THR Yippie Yippie.. Double Hippie!! (CricketHip)

@Hip Hip Hooray! hello old forum friend!! I finally gave in to that other mangy hip. :heehee: Funny, it never did hurt like the first hip did. I'm already sitting in my recliner and eying my bed. If it's like last time, I have a few more nights of sweats.. So good to hear from you!!

good morning @CricketHip … I hope last night was a bit better than the first night you had those nasty night sweats....During those first few weeks, I kept going back and reading the "reminders"....one of them being that all of these issues we are experiencing are temporary and will fade away....and they do.

I know that your positive attitude is extremely healthy for your body, but I confess I had some pretty dark days...one day in particular (I can laugh about it now) was I was trying to "help" my hubby out and was carrying some towels back into the bathroom...Well maneuvering with towels and a cane, not so good. I wound up knocking an almost full bottle of (expensive) olive oil off the kitchen counter...slippery oil everywhere...and hubby wasn't home!!! That was a fun day :holysheep:

So my dear, what I want to say is that we are all in this together, and it gets better....much better!!! xox

Good morning @Bfam85 oh my goodness,, a full bottle of olive oil! That had to be a bad day. :console2:
I am in a good place this morning and have given it some thought, I will begin some meditation exercises to help with my hyperactivity. I know in my brain that I need to take it easy today because I had such an active day yesterday. But my heart wants to get out and do things. I need for my brain to win!
I am caught up on all of the thank you cards for my sweet Mom's passing and I also hope to go through more of her photo albums and boxes. This should keep me quiet for the day.

"Edited to add that yes, I'm still having the night sweats-so planning on a quiet day, thinking maybe it's a sign that I'm over doing it a smidge." :sleeep:

@CricketHip … Congratulations! :wowspring:I am not surprised at all and happy for all those folks you will be able to console, assure and put at ease in the future....Now, how about a picture of your beautiful face?!

@Bfam85 you are so sweet and supportive!! I have tried several times with a picture.. lol and here's a little secret,, I hate my pictures. Which is ironic since my husband is a fantastic photographer. He even says it's hard to get a good photo of me. But will work on that right now. I know it's a silly hangup.
My update for the morning is: I miss sleeping through the night! It's ok, it's not like I'm going to work or anything but I sure miss sleeping longer than 2 hours at a time.
The night sweats are better, I am now not soaking through my P.J.'s, at least.
I'm also definitely a one cane woman now.. :yahoo: and actually leaving it behind quite a bit.. AND!! taking less of the Oxycodone,, still taking it and will as long as I need it to walk fluidly and move like I should. but I'm not watching the clock any longer..:loll:and went about 10 hours yesterday without it. Tomorrow is 2 weeks post op! Just like the first time, I am viewing my recovery time as a very special time. We are so so lucky to live in this age where we have such great options offered to us, and to have BoneSmart to help keep our chins up!

P.S. There's still a good bit of swelling around my knee area which makes it difficult to get good flexion, especially when I need to step over the tub's edge to get into the shower. Of course, part of it is due to the tight and sore quadriceps, too, and am trying to make sure my gait is good when walking and am taking long enough strides to gently stretch those quads. My foot is still swollen and very bruised, which I know is gravity working but it does keep my foot sore and stiff and my achilles tendon is sore/tight. I am flexing and extending my foot to make sure I have good range of motion and I do. So it will pass. I just thought I should mention that part of my progress also. oh! my incision is healing well, but it's itchy and at times warm to touch, but I know that is also part of the healing process and will soon pass.

That's it over here on the hot and humid East Coast! Now to rummage through some photos.. :giggle:

@CricketHip this is a beautiful shot of you....last time you had a lovely photo of you outside in a meadow of sorts...that too was a very pretty shot of you :)

So happy that you are on the cane already!!! Kudos...It took a while for me due to that horrible bruising which also caused my knee to swell. But I also think I used the walker more because of the horrid LLD....using the walker helped me lean in and not feel it as much....

I hear you about the sleep. I try to sleep on my op side even now and, depending on how active I was that day, my hip lets me know it's not happy about that. So, I guess I am still recovering even in that regard...

Glad to hear the night sweats are already subsiding, you are reducing your meds! and your incision is healing...all very, very good signs. I couldn't wait to declare each little or big milestone...each one says "I'm getting my life back...only better"!!!

Sorry about your mom--always a tough one. Your are doing so well and glad that there appears to be less pain this time around.I was in a pool of sweat at the hospital and I had the windows ope . It was 10C and the nurses were coming in with sweaters. I said 'you're cold' in my stupor.I was in a pool also when I was doing PT exercises at the hospital the second day. Awful stuff--because I always have this problem in the summer. Sleep comes but later I find at least for me--dreaded the night time.

Hi @J-nice I think I am walking a good bit. I do it incrementally. I walk outside and up and down my street once a day and then I walk around my yard. I have an iWatch and I am actually getting around 5000 steps daily, which was a complete surprise when I thought to start checking it.
I'm tired today, no pain to speak of, just tired so I've lounged around more and when I look at my watch, I'm still up to 2200 steps. The rain has stopped and I'm hoping to go outside shortly. I am not pushing myself, it just feels good to walk. My only drawback is that I tend to get a little dizzy in the heat.
How about you? I hope you are enjoying walking, too and whatever you are doing feels good.

I haven’t been wearing my iwatch to check steps but I will Start tomorrow. Just walking to bathroom, kitchen around the house. Not much..it’s been raining so much down here in south Florida so haven’t been able to get out of house. I feel I am walking better except still have the tingling at bottom of feet...annoying!!

@CricketHip i just put on my watch and walked around for about 20 minutes...only 100 steps...geez, that’s discouraging. Probably walked about 300 steps today. Really aggravates my heel. Put a call to Doc to see what can be done about it. Didn’t have this problem last hip.

That's an amazing step count for 2 weeks out @CricketHip. I haven't worn my FitBit yet but I doubt I'm accruing more than 2k steps a day. I think I'll build up more when I'm fully on a cane--kudos to you for making that transition. I still want to use a walker outside on uneven ground.

I'm not so sure it's accurate, the more I think about it. I'm increasing my walking daily but I sure didn't think that I was accruing that much! I am reading up on the watch tonight.

@CricketHip It's lovely to see a face to go with your name. I like the pic, but understand your feelings - I never like my own either. Glad to hear that you've "graduated" to a cane - one more step toward your new normal. My night sweats were usually helped by holding ice to my wrist. Don't know why that worked, but it did.
Congratulations on your promotion to Forum Advisor. Your comments have been very helpful to me and I'm sure to many others as well.

Aww thank you @enoughpain !! Today is 2 weeks for me.. it's zooming past so quickly.
Your surgery date is fast approaching! I can't wait to cheer you on when it's your turn. :yahoo:
