Revision TKR Wberry knee is up<

Yes, this can't come to soon, my Non-operative knee is just mad it has to do all the work. So it is hurting too.
may need a shoot in that one before long. it needs to be replaced, but i am trying to make it a few more years on it.

I'm anxious to hear about your appointment on Thursday -- hopefully the wait to schedule you for surgery won't be too long. I suspect that things will only continue to get worse until you have the surgery.

Sounds like a productive, but not necessarily comfortable, weekend.

Hey u. Been thinking of you. I pray that you get some answers at apt. And get date bumped up soon.

It's rough when no operative knee is mad. I tell you mine is real mad. I can't wait. Pain makes me cry.

I am glad that you have all stuff at house ready to go. Nice to have some one who will be there to help.

I bet it's hard for you and your wife. As it is me and hub. I have depended on him. And I know it's gotta be stress on them. With having them do a lot of the work it's hard. And also when the depression hits. Not saying you have it. But in general.

Feeling helpless is bad. I pray for a quick recovery. ❌❌❌❤️❤️❤️

@Pumpkln and @RestAssured I think I saw in a post you said you had a hinge knee with your revision. I have no idea what the OS is planning for me, and I guess I will find out or definitely ask tomorrow. I have done some reading on hinged knees. I worry about a few things though. It says they don't last as long because of the stress on the hing component. I also wonder if it will intensely limit lateral or slight twisting motions because of ridge structure. I know so little, so I thought I would ask someone who knows. If I don't get one , then it's a mute point, but I wanted to be ready and informed as I can be.

What implant your OS uses will depend on the condition of your lateral and medical collateral ligaments, and the stability of your knee. He will determine which knee he will use during the surgery. Could be a Cruciate Sacrificing, or a Hinged implant, what ever he uses you will have posts in your femur and tibia to better secure the revision. You will want to ask your OS which implants he will be considering once he opens up your knee.
I cannot tell the difference between the hinged implant and the first implant.

Does it matter what brand in any way, I currently have a Smith & Nephew black knee. I like there longevity numbers, guess I will ask which he uses when I talk to him tomorrow.

I can't believe I actually just watched a live revision surgery, maybe I could have been a doctor or even a surgeon. It was very fascinating, and i found myself asking questions like, how do you insure alignment when drilling without a guide. I heard statements like estimation often, wow one mis-estimation and you go through the side of the bone. Another reason experience by the surgeon counts.

Okay folks, leaving the office now to drive to Wichita, it will take 2 hours from Manhattan. Presurgeical appointment is at 1:30pm. I am really hoping I can get scheduled sooner rather than later.
The best would be surgery in two weeks, because that would work well with my schedule, but i will take what ever I can get. I already restarted my vitamin regiment, did my dental appointment more than 30 days out. Wonder if I have to get myself cleared again for surgery by my primary, I just had that physical 6 months ago before the last surgery and all was fine. Just trying to do everything I can to help this happen post haste.

My OS used my surgical clearance from my knee for my hand, but this was the same surgeon. A different surgeon may prefer fresher data.

Thanks, maybe because this surgeon has been consulted by my original might carry some weight.
I and hurting pretty bad, and aspirins and Tylenol are not helping with the pain like they use too. This every step hurts thing is getting old.

I'm in the waiting room now. Waving at ya @Kansas Teacher.

YEAAAAAA!!!!
I am scheduled for October 6, 2015 in the afternoon. He does his revisions last because the take longer. I got in that soon because they had a cancellation.

Well the exam and follow on discussion went well. I saw the PA first, he was shaking his head concerning the patella. He said he thinks the previous surgeon did a release and now I have this funky Patel laying over even further than it should and catching on the upper component. OS comes in later, tells me he spoke to my original OS again. Right off the bat he said we are looking at two options, which he uses will depend on what he finds. First is the spacer replace and re-align patella, second is replacing the upper component with a realignment. And correction of patella tracking and tightening knee joint with a combination of spacer and offset of new component. He gave the usual warning about blood clots, infections and thus. He said he likes the implant I have and will probably use the same if he changes out the upper component. I have to get a CT scan done so he can asses and check alignment and evaluate rotation issues he says. Have to do all the preop testing again with my primary. He said most of his revisions do very well, but there is always a chance of other issues, once again the usual warning.

I think with what I am doing, fixing the patella and looseness is the best outcome. I am looking so much forward to this surgery and recovery. He said he would be glad to address my other knee, but let's get the other fixed and well. I well, just thought I'd ask if I could get a bi-lateral. I think this will be a good fix and I will come back to him for the other too if all goes well.
