THR The fun part

This week's been a heckuva ride - 2 shoots, 400 miles of driving, and 25 hours parked in front of a computer. This morning as I set off on the last one at 6:30am, I was exuberant with energy - I was going to make it across the finish line! And surprise: make it I did! Got back around noon, had a hearty lunch, and started to feel a little ache in the ol' op leg, so I retired to the couch for a bit ... which is where I remain now, enjoying my well-deserved power outage. Next week is MUCH easier - I'm mostly caught up, so if I can put in some weekend time punching keys and stroking trackpads, I should be golden for some down time.

Current status: pretty tired and sleep-lagged (I usually wake up MUCH later than 6am!!), plus my op leg is a bit achy, but only when I put weight on it. No ice required when recumbent. My right ankle is a little sore due to stupidity: I took over driving for my wife yesterday and the seat was too close to the accelerator, so rather than adjusting the seat, I just drove like a doofus with my foot-hyper flexed for an hour. At least some aches and pains have nothing to do with my hip!

The question is, can I bounce back overnight?

@Mojo333: As tired as I am, I feel rather proud - this week was a tough run, but I made it thru, leaving a swath of satisfied clients in my wake. Granted, I'm pooped, I have a bit of a headache, and I'm shifting into houseplant mode even as I type this, but I did it, at minimal physical cost. (He said optimistically - bills may still be due that I haven't gotten yet.) Note that I do NOT plan to try this again!!!

@SaraK: I love your analogy! Yeah, I think I'm gonna see how the club's daiquiris are tonight....

@AnnieRose2: Unlike Norma Desmond, I'll bet your closeup would be killer! (Oh wait, that is kinda like Norma Desmond....)

YAY ~ You did it.....I'm so proud of you!
You're my super hero!!!:roseshwr:

Unbelievable the energy you have and the will and strength to make things happen:wow:
Truly inspiring....geeez all I did my 1st 3 weeks was ice and elevate with a little PT and walking in between! (Actually that's not true....I do recall wearing the ODIC crown for 2 days...):elevate:
So happy you're chillin' and not in too much discomfort...think it's totally normal to have a few aches ~ especially after all your outings the past few days!

You deserve a beer! Here's to an amazing week and job well done
cheers!:cheers:

Yahoo....you made it! :yahoo: Good for you, Bone-obo!
You should be proud, we're proud of you. A busy week and big accomplishment.
I'll bet you're exhausted. Hopefully with some rest, ice and sleep you'll feel refreshed and good as new.
Wishing you a comfy night and sweet dreams! :yawn: :sleep:
@Bone-obo

So happy you got all achieved and I'm sure that most of all you are now able to get a feeling of how good that hip is going to get, and how grand life is going to be when all this recovery mess is behind you.
I don't want to be cast as the Debbie Downer in this production...
Glad you are going to give that hip some catch up time. It's what I had to do as I was back to work early also.
Hope you have a great weekend...I'm off to do some ATV riding in the woods and some floating in the pond with my little canine buddy. He knows when it is Saturday!

I have achieved a new understanding of ODIC. Vis a vis the line one defiantly crosses, there is no line. There is, as far as I can tell so far, no warning at all.

The 24 hours after my last post were miserable. For a while I was convinced I had the flu - after all, overuse of the hip should result in hip pain, right? But my reaction was systemic - body-wide muscle aches (arms, too!), temperature sensitivity, and Princess-Pea Syndrome. (As in, I was the princess and my mattress was full of peas.) When I tried to walk, my muscles in the op leg hurt like they'd been bruised - this broad, achy, pulling kind of pain. After staggering around a few steps, I got out the DemonStick, and that's what I've been using ever since.

Ah, well. It was a learning experience. Last night around 9 things started to improve, and last night I slept well, so I'm ready to see if I can get some work done today.

In the mean time, much to chew on regarding future exploits.

I won't say it, I promise, poor @Bone-obo .
I had that hypersensitivity reaction also..could feel every fold in a sheet under me, etc.
Yes, like a body wide inflammation!
I think you are whose to give it some weight bearing hell with ye olde Demonstick and please keep ice going as much as possible.
I hate that you are having a hard time.
We can only hurry this healing process by not hindering it.
I hope things ease for you soon.:console2:

Aww, I'm so sorry, Bone-obo. After all your hard work....now this.
What a terrible set back you had. Thankfully things are improving after an awful 24 hrs.
Hopefully with more rest today you'll be back to pre ODIC.
Wishing you comfort and healing. :console2:
@Bone-obo

a body wide inflammation!
I must have missed that day in class - it took me completely by surprise! Oh, well, it's just a thang. And I wouldn't have blamed you one bit for saying "it" - frankly, I deserved it! But if a child really wants to touch that hot stove, whaddaya gonna do?

Hopefully with more rest today you'll be back to pre ODIC.
Working on it now, if "working" can be defined as "maintaining a supine position and watching tons and tons of old movies and Netflix." Better today, expect to be even more so tomorrow!

You’re still my hero
Aw, AR2, thank you. Seriously - right now I feel more like an anti-hero, so that means more than you know.

@Bone-obo.....UGHHHHHHHH!
Just popped on for a second....totally feel for you! Hate it when our bodies reject our willingness to move and get back to business ~ you'll feel better SOON....I just know it! Took me 2 days of solid rest, ice and elevating when I joined the ODIC!
Sending you healing positive vibes right now!!!

Get some rest @Bone-obo - you'll be up and around and overdoing it before you know it. :heehee:

You're right, there are no warnings and what feels ok at the time can cause a lot of pain later. I had a setback when I Forgot my cane on my first day back at work (I wasn't using it much at that point except when dancing). Between being just over a week out of surgery, having PT that morning, sitting cooped up at my desk all day and the bathroom being half a city block away from my office, I was in so much pain that night that I considered going back to the walker. It only lasted a couple of days though and then I was out pushing limits again. :loll:

Hope today finds you feeling much better.:ok:

@SaraK: I dunno is this one's gonna repair in 2 days - my adventure in ODI lasted 2 solid days, so my hangover may be commensurate to the bender. However long it takes, I regret nothing - last week was glorious! (Not that I'll be looking for a redo any time soon, though....)

@Mojo333: Still bruised and a little battered, thank you! But upbeat! I've got a bit of work to do, and I think I'll be fine to park in front of the computer for a while - I may go to my PT appointment just to solicit sympathy.

Solicit sympathy from the therapist?
I do believe you like to worry me!:wink:
Please do take it easy:beg:
We want these hips to last a lifetime!

Hah! You sound like my wife! (And I mean that in a good way!) She's trying to get me to cancel the appointment, and I'm all "oh, no, they want 24 hours notice" and she's like "it's insurance, they'll suck it up!" But I'm not worried. Lindsay is a sweetie - and a genuinely thoughtful PT. She won't hurt me. Probably.
