THR Two New Hips in Six Weeks

You will have your outings soon, @lovesstars!

I love the jasmine @EL11 but yeah, summers here are brutally hot now.:SUNsmile::SUNsmile:

Have to scurry today, something I'm not sure is even physically possible yet... But maybe I can semi-scurry.. :walking:

Happy One Month Anniversary!
I hope you have a wonderful day in lovely New England.
Are the leaves peaking yet? It's getting close here.
When the sky is blue, the reds, oranges, yellows along with all that's still green is a sight to behold. Love!!
Enjoy the rest of the week!
@EL11

@1stSurgery It was stirring indeed! I wish all the games started at 5 EST, easier to see them in full.

@Layla You are so thoughtful, You must be the best mom ever.

When we drove to the apple orchard over the weekend, the trees were not near peak but there were gorgeous swatches of color. This is a photo from two years ago, taken at nearby Institute Park (look, swans ...)

Yesterday the home PT came and said he'd discharge me from home services any time I was ready because "You're basically taking that crutch for a walk at this point." After he left, someone from the out-patient rehab place at St. V. called to reschedule an appointment for late next month, which I didn't have in my calendar yet anyway. I was going to start there the 1st, but asked her if I could begin next week instead and she said sure. I asked if it was oK for me still to be on one crutch and she said she didn't see why not. I requested Amanda, the therapist who first yelled at me to go see a surgeon, thinking she'd appreciate seeing the results of her advice/command.

I know it's helpful to see where we all are at certain points. I'm still pretty achy from the LTHR, hip to thigh to knee, and the right hip has become sore again too, though more localized in the hip. I am taking 10 mg of oxycodone at night, OTC meds religiously by day. I'm going to try tapering to 1.5/1/nothing with the oxy over the next two weeks. Some might dispute this, but everyone reacts to meds differently and I feel that even at 1/6 the allowed dose, my daytime mood is affected adversely.

Wishing you all a good day and good healing :)

Ohhhh @EL11 that photo makes me nostalgic for autumn! It's really beautiful!!!

As for the meds, I was very happy to do the tapering once hubby found a pill splitter and was surprised how little difference it made when I cut down. I found my pain was more a waking up thing that would improve upon walking, stretching and become more a stiffness than actual bad need to medicate pain. But for me I think that was the result of calling the OS when it had gotten so bad (after @lovesstars whipped me) and getting that added steroid med to the mix -which worked so fast. Took that one week and it seemed everything was improved from there on. Including my appetite which became around the clock ravenous for protein, carbs and fats. Wanting to eat every hour or so.

After stopping oxy I had some weird jittery unstable feeling for awhile, a few days, under a week I think. Hands were a little nervous. But that was all, no other symptoms

Good luck on the PT out patient.

And both games were crazy yesterday. I was in the car in traffic going out to dinner for the grand slam! Dodgers won but it went all night, 14 innings I think.

I’m glad your problem had such an appropriate and quick fix thanks to @lovesstars ’ friendly pressure.

That’s my primary pain too, stiffness upon waking, gets better after coffee, moving around and OTC meds.

Speaking of withdrawal, it’s going to be a little jarring when baseball season ends. It’s the only sport I follow.

Last year, the color never seemed to reach the glory of the previous year and it ended rather soon. Meanwhile we’ll have lows on the 30s in a few days. I have chimney guys coming Monday to do a service. The flippers has a fire going when we had the second viewing of this house almost a year ago. I know a certain furball whose evenings are about to take a turn for the cozier.

@EL11 can you bring you left knee up as in heel slides now? My right one, Sept 21st THR, still doesn't come up very much and hurts when I try so I don't force it. Oddly, it bends fine when seated and even when bending over for socks, shoes. But when laying down, it doesn't want to bend much. I think it's still some leftover result of my Hulk dislocation crew's handiwork.

Yes, @lovesstars was very persuasive!

And yes, baseball is all I watch in sports too so I guess we will have to get out more after the Series! Actually kind of perfect timing. Can't wait to see who the final 2 will be!

I have no problem with that move. The range of motion for it is pretty well identical on both sides now. The lying-down heel raises, with other leg bent, are more difficult on the left side though. Besides the hip to knee soreness on Hip 2, the only negative difference with the healing progression on this side was during the first couple of weeks, in the form of the electric-type quad pain that yelped a bit when I did the heel-to-butt standing exercise and big time when I took my first corridor walk at St Vincent.

Every time you mention the Hulk dislocation crew, I have a small question mark above my head. Did they actually injure you (above and beyond the requisite bone-breaking) during your surgery?

Yeah, we'll have to get out more. There will be many activities. I often miss beautiful Orcas Island, but it could be grim in winter. You'd have to keep a list of which restaurants were open on what nghts, because they operated on part-time schedules or closed altogether. Not to mention the 14-hour days traveling to LA with no small planes flying (car/ferry/bus/transfer to other bus/wait at SeaTac 4 hours for a flight to Burbank).

Everyone thinks it means Orca whales, but in fact it refers to ... let me look it up ...

"The name 'Orcas' is a shortened form of Horcasitas, or Juan Vicente de Güemes Padilla Horcasitas y Aguayo, 2nd Count of Revillagigedo, the Viceroy of Mexico."

Now you have extra incentive to get out to a cocktail party, @lovesstars, so you can work that into a conversation.

Silly me! Well, okay. Orcas Island and ALSO The Orcas.

Look what I learned today!

Literally everyone assumes it means the whale, why wouldn't it?!

Juan Vicente de Güemes Padilla Horcasitas y Aguayo, 2nd Count of Revillagigedo, the Viceroy of Mexico."
Try fitting THAT on a "Hello My Name Is" sticky badge! Which is probably why they didn't have conventions, as such, in the 18th century.

Well you're four days ahead of me @EL11 so I am counting on that knee bending up without pain while reclining in about four days time!

And yes, I suspect the Hulk crew did injure me but nothing that isn't reparable and is already healing. Ankle is still swollen and tender but much better.

Burbank, my airport of choice! I always call it the "Mayberry Airport". You've got Aunt Bee checking your bag at curbside... and then she turns up again at the gate to take your ticket when boarding! Barney Fife and Andy are flying the plane. So much better than LAX!!

Four days, put it in the bank!

When I lived in Half Moon Bay, CA, I took San Jose Airport to Burbank, easy to easy. Logan only goes to LAX, ugh.

@1stSurgery Big drama in the game! Fan interfered and stopped Mookie from making a catch, negated Astro homer!
