I am doing the stairs with crutch etc. The physio doesn't think its anything to be concerned about but to keep an eye on it and she would mention it to my surgeon.
Ive been thinking that the only thing different was the district nurse changing my dressing and I now realise she had me on my side which is against the precautions . I did think it was very uncomfortable at the time, but just thought it was the position I was in.

Hi Sharon, please don't worry about all the sensations you are feeling. Lots of soft tissues complaining as well as muscles. Are you icing regularly? Lots of rest is prescribed!

Hi Sharon

Not long back in from work and have just noticed you have had that concern about the movement, remember if you are worried in any way get back in touch with the hospital,
Lets hope Z is spot on and this is part of recovery everyone heals differently. .Do the sensible thing Sharon and take care.

Just had the district nurse round and she is very pleased with my healing and has now removed the dressing for good now. i am amazed at how brilliant the scar is, so much better than i thought it would be. It actually just looks like a long scratch to me and that is only after two weeks, will have to post a piccie !
I am walking well and have no pain, just a slight tightness in the morning,so i do a couple of bed exercises and it is fine after that.
The clicky thing i noticed disappears when i use two crutches instead of one, so I think I was kinda leaning into my crutch when I didn;t really need to, so I am thinking about my posture now and standing straight.
I am still taking it easy ( making the most of it ! ) but I am very pleased and happy with my progress and walking. I even walked out of the bathroom the other day into my bedroom and then I realised I had left my crutch behind ! :-O
This operation is a wonderful thing, it's totally amazing to sit here and feel absolutely NOTHING in my leg, whereas before I had it, every second of every day and night was dominated by that persistant ache and pain. Although I still have my restrictions and cannot drive yet, it's just brilliant to have a pain free life again.

Hello Sharon, what a lovely positive post :)

So pleased the incision is healing nicely and that your are feeling comfortable with your level of exercise and mobility.

Isn't it good to be pain free?

Lots of love xx

Brilliant new Sharon, you sound as though you are doing really well... I'm sitting here with my usual pains extremely jealous.

I know, my time will come!!!!

Thinking of you. xx

This!

I didn't realise how bad my movement and pain were until they were fixed. Glad it's working for you too Sharon.

Hi Sharon, you sound like you are making a wonderful recovery. I know what you mean about the scar, I remember being amazed at what mine was like after a couple of weeks too.

Its still very early days and things will just keep on improving. Don't do anything mad (like I did) and give your body time to heal

You'll be a new woman this summer!

Tanny x

Well done Sharon! Sounds like your recovery is just ticking along. Keep us update won't you?

Uktanny, I have uploaded my badge of honour now, I am really pleased with it ! It might be quite long, but it is a trillion times better than I thought it would be

Your badge of honour looks great! Wouldn't we all rather have our badges then the horrible pain we endured before our new hips!! Some days I forget how bad it was and then look in the mirror which reminds me of the surgery and why we go through this. Hang in there, you are doing really well.

I am so glad that you are doing so well. Keep up the resting and healing. You already walked without a cane, what progress.
I am still using one cane as I limp without it. Hopefully soon I can give it up for good.
Take care and rest and enjoy having no more pain in your hip.
Bea

Now things are getting more back to normal now. ie I'm back on the school run and walking outside with my new post surgery shoes, I am finding when I get back home my knee is hurting, it's not so much as an ache but a more sharpish type of pain.It almost feels as though I have twisted my knee the wrong way ( i haven't though ) . Has anyone else experienced this ? I am wondering if it's because my new shoes are making my walk " right " now and not the " wrong " way I was doing to protect my hip from the pain ????

You are right Sharon. The new "correction" in your walk may tweek that knee slightly. I experienced the same thing. Just take things slow. Maybe only wear the new shoes for a short time and build up the time. Everything is still trying to align itself post op.

Ice the knee a bit if it helps. A bit of paracetamol helped me as well.

Hello Sharon,

You sound really well. It's good to get back into a normal routine it still takes a few weeks and I'm sure a couple of more months to get back to "real normal"
My knee was always an issue, just very stiff all the time and sore it had been that way since straight after the surgery. I found once I got back to a normal routine, got rid of the 3-1 potty seat (bending more) plus getting in and out of the car the stiffness left completely and now it feels great. I'm also sure the knee is compensating for the new hip adjusting etc.

Have a great week!

xxooxx

Thanks Jacey and Sarah for your replies and Jacey, you answered my next question too ! I shall indeed take it slowly with the new shoes !
