Bilateral THR Twice as Nice - JennyLynne's recovery

Ladies and gentlemen.... I made it down AND BACK UP the stairs!

Down was easy. Up... whoa... that took everything out of my legs! But I know it will get easier each time.

Currently laying with ice pack under each cheek while the muscles twitch like crazy!!!

:yes!::ice: As 59billy said, "it's an adventure" WooHoo!!

Thanks for the rundown and encouragement @JennyLynne! You and @Mojo33 are so inspirational. Keep it up! love hearing about your progress and even the pitfalls (rainy days make the sunny ones so much better!). You both are very good (and funny) communicators. I'm impressed you get physio to come to your house. I don't think they have that here in Canada, but I'm going to look into it.

@jwadds In Ontario, I was told you only get home PT if it is due to a traumatic injury or unplanned event. Scheduled surgery doesn't qualify. I would certainly hope a BTHR qualifies for both PT and occupational health home visits!

So last night was my first “bad” night. Grateful that I made it the first 10 comfortably... but wow last night was pretty rough. I had terrible pain around the top of my left knee up through mid-thigh.

I assume it’s due to working on the stairs yesterday and waking up some different muscles. But I sure didn’t care about “why” at 3am!

Been up since, trying to manage with meds. Starting to settle down a bit. Discouraging of course but part of the journey.

A friend is visiting and bringing lunch today and it will be a welcome distraction!

Also trying to keep myself from reading Avengers Endgame spoilers. Marvel movies are a HUGE deal in my house and it will be a while before I can handle a 3 hour flick. My boys said they’d wait till next weekend to go. Gee thanks... haha... still not enough for me!

Sorry you had a rough night, hopefully tonight will be better. You are probably right that it had to do with the steps and waking up some different muscles. You are definitely moving right along with this recovery.
:climb:

Aww, I'm so sorry, Jenny :console2:
I'm assuming, just as you, that you pain is due to the stairs and using different muscles.
Your visiting friend will most likely serve as a pleasant distraction.
I hope your friend is including dad, lol.
I'm envisioning you, your friend and your dad all camped out on your bed enjoying lunch together :heehee:
Hope your pain eases soon.
Big hugs
@JennyLynne

So sorry you had a bad night... Definitely awakening some muscles that had forgotten they were there. Perhaps if you make sure you are well medicated all day it will help tonight.. do hope so @JennyLynne.
Hope there’s room on that bed for three!![emoji23][emoji38][emoji38]

Layla and Hoppy, you are cracking me up!!! My friend said “so what, are we all going to cuddle?”

I kindly asked him to please stay downstairs while she visits. He said “oh of course!” But I think he was disappointed. lol

My friend stayed for 3 hours... it was so nice! But, amazing how just chatting for 3 hours wore me out and I immediately slept for 2!

Dad’s last night. The boys took him to dinner for a belated bday and there’s cake for later! (Which I’m sure all will eat in my bed, right??!)

I hope you get a better sleep tonight! Not sure I could do a 3 hour visit - I find I am tuning out most conversations in the house still.

@jwadds I used that pre-op but going for the big guns now. Some nights tho, the pain just sneaks through. I just hope for a good nap after a bad night!
