many hip replacement patients who had their hips done as long ago as 1980 and even some who had them done in 1970! At a recent conference, surgeons were confidently talking about the 'forever hip' as already being with us, even for the younger patients. Not bad, eh?

Great Stuff, Jo! I hope they're right and we all find out which hip that is soon. At the moment I don't think anyone is labeling THEIRS as that "forever hip", right?

Z

I have a close relative who had his first hip done at age 26, second at 27 and he is well into middle 40's now and still no second round surgeries on the horizon for him...

So I promised a photo of my second "Guard Cat" protecting me awhile ago and finally got a picture that he's in.

In this shot my rehab team is putting me thru my paces...

ThunderBear...the little black one is into Cardio so he is closely checking my heart as you can see. He hates using a stethoscope and goes "old school".

And Zion (the great striped one) is using his chin to press on my knee to work on my hip flexion.

They could see I needed a pick me up this afternoon so they joined me for a nap...

As I told Jane recently, Zion is named after one of our favorite National Parks!

Sarah "noms" come from the Icanhavecheeseburgers.com funny pictures of cats and hysterical captions - it means food - as in "nom, nom, nom that is so yummy!!"

Thank you for sharing :)

Love your kitties John! Mine were a great comfort in my recovery. Looks like they have you covered as well.

You were talking about a forever hip earlier. Mine is forever I am certain. I told someone not long ago this one is going with me to the grave. Technology has moved so far. In most cases patients see no problems.

Great pic of your kittehs!

A busy day in Massachusetts...

I had not seen my soon to be 92 year old dad since before the surgery. He lives a couple hours away in a nursing home near both my sisters. They've reported my steady progress to him but I felt like it was time that he saw his little boy for himself...

Anyway, stopped the meds for the day and drove out to see him which was very worth it. I also stopped by to deliver some forgotten items at my daughter's who attends college nearby.

All went went, although it was plenty of "work" for the day...I'll get a gentle bike in tonite and call it a day...and tomorrow will be low key with an extra dollop of rest for me...
