TKR Which way should I go?

That isn't far off at all.

He was very rude, I told him I’m starting to get pain in my other knee but I can manage that pain his very sarcastic reply was well your knees were born on the same day weren’t they
Based on the Drs snarkiness when speaking to you I would run, or hobble, away from them as soon as possible and find yourself a more positive Dr.
That's right. My surgeon, highly competent, one of the top in his field can be a bit dry, but not rude or condescending. I will not tolerate that. We agreed on which knee TKR would be first.

I reviewed and selected him per my impression (I was interviewing him as much as he was me) first visit and my reviews of him on healthgrades.com for the US. There has to be a review option for the UK.

Quick question, friend of the wife's been to see a knee surgeon about a replacement, a week or 2 later he's got a question air about his knees. Is the question air to decide if you need a knee replacmen?
I'm off to see mine Wednesday but a bit worried about this question air

It probably is the Oxford Knee score.
I think some UK surgeons use it pre- op.
I know that you should get this questionnaire from the National Joint Registry at 6 months post op to see how the operation has gone. It is a good idea to have a pre- operation one for comparison.
I wish I had done it pre-op.
You can find a copy of the Oxford knee score on BoneSmart.

Thanks all will update what happens on Wednesday was just worried they refuse to operate

Great news had my apointment with knee surgeon, he was really nice I'm on the list for a partial replacement,
He did say I could have a full knee but advised me not to, advised me not to have osteotomy he said if I had of been in my 30s he would of said osteotomy.
It's going to be done by robot (does that make a big difference)?
Down side is around a year waiting but I have limpted along for last 15months so can go a bit longer

Glad you are finally headed in the right direction! So sorry the wait is SO long! The way of the NHS these days.

Using the robot provides a more precise implant fit. You are very lucky the hospital has this equipment. Not all areas can make this investment.

Are you on the list in case there is a cancellation?

He honestly didn't say about lists for cancellations so glad I didn't go with osteotomy, the way he was talking it wasn't the right treatment for me

Quick update after along wait, I had my ct scan Friday night and operation date came yesterday for the 30th of may As long as there’s no strikes fingers crossed.
i do have a appointment for the 13th of may I presume it’s just to go over what they will be doing

This sounds similar to me. I had bone on bone patella femural arthritis in both knees. My right leg was 5.5° out of alignment resulting in lateral compartment arthritis. I had the osteotomy, which my doctor said should delay the need for TKR for 15-20 years. I also had PKR in both knees. I had mine done at 36. Last Friday was my 6 months from the first surgery (right PKR and osteotomy), and 3 months from second (left PKR). Very happy with the results! I was no weight bearing for a month, followed by 2 weeks partial weight bearing. It was difficult because I was supporting myself on a leg that still needed surgery. Luckily, I was able to borrow a wheel chair.
