TKR The journey continues

OMG you are going camping! I am so excited for you. There is no way I could do that without my recliner, blankies, and pillows. You are amazing!

@TML, don't forgot the ice! Can't live without it either!

@Amyjo you are definitely a TKR star. Nice that you are able to resume your life so quickly.

I never want surgery again! My OS said he didn't think the other knee would need it but there have been days lately that it's been yelling at me. I think it is mad that I give Lady Mary all the attention.

@mamazipp I don't know why I have been able to progress so well. I really think a lot has to do with my OS and being in good shape before helped me too. The knee went downhill suddenly so I didn't have years of struggling with it like some have had. I am just very grateful how things have worked out so far. I really feel for those who are struggling and who have to go back to work on a painful knee!

My left knee has a little arthritis but it does not bother me too much, I hope all I never need tkr on it, I've had a fairly smooth recovery, but once is enough for me!!!:hairpulling:

My other knee (Rusty) complained a lot since it was being used exclusively for so many months between my first and second surgeries. A cortisone shot has calmed it down a bit. Lucky me, I have to eventually get knee number 3!

My other knee bothered me in the beginning but not any more. I never want to go through this again!!!

@Floridagal maybe that's the key to your recovery...your quick action when it acted up. Mine was bad for several years and I postponed it with repeated shots of both syn-visc and cortisone. When I had the surgery the OS said there was a LOT of deterioration.
So the question is.......is it better to have TKR at the first inkling of trouble, or to postpone as long as possible?

Or are you just lucky?
@dianehelen maybe your left knee will feel better when the right one is doing its job after replacement?

Yesterday was the first day I felt that I could go back to work if I had to...Of course I'm glad I dont have to. But it's taken what, 5 months to feel that way?. I feel for the folks here who have had to go back so much earlier.

I hear ya! My left knee will need a TKR at some point, but I'm not too excited about getting it done. I definitely want to before I retire or more importantly, before my OS retires.

eft knee will feel better when the right one is doing its job after replacement

Reverse... Left is bad, Right is going bad.. Left will be replaced...

My whole left side is defective..
ectopic preg, left tube
cancer left breast
THR left hip
meningioma left side of brain
TKR upcoming, left knee

I must NOT be in my RIGHT mind hahaaha

@dianehelen, you are so much fun! It is really strange about your left side being attacked! I agree with everyone else, I don't ever want to have to have my other knee done. It's behaving pretty good considering what it's going through. The right one had always been the worse one and weak one. Hopefully, this is it! I'm so tired of being cut on!

@dianehelen, but you always have a way to lighten things up! That's why we all love you so much!

All I have to say is I'm not having any major procedure done until I retire and I can recover for one entire year if I so choose... This working stuff when you are not 100% is for the birds :bawl:

@dianehelen I hope so too...yesterday I felt pretty good, but Friday and Saturday were really rough!!! There is no way that I could have waited on my TKR until I retired, but had I really known that I should really be out for 12 weeks, which I think is much more reasonable, I would have made arrangements at work. Oh well it's done and I'm surviving, I'm just glad my hubby has been so wonderful not only through this recovery but helping me out with my dad!!!

@dianehelen You are one tough woman to have gone thru all of that and still have a sense of humor. I am sure you will sail through your TKR with no major problems. When the minor ones come us, as they will, you will be able to handle them with humor.
