Bilateral TKR SusieShoes' New Knees

Wowza SusieShoes. Congratulations -:yay:to you on being released - I'd jump for joy :dancy: but that might set me back a month or more! You are a beacon of inspiration and hope - particularly with two knees to focus on. Continued good wishes for recovery on your terms! Can we all just give a big BOO to the leg press - :no-fin: Glad you didn't fall for it.

When we see a photo of a successful bilateral knee replacement it should be SusieShoes! Girl, you a absolutely amazing! What a joy to be released from both PT and OS! Keep on doing it Susie's way!

Great recovery, Susie, I'm 2 weeks behind you, hope I'm at the same place then, still having to use low dose pain meds.

that is fantastic Susie. congratulations ~ on with the rest of your life!

SusieShoes, after reading about your frigid, family Saturday, I had to go look for my blanket, lol! A/C set at 68 degrees? Yikes! That really is *sweater weather* for a Kneebie.

Now, after reading about your shoe store, possibly spit driven experience, my stomach is in a knot. Appetite gone. Just.....horrendous!

However, I've thoroughly enjoyed everything else here today, especially your being freed from PT; yeehaw! Your OS is my kinda doc.....your PT....well....not so much, lol. I can't believe he thought he could manipulate you into going back there, *just* to do a leg press! Yeah, sure buddy.

I had PT this morning and drove through a similarly empty city; it's great isn't it?

We're going to have a fun here on the July 4th celebration. Just because we can't go out join in the fun, it doesn't mean we can't create our own in our minds! No painful knees, back, hips or feet for just a little while!

What a fantastic visit to your OS, Susie! You've done so well! :yes!:  :happydance: :yay: :friends:

Susieshoes! Released at 8 weeks - what a perfect report card ! Congratulations to our bilat posterwoman ! I started reading your Week 1 posts to guide me along. I'm at Day 4 and probably will go home tomorrow, day 5 on the 4th of July. Thanks for all your humor and practical details, they make your posts so readable!

Thanks, everyone! It feels wonderful to have my OS sign off. He's an excellent surgeon, highly respected (hey, that's why I picked him), and he was so warm and nice today. We had a nice talk and he had some lovely things to say about how he assesses his TKR/THR patients pre-surgery and why he thought I was a good candidate for bilateral replacements. Nothing to do with my BMI or fitness.

I have fishnets! I have glitter! I have shoes!

Congrats on being released! That is terrific news! It sounds like you had a terrific visit and a busy day. It's great being normal active, isn't it?

Your OS sounds great! Isn't it so nice when we have realistic docs who want to partner with us?

Happy dance!!

@Pheebs52, life certainly is more interesting when we get out of the house! I love this time of year. The lazy heat, the half-empty streets. The Nordstrom sale. Whoot! :loveshwr:

The last three weeks I have improved soooo much. It's been eye-opening. I never would have predicted it, especially for Lefty. Lefty feels today much like Righty did at week 4. Slower progress, but progress I notice and that lifts my spirits.

Joining all others to share the great news and great recovery. :wave:Independence in more than way for you. Free of pain.
Hurray!:yes!:

You can say that again Susie! I'm just not *prisoner* material, lol. Did you get the Nordstrom e-mail about the sneak preview sale online? I'm sure you did, but just in case not, mark 7/13 on your calendar!

To progress in all forms!

Congratulations on being released from OS and PT!! You truly are an inspiration to us who are getting ready to take the leap. When my mind tries to talk me out of having this surgery, I login to Bonesmart and read success stories and hope I can do it too.

@jboles, you CAN do it! None of us are Wonder Woman, (though Susie might be the closest) and all of us have managed. Granted, some have a smoother initial recovery, but it seems like we all end up in the same place, give or take a few degrees of flexion and extension. It's those first 2 weeks that are the real bugaboo; ugh! However, with the right combination of pain meds, ice and elevation, it's manageable. After that very rough period, things begin to look up a bit. Begin is the key word, but...you'll find each week brings some new victory; you just have to look for them sometimes.
