So 5 years out of my first rt shoulder replacement and when I went to see surgeon for the left shoulder replacement check up had them do xray of right one. Seems I'm losing cement can see piece floating in xray. Dr said not to do anything yet. Shoulder now hurting and need other arm to move it This is probably due to going back into classroom and restraining kids again!
Also neck and lower back so bad pain management dr handed me off to see a surgeon
Can anything else fall apart on my body??????
Last vent for awhile

Sorry you are having trouble with your TSR , let us know what the surgeon says.

Ohhh noooo. So sorry to hear there are problems. Hope you can get it fixed soon. Pain is NOT good!

Well new issues have come up.

Since I cannot bend at the waist, have severe lower back pain, pain and numbness and tingling down legs, also found out I have a right drop foot. Have been seen by pain mgmt Drs who said there is nothing more he can do but he recommended surgery. Saw top neurosurgeon, who incidentally followed in her father's footsteps (he did my dad's surgery) for spinal stenosis and few other issues which I went blank from after seeing surgeon. So more scans MRIs and X-rays to see what to do.

I feel that all the pain Drs do is a temp band aid fix and if I don't feel anything I will probably do more damage. I was wondering if a drop foot could be the result of the 2 hip surgeries I had?

Thanks for always letting me vent
Susanne

Oh my, Susanne.....I'm so sorry to hear about all this! I'll tag @Josephine about your question on the drop foot and hip surgeries. But my thinking with your back problems is that it is probably related to your spinal stenosis. I'm glad you're getting some attention for your back problem. It's not a thing you want to let go. I'm betting New York has some top shelf neurosurgeons, so shop around until you find one who has answers for you. My husband has dealt with neck and back problems for decades and he has had great results from the surgeries he's had. When you find the right guy (or gal), it can really help.

also found out I have a right drop foot.

Your first comment implies - correct me if I'm wrong - that you 'recently' found you have dropped foot. If this is correct, there is no way it could be connected to hip surgeries carried out in 2007 and 2010!
Further more, if caused by hip surgery, a dropped foot would show within days. So I agree with Jamie, it's much more likely connected with the spinal stenosis.

Surgery set for May 19 laminectomy
Some fusions no rods or pins
Drop foot definitely related to back issues The funny thing is the surgeon who is doing mine, her father did my dads surgery in the 70s
Guess it's karma

Glad you're getting this taken care of. Hubby has had 2 laminectomies and they worked just fine. Hopefully this will be the end to your back problems.

Best wishes on the 19th --- how are shoulders behaving with so much back stuff? How much time are you taking away from kids and are you able to go back.

I'm guessing my working with little ones have done my body some damage -- I can hardly imagine what havoc your career has taken on your body.

Good luck

Thank you all for the well wishes. Im so used to getting body parts replaced that this surgery is getting to me. I've decided to work up until Wednesday so I don't panic too much
I've really got to stop reading so much about the recovery time 4-5 months ? I'll be out on disability. Not sure if I want to go back but go on permanent social security disability
So many decisions to make
My shoulders are fine just a little achy on the right one every now and then. I think it wasn't so bad because my rotator cuff is in tact. So recovery wasn't too bad. The worse part couldn't get my hair up in pony tail
I think out of all the surgeries I had the knee takes the cake.
I'll keep you all posted
Thanks again for the well wishes
Susanne

I certainly understand your fear of surgery itself. I just had my second lumpectomy for breast cancer last week. (First was 16 yrs. ago.) A minor surgery as compared to joint surgery and yet with a history of so many surgeries (eleven), this one was really getting to me in the days before it. As it turned out, I did fine and recovery has been quite easy. So, I will tell you what a dear friend told me--as you go under, imagine yourself in a beautiful situation and then leave it in God's hands.

Hi all. Surgery cancelled due to blood test results. Problems with kidneys
Too much Advil and aleve ??
Going to specialist today. Will keep you all posted
A little disappointed but everything happens for a reason

I'm sorry to hear that, Suzanne. I hope the kidney function will improve once you stop the offending drugs.
Do let us know how you get on. :friends:

Sorry you have to wait, but glad you will know what is going on with your kidneys. :console2:
