THR The Cappuccino Kid - the story so far

I am sure it's hard to get "in the mood" for surgery #2. But think of it as finishing the project you started. You will enjoy that next holiday so much more know it's all done and dusted.

I think try to focus on the positives. Its easy to get worked up by thinking about having to though the surgery and recovery process again but as you rightly recognise by the end of October (only a couple of months) you will be well on the way.

Regards

Dave

Hi Cappy

Everything will be fine! :thumb:

I wasn't in the least bit worried about my 2nd surgery - I had every faith in my OS. But I must admit I wasn't looking forward to the post op pain again!
Every op is slightly different - in my case the 2nd post op pain was worse (didn't think that was possible but it was!) however the recovery has been so much quicker & I feel fab with no hip pain anymore! :wink1:

So pleased I have had both hips done & I'm sure you'll be glad to have them both replaced too! :thumb:

Cappy

It will all be done on the 23rd you got taken quite quick for your second hip and with the experience of dealing with the outcome from your left hip it should be a breeze.
Oh and I am of to have a couple of goldies, you can't have all the fun.

I had my pre op yesterday.

All went well I think, although obviously have to wait for the results of blood, urine and MRSA tests. My theatre time is 14:00 on the 23rd - not long now.

I am still getting quite a lot of pain from my operated hip - particularly in my groin and hip flexors. I'm quite concerned that this is going to be my "good" hip but I suppose I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Hi Cappy - I wonder if you are putting a lot of pressure on your new hip trying to avoid the pain on the other side? Just a thought.

Not long now - soon you will be the bionic man!

Hi There Kid

How are you doing these days?

Havent seen a recent post from you. Hope all is well.

Tara

Hi Cappy,
I just popped in to see how you are and to wish you luck with your second op. And I think (and hope) Jaycey is right about the pain you are feeling in your recent-THR-hip. It'll be ok. :thumb:
But I do know what you mean about having 'a moment' before your next op. The previous one (and memories of pain, rehabilitation, etc) is still fresh in your mind.
But as everyone else says, by October you'll be glad you have had the second one done. And you have that recent holiday to think about too (looked like a great place).
Will be thinking of you.

Suzie

Hi Cap. I tend to agree with Jacey on this one. Once the second one is done, there will be more time to recover on both. You can look at it as bilats. What you to to help the "new one", you can also do for the first.

Rest, ice elevate, and the pain meds...the first one will benefit as well. Also, once you start the pt, you can do for both. Pamper yourself in the meantime, if you can.

So glad you got the trip in before this. You can look back on the photo's and memories, as you recover...but no VODKA with the meds, LOL!

You'll be fine Cap. Anyone of us would have the jitters to go thru this again, present company included. But, just think of how great you are going to feel once this is over with.

You are four months away from the first so by the holidays you should be feeling fantastic. What a marvelous gift to yourself!

Hang in there Cap, the best is yet to come :wink1:...

One week to go!

I'm not sure that I agree with Janet's suggestion of no vodka with the meds but we'll see :snork:

While nervous about next week I am also looking forward to it. I was taken off all NSAIDs before my holiday and am really suffering now. My right (operated) side is sorer than it's been for weeks and my codeine consumption is ramping up. I've also put on about a stone since my surgery in April - can't wait to get back to the gym and get to normal again.

Is anyone here on Facebook? My Facebook page if anyone wants to "friend" me (is that a verb?)

Poor you Cappy - no NSAIDs! All the more reason to get this behind you. Not long now!

Can anyone recommend a surgery relaxation MP3 / download or similar. I'm looking forward to this surgery but still get myself up to high doh!

Sorry Cappy - I wanted something like that as well but never found anything. Before my spinal op I asked my GP for something to help calm me down. I only took it the morning of the op but can't say I noticed any calming effect.

Maybe other Smarties have a suggestion.

Hi Cappy, good luck for 23rd. I liked James Blunt for my iPod pre op but it's very much a case of each to his own I think! Look forward to hearing how you got on

Well I saw my GP today about changing my blood pressure meds and he's prescribed diazepam (valium). The smallest dosage - 2mg - and the suggestion that I take 2 the night before the op and 1 on the morning.

Hmm, not sure. He said it was just enough to take the edge off my anxiety. Nice to have in reserve I suppose but I'm not convinced I'll take them.

Take the diazepam Cappy.
It's only a small dose and will take the edge off of your anxiety.
You won't get addicted to it that quickly! :wink1:

Sorry, but can't think of any MP3 downloads that might help. As Beesquare says, it's each to their own.
I relax to Muse, but don't think they are really suitable as relaxation for most people.

Cappy

MP3?

The full monty was performed to You can take your hat off by Tom Jones.

you could practice to relax!!
