Revision TKR Totally recovered at last!

Hi Marian, Sorry you need to deal with all of this. I would try to speak to the doctor about having the Tramadol so you don't have to go thru more pain than necessary. For myself I know that Tylenol doesn't help as much. Right now I still take Tramadol 4x a day. Iplan on gradually switching to Tylenol gradually. Probably will switch 1 dose at a time & see how it goes. Please try to rest & ice as much as you can for now, and think of how nice it will be when your surgery is over and you can heal & get your life back again.

@jarabas That seems to be the format they are in. I have the files attached to an email and on a disk but I only have an iPad and a android phone (Galaxy 5) so I don't know what to do at this point.

@karol723 My family doctor won't give me another script. I'm going back to OS again the end of February. His office is an hour away and I can ask him then but in the meantime I'm stuck with what I have. I work as a nurse during the day so I won't take it during the day. I can't be slowed or foggy in my decision making.

Marian, just want you to know you are in my prayers. I wish I had some tramadol to send you - I know it is illegal though. I look at all the meds I was prescribed and then couldn't take and it seems such a waste to discard them. If you called his office, could you get a prescription? Or would you have to physically pick it up?

@Timetolive Janis I probably could send an email to the new OS and ask for a script and if they would mail it to me. It is always much easier for me to speak up for another person but of course not myself! I also have an appt with my psychiatrist this week and I know she would have no problem writing me a script so I can make it through until I see the OS. I also had a lot of pain medicines I couldn't take and disposed of most of them. I still have some to take to the pharmacy but I hate having to pay them to dispose of them.

I've basically slept the entire day away. I still can't believe how tired I get but I guess it's because I must not be sleeping that well at night. It takes me quite a while to fall asleep. My youngest is coming to stay over Monday night and I promised to make her some beef stew which she loves. I'll run out to the store tomorrow and I'll cook it tomorrow so she can have it when she gets here Monday. I work until 8 pm that day so it would be perfect for me too. I'll make a lot extra and freeze some for a quick dinner for me.

That's a great idea. She is a good cook already and she made lasagne on Christmas Eve for the family. Nothing better than goo old Irish lasagne!! Maybe I should come up with some new things for her to cook.

I'm glad to hear you slept the day away. You need to takeover it easy when you aren't working. I just got back from a 90 min visit to Walmart. :yikes: I really try only go every other week, but I was in need of toiletries and cleaning supplies.

I learned to cook just 5 years ago. I stuck to burgers, steaks and visits to my friends at dinner time! Now I love to try new recipes. I do like to make one casserole or dish over the weekend that will last a few days into the week so I'm not putting a dinner together every night after school.

@KarriB A 90 minute visit to Walmart is tough for anybody!!! I'm going to try to pick up just what I need at the small local grocery store. Over Christmas my youngest stocked up the house with paper goods and dog food. I also have lots of pastas and tomato sauce and some frozen chicken cutlets so I won't starve! My dogs won't either!:heehee:

I love my electric pressure cooker. I make lots of one pot meals that would normally take hours in a fraction of the time. It has allowed me to cook some of those comfort foods without having to commit to hours of prep and watching.

Marian, I would love to sleep the day away! I agree about teaching your daughter your recipe. That is something she will appreciate later in life. Even though my Momma taught me the "favorite" recipes, they never taste as good as when she cooked them. Have you been able to sleep in your bed yet? I hope you have a restful night.

@Timetolive I haven't been able to use my bed since my surgery. I can't lie on my back because it starts to hurt so I've always been a side sleeper but I can't turn my leg sideways because it causes a lot of pain from the knee up. I tried to sleep there on Christmas Eve because my family was sleeping in different areas and I didn't want a 80 pound grand dog to jump up on me. I slep only a couple hours at a time and then had to get up and sit on the side of the bed. It's ok because my recliner is very comfortable and on the cold nights I have a gas fireplace. My dogs stretch out on the couches here too.

Hi Marian,
Just checking in to see how you're getting along. Sounds like a daughter visit will be good for both of you.
If you need tired and true recipes, check out my cooking blog. There are about 400 +/- recipes on it. I've stopped posting but you can still see all of the past recipes (and read my crazy cooking stories!) broken link removed: https://www.thesoutherncook.blogspot.com I guarantee that I have eaten all of them! :heehee: @KarriB you might want to stop by too! I'm going to ask the obvious, have you tired sleeping on your side with a small pillow between your legs or under the TKR??? Worked for me like a charm.
Take care, my friend! Hugs from the cold South!:console2:

@Thesoutherncook I'll check out your blog. I don't usually cook from recipes. Once I taste something I can usually recreate them so I've never written anything down. I guess that's something I could do during my next recovery. My girls usually call me and ask how to cook some dishes. I have about 6 or so pillows in my bed of all different sizes and shapes. My knee just hurts too much unless I keep it straight and not on the side at all. I'm hoping it's because of my current problems and I'll get back to my bed after I have the revision.

I follow recipes and I wish I could do what you do, that is a real cook. My brother and my son are like that and boy can they make some great food!
I am very good with recipies :yahoo:!! So I will be checking out @Thesoutherncook blog too.

How are you doing? I had a busy weekend and Sunday I was pretty much useless. I can't tell if my fibromyalgia is getting me down or if I am overdoing and expecting too much from my knee. When I have these days I start wanting to postpone my 2nd knee. :dead:Tired and hurting.

@Glamg1979 I understand how you feel. That's a reason that I keep changing my mind about whether I should go ahead and redo this one or should I just leave it alone. Do I really want to go through this again and still not feel better? In your case I'm sure the fibromyalgia is making you feel the same way. it is a difficult decision.

:happydance:Ok, girls ( @Glamg1979 included). Tie a knot in the end of that rope and HANG on! It WILL get better. Even facing a second surgery, you know what to expect ( within reason) and you KNOW that you WILL eventually feel better ( Yes, Marian, I am sure you have doubts! ) but, you also have a Bonesmart "Family" here to love, support and pray for you! Big ol' Southern Mama hug to you both!

My oldest had her MRI of her brain done yesterday and has a doctor appointmenta week from today. As she put it in her text to me that she will see the report and have a lot of time to misinterpret it! I hope not!
