TKR The journey continues

You women have gotten me so enthused about camping that I checked a nearby spring. They have some "walk-up" sites available for Friday and Saturday. I told my friend I AM GOING. You can come with me or not. I just need to get away. :) I'll leave early Friday so I can get a good "walk-up" site. I can't wait! The dog goes with me. It is close to a small town so I can always eat out if need be.

Have fun!!!!!!

That is AWESOME you're going on a little camping spree this weekend Amy Jo- :wowspring:

I haven't tried Biofreeze. Hope it works for those who need it!

I'm absolutely amazed that at just two days past my 3 month mark I am experiencing so little pain. I canned peach preserves all day yesterday and my sweet new knee stayed right in there with me! I think you'll be elated at how much more mobile and without pain you'll be in a few short weeks! = )

@Suz I love watching your postings as you seem to be making slow, easy progress. Do you think for achy legs and such a Bio freeze or ben gay could help. The other night when my legs felt a bit restless and sore I wondered if something like that would be helpful.

I think maybe @zzevi! My legs & knees get achey pretty much due to arthritis and the fact I'm carrying around too much weight right now after being immobile for so long prior to my replacement. I used prescribed Voltaren ointment on my knee during that time and was glad it was an ointment because I felt addicted to it, lol! It's a bit pricey though.

I've also used the Ben Gay arthritis cream that was really good for me. I don't dare say this out loud but every now and then my 'other' knee will throw a little arthritis fit and the Ben Gay arthritis cream does pacify it!

I'm interested in what others have to say about the Bio Freeze!

@Suz I've had samples of bio-freeze given to me from the chiropractor for back and muscle pain, it's a good product. Most of the time my leg feels pretty good, sometimes I do get that restless type feeling in it. Those are the nights I toss and turn and wake up in the morning just as stiff and swollen as I was when I went to bed. Leg is achy this morning already and I have P/T in 2 hrs, not really looking forward to it, it's a humid, steamy day here in Wisconsin, time to go work on stretching on the stationary bike, can't make it around, but can stretch.

@zzevi, that restless leg feeling is quite typical. I remember having it for the first time in my life when I was about where you are in my recovery. It lasted a few weeks and slowly settled down. I seldom get it now unless I really overwork myself.

And let me say that when I woke up and just felt off with stiffness or swelling- I ENJOYED canceling my PT session. The BoneSmart mantras became so engraved in my heart I never once felt guilty for canceling. Which is not my norm!

And @Floridagal, Amy Jo, I'm still thinking about your camping trip- lol! Promise us pictures!!

I can do pictures! Right now I dread going up and down my back stairs, a full flight, to back things up. I will try to spread it over today and tomorrow. My BF said he'd be delighted to go with me. I'd make him help more but he has a bad hip and is refusing to have a THR. My OS says he'll come back sooner or later. Men can be so stubborn.

Don't overdo before your trip so you can't enjoy it. You want to have a good, relaxing time!

Yes they can- LOL!! I have a man in my life just like that Amy Jo- except it's his knee that needs replacing. And 'our' OS says the same thing- Allan will answer the replacement call sooner or later!

Funny, I was the same way. I extended my needed replacement out over a year. BIG MISTAKE! And then the holding onto the furniture & walls to get to the bathroom during the night arrived. I answered my replacement call quickly, lol!

He'll need something like that to get him back to the OS. I keep offering him my cane. :) Soon I'll be able to out walk him.

@Suz I am so glad you are doing so well.

Peach and apricot preserves are my favorite, yum!!!

I have used Bio Freeze and it does work. Amazon had a good price. I have used roll on and spray!!

I have used the Bio Freeze also after my shoulder surgery. It works well. Tiger Balm for arthritis is also good. I got the stick on pads and the cream. Amazon has it.

Ha! Ha! I just talked to my brother who is celebrating his birthday today. He told me about a fellow golfer who had a TKR and was golfing in six weeks because he had AGRESSIVE PT. I just laughed and told him about BS. He asked what PTs say about BS. Well, heck, they are not going to say skip PT. I wish I could talk to that guy and here the "rest of the story." I play to golf at 12 weeks.

I have tried a few of those topical things, including rx voltaren or whatever its called, and they never did a thing for me. I guess I cant see how a topical cream can get to a painful joint

I have tried Bio Freeze and Tiger Balm. Both work well temporarily. Any relief is better than none!

ya many people have told me that, also something called arnica? my husband seemed to think it helped in at times. Guess we are all different..
