@Nana757 I hope the outpatient PT goes as well as you hope and the recovery progress makes another jump forward. Had fun catching up on your progress and really like reading the positive approach.

@Legin I hope Harold's friends soon return :roseshwr:

Thanks @AndyH99 for the happy thoughts. BTW, I don't think Harold has any friends...lol...

Having just a wee bit of a worry right now. Have an ache just at the top of my incision site and the skin is tender to the touch. It almost feels bruised, but no visible bruising. I can only assume that maybe I overdid it yesterday, when my daughter and 2yr old great grand baby stopped by for a visit. I thought I was being careful, but maybe strained something.

It's amazing how your mind plays so many tricks on you and after going through this major operation, you always manage to think the worst. Just airing some laundry right now, but if anyone has experienced this discomfort, weeks later, what did you do to ease it. I'm still icing, but doesn't seem to help any. Oh, yeah, I also had a panic attack a couple of nights ago. It only lasted a few minutes, but scared the beejeebers out of me.
@Jamie, @Josephine, @Jaycey....any words of wisdom?

At only 5 weeks you're bound to get odd aches, pains and sore spots from time to time. Don't let it worry you. If it's too bad, pop a pill and rest it.

Thanks @Josephine...will do. Problem with me is things have been going so smoothly that I fret over new things popping up. But will take your advice. Thanks again.

Its perfectly OK to have those wee worries and this is a great place to voice them.
Re painic attack was it related to incision ache or other. Unfortunately when they happen at night it is worst time as what to do. If you are awake and the attack is stopping sleep try writtting down what it is and you feelings. Then in light of day look at it make a plan of how to deal with it. Always here to help lass

@Nana757 always think about the last "new" activity you did that might have caused this. It is usually something you have not done since before your op. Moving or twisting in a new way can bring on aches and pains. Please don't worry. Ice, elevate and meds. Then try again another day.

Duh! Thanks @Jaycey! I completely forgot that I vacuumed before the family came over. I guess between that and chasing the toddler around, it's no wonder I developed a new ache. Just needed a little memory rattle and some reinforcement that I needn't worry. Paranoia is a terrible thing.
@Legin ... I was just finishing dinner and watching the tube when it came on. And it was before these new aches...so don't really know for sure what brought it on. But, if it happens again, I am definitely calling my PCP.

:)

Vacuuming - it's not only hard on new hips, it's a back killer as well! Just go back to the mantras and easy does it for awhile.

Will leave vacuuming to DH for a while longer. Feeling much better this afternoon. Got all comfy in my lair, iced, elevated, medicated and napped. What a difference a day makes!
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Hi Nana757,
I don't know how I am doing!!!! I am great but only coz I have been lazy today but i don't want to be lazy but need to be after a strenuous day yesterday. Aren't we an up and down lot at the moment.

My little grandson started school today. He had sung a song about "the world is mine" he protested when he got home that it was wrong because the world belongs to all the children (tough luck adults).

I am off to bed now for some of my new found sleep routine. Be in touch tomorrow.

@copsham: Your grandson sounds so sweet....and smart! Out of the mouths of babes....right? You need lazy days, a lot. And, I finally figured out that I feel so much better when I have them, especially after a long day of activity. So...my personal MO is day of activity, followed by day or two of laziness. With that said, tomorrow will be a day of laziness, since I finally went grocery shopping today and raced through the store with my hubby, cause that's how he shops! God love him!
So happy to hear you now have a good sleep routine going. Pleasant dreams, my friend.

Hi @Nana757
I think you are right about alternating activity days with rest days. i think I need to plan this rather than at the moment I do what i feel like which is prob too much activity. You have stated the obvious which is helpful!

Vacuuming is lethal - no more vacuuming.

Are you okay from your panic attack now?

You are such a supportive person to everyone and you are much appreciated. x

By heck Nana you are good for Coppers she is normally zooooming around this way is better by far

Legin THR Sep 14

Thanks @copsham for your kind words. My panic attack, the other night, only lasted a few minutes..thank goodness. I used to have them all the time, about 20 years ago, and they would last what seemed like forever. But when I had a hysterectomy, they disappeared...that is, until the other night. Fortunately, since I am familiar with them, I didn't freak out too much, which, I think, helped ease it away quicker. Deep, slow breaths....
And, I have relinquished the vacuuming to my DH, at least for now.

@Legin ... You're too sweet! :)

Just checking up on you, buddy! My daughter used to get those panic attacks and had to learn the coping techniques you mention...not fun! Ummmm...let's slow down girl! If you play your cards right, DH will become the official VH (Vacuuming Husband)...come on, you're a smart cookie! ;-)

Well, actually, he used to do the vacuuming all the time @Cynthia777. But lately, not so much. I'll have to work on getting him back on track. Grocery shopping yesterday didn't effect me nearly like I thought it would. Have almost no discomfort today. My knee stills wants to act up though. I guess because of all the months of limping it's going to take more time for the knee to realize everything is okay now and it can relax! We shall see.
How is your PT going? Still good?
