TKR The journey continues

Good and bad news. Bad first: the AC went out on my RV. No camping this weekend but we are going to do a day trip to the springs tomorrow. Fixing the AC will be a major project. Good news: This morning when I walked the dog my knee felt better and it continued to feel strong all day. I ended up taking 5,352 steps - the most in a day since surgery. I am hoping that I have turned a corner.

Wow! You are my hero! Sorry about the cancelled camping, but hope you have a nice day trip.

I'm sorry to hear your camping trip has to be cancelled. I hope you have a good time at the springs. You are really doing so well now. You are well on your way.

Oh, Amy Jo, I am so sorry your camping trip is cancelled. I know you were looking forward to it. But, I also say, thing happy for a reason! At least you're getting out and taking a day trip! Have fun and relax. And all that walking you did, and your knee didn't rebel! Your corner has been turned!

How did the day trip go? Hopefully you had a great time with no pain or upsets.

Bummmmmmmmer about the AC and canceling the camping trip. So sorry to hear that. I hope you had fun at the springs—it sounds so lovely.

I hope you had fun on your outing... That's a lot of steps in one day, good for you:walking:

I had a great outing. At 9:00 a.m. I looked at the radar and saw nothing but rain. My friend just laughs at me with my weather obsession and off we went. There were times that it lightly sprinkled while we swam in the 72 degree spring. It took all my will power not to jump or dive off a 7 ft. platform into the spring. I just wasn't sure my knee Lady Mary would like that. It was a little swollen from yesterday's steps but I think the cold spring water took care of that. I mostly paddled around on a noodle. Then we had a great late lunch and nap time in the Chinook beside the Suwannee River. It was even sorta cool outside - the first time below 90's in a month! For supper we had ice cream. Can't beat a day like that!! :dancy:

That day sounds absolutely perfect! Sleep well tonight and wake up pain-free.

I've had ice cream for supper days! The best! I'm glad you can do the cold water. I've found that since my TKR I have a hard time with anything under 78 degrees. My knees just ache with the cold water.

Thanks for the good wishes. My weight is still going up, up, up. Ice cream doesn't help. This morning I was exhausted from yesterday and I had to coax Lady Mary to wake up and get flexing again.

72° water, brrr. Sounds like a wonderful day. You are really living a pretty normal life, just barely two months out. Wow, super Amy Jo, knee hero

I think ice cream and chocolate and nuts are my weight gain problem. I'll turn 65 tomorrow and will go back on my Nutrisystem diet on Monday! It sure has been fun being able to eat junk! It was OK when that was all I ate, but now I'm eating regular meals, too and still eating junk.

I'm getting back on track with my with weight watchers, is not easy after being all over the place with food for weeks!

weight watchers

Ahhh good old WW. Really the most balanced and sane of all programs. I did very well with WW, for a long time. I lost 160 pounds back in 2002-2004. I sorta fell off the wagon, when the losses slowed to a halt. I regained quite a bit of it, but then cancer, and surgical infections, and other fun stuff came into my life and a bunch of it came back off. Now I am down still about 90 from my all time high, but still about 70 from my all time low. At this point, I just try to watch what I eat, but wont tackle a full on weight loss at this point, as i know how to stay where I am , be relatively healthy, and not gain. Every time I seriously diet, it seems I gain back more. So stable and steady is how I live now.

For supper we had ice cream.

:rotfl:

Sounds like a wonderful day! I can't have dairy, so no ice cream for me. I'll have cashew milk ice cream on special occasions like birthdays.

@dianehelen - WOW! Losing all that weight is awesome. I understand about it wanting to be stable. I found I got almost obsessive when tracking calories and intake, but I still measure and weigh foods when needed. It's a challenge to find the right balance.

@dianehelen First congratulations on that tremendous weight loss. I know how hard it is to keep it off. I agree that right now it is something you don't need to think about. After surgery you will just need to eat as well as you can to aid the healing process. No dieting!

ya seems with each surgery I wind up losing weight, not a bad thing, but a crappy way to lose it.. oh well
