THR The fun part

Beelzebub DemonStick

GENIUS! I don't know how this didn't come to me! I guess I needed a name to love more it being a cool and oh so on point name!
And in any case: Good riddance!

I will be testing my energy etc too. A friend from out of town is coming for a visit, which means we will be going out (we all know I am recovering so nothing too demanding but I don't want to be home all the time either) So I guess I will have to observe and see.
keep us posted!

Awesome progress Bone-obo - going out partying and carrying the cane - you'll be doing a marathon next :) How did the driving go? I haven't been game to try yet. Love your positive attitude.

Hi
Saw something on the Incredibles 2 yesterday which reminded me of you.
I've never saw the original....am I missing something?
Well today is the opener. Are you up for it, or feeling like you'll need to wait a bit longer?
Hope your weekend is good whatever you do!
@Bone-obo

How did the driving go?
My "driving instructor" had a tight deadline to meet, so we postponed the lesson until today. Maybe I should bake her cookies...!

I think so, but I'm a huge animation nerd and I know a lot of people don't get into that. The director of both is Brad Bird, whose first animation was the brilliant Iron Giant - he's a wonderful storyteller, and his stories have so much heart, and so much cleverness. We have tickets to Sunday - all the shows were sold out for today and tomorrow!! (I really miss the old days when you could just go to the movies on an impulse - "old days" as in last year!)

Nerdy annotation to the above - I should have said iron Giant was Brad Bird's first feature-length animation.

Bit of a blue day today - the dark side calls out to me. I think I'm just a little tired - gonna to fight if off with Netflix and napping - work can wait.

@Bone-obo - Allow me to introduce myself. I've been deemed a Wild Child and Renegade and, if Layla or Mojo actually had any gray hairs, I'd probably be responsible for at least half of them! I am the self-proclaimed President of the ODIC and, while ODIC (like misery) loves company, I'd really rather you not attend too many meetings. I do love your sense of humor - it will definitely help you on your recovery. There will be blue moments or blue days, but I think you will have no trouble finding a way to chase the blues away! As you've already noted, getting out and about with friends and family can take it out of you some, but it does help in so many other ways. Just don't over do it (this is a case of "do as I say, not as I do").

Enjoy the driving lesson and learner's permit. Cookies may help but jewelry works better (of course, that either means waiting a few days for something you order online or driving, in which case you wouldn't need the driving lesson). Whether you go anywhere or not, just having the freedom to know you can makes such a difference. I had to go back to work very early with both of my surgeries and was so glad I could drive myself and not have to try to figure out how to get back and forth. My first post-op was at 1 month but I'd been given the guidelines before hand so I "waited" until 1 week post op (told you I was a Wild Child).

Take care, get some rest and don't join me at the next meeting!

Thanks, Sara! The idea of wearing new jewelry actually makes me laugh! I mean, I love RuPaul's Drag Race, but maybe not that way.

Other than that, I really, really appreciated your story. Thanks.

Didn’t sleep. Painfully night.
OMG, get out of my head! That's how I feel! I'm treating it by binging Trollhunter on Netflix (I think I mentioned I'm an animation nerd) and staying on the couch. You?

Still going for my learner's permit tonight. Sushi has been mentioned. And I am soooo weak to the little fishies. :froggies: (Not a fish emoji, but the only aquatic animal I could find that's edible....)

I want you guys to know you've ruined a perfectly good Blue Day. Chatting with all of you on this and other threads has completely cheered me up, made me laugh, and wrecked my depression, possibly for the rest of the day.

Oh! I found a better sushi icon: :bigfish:

It's cabin fever, dear Bone-obo
Feeling restricted and a bit vulnerable...

You are doing yourself and your body a great service by taking it easy and doing it Right.
I'm sure your driving instructor appreciates it too!
Hope your weekend is a good weekend!

"Perfectly good, blue day"....is that the Oxymoron you intended?
Apparently BoneSmart can lift blue moods with humor which is great for healing.
I'm happy to hear you're feeling better.
Enjoy your driving lesson tonight, I hope you pass :driver:

Yesterday I moved so little that my wife was concerned I was gonna get a blood clot - house plants move more. Concerning my energy deficit Friday and Saturday, I wonder whether it was ODIC activities on Thursday (featuring PT day, plus an evening walk of modest duration), or just a natural phase in the healing process. I was and am slightly sore mid-thigh to the right side of my leg - about the place I feel ouchies when I climb stairs - so maybe that's a sign of over-doing? Hard to know.

In the mean time, today was long-awaited movie day: The Incredibles 2 with friends, planned before the surgery as motivation to get out. My wife's a big mid-century modernist fan, so she'd squeee every time a new set was introduced, nudging me and pointing excitedly at the screen. Good times! All in all, 2 thumbs up from the Bone-obo family.

Now, will I see a crash tomorrow from my partying?

This week I've got a lot of work to do, so there's no time for energy drain. I'm an editor and shooter (camera only!), and I've got 3 projects to work on this week, plus an out-of-town interview shoot I'm driving to on Thursday. Fortunately I work from home, and my wife is my grip/assistant on shoots, so there's backup - but I need to look healthy Thursday, no matter what. I've got PT scheduled MWF, but I'm planning to cancel WF so I'm ready for Thursday, and have Friday to recoup. Heal faster, hip!

Haha, I didn't realize the Incredibles was a showcase for mid-century modern design - I'll have to pay closer attention if I see it (likely when it come to On Demand lol). Sounds like you have a good plan for putting your best foot (or hip) forward for your work this week :heehee:

How was the theater seating for you? I took a memory foam seat cushion with me when I went out until my hip precautions expired, so I'd have some extra height and padding. Looked like a total dork but I was comfortable.

The seats were recliner-style, soft and cushy, so no problem staying legal. I like the idea of taking an extra seat cushion in the car, though - nobody has seats high enough for hip patients!

I'm happy to hear you made it to The Incredibles 2 and enjoyed it.
Hopefully you're no worse for wear tomorrow and have enough energy to get through your busy week.
Don't be too scarce. You need to make a pit stop here on ocassion this week. We can always use your humor.
Hope your night is peaceful and your week great!

Be careful, be safe and wishing you good luck on your shoot! Also sending positive healing vibes for a pain free day Thursday, hopefully it won't be too much for you but if it is....rest, ice and elevate after : )

BTW, I had two bad days where I just couldn't move....absolutely no energy after going out just 2 weeks post surgery....was feeling great but then that outing really did a number on me! After 2 days of rest, icing and elevating and NO PT., I felt better and was back to progressing! I think it's simply our bodies letting us know if we've done too much!
Sending you positive healing vibes for a smooth and speedy recovery!

Just catching up as I've had my own blue ( and dark purple ) days. You'll bounce back...maybe not as fast as before surgery. We tend to forget that even though we were in hospitals briefly, we HAVE had MAJOR surgery.
#3 for me and I am still impatient to get back to “normal” activites ( as is my DH!). Time and patience and listening to our bodies.... we'll all get there sooner than later! The best is yet to be.....
