Please don't minimize your feelings. Just because somebody is worse off then you doesn't make your worries and anxieties any less important. There will always be someone worse off, but you don't live their life, only your own.

Practice makes perfect. I've had many physical boundaries over the years and have always managed to work it out somehow. Usually, it was never as bad as I imagined it would be. You'll think of something, I'm sure.

Never worry that there are thorns among the roses, instead rejoice that there are roses among the thorns.

Question for all of you... As you know I am the planner and I have been thinking about the beach and the condo we rent. There really is not any high seating. Have you had any experience with zero gravity chairs. Would they be ok for hippies? We have beach chairs but they are low. I have a captains chair but it is a rigid 90 degrees. So I was thinking of the gravity chairs. Amazon has them. Our trip is not until September.

I think that by September you'll be sitting wherever you want and never giving your hip a thought. I wouldn't worry about buying a special chair unless you have some other reason for wanting to do so.

Nice to get rid of the staples isn't it? Now the massage can start. I agree that by september you will be able to sit anywhere but low chairs may be hard to get out of. I think a gravity chair will work much better and be comfortable. I will try mine out when we go to our cottage on the weekend and let you know.
I know that I am getting stronger every day and it is getting easier to get up. I put my high rise throne away today too. What can I say? I'm a rebel. :martini:

Yeah @Granny Di ! Ok tell me about the massage. They put steri strips on. 22 cms long and 22 staples. Guess it will look like a centipede lol. I definitely massaged knee after replacements and PT would knead out scar tissue, so tell me more. Thanks for letting me know how you do with the gravity chair. Good to know about the throne. Hubby is quite tired of running upstairs. Hehe. One bad thing is appetite has returned, don't want to gain what I loss prior to surgery. Trying to stick with fruit and veggies with protein and limit carbs. But gosh I am craving the crisp folded over Lays potato chip lol. They better stay in the store. Have fun this weekend.

Thank you Alex the Cat. Just two weeks out and still feel like I have to calculate every move.

@sunbunny, you seem to being doing very well and in such a short period of time...it's very encouraging! I'm so happy I found your thread! I too am the proverbial planner, but now I can sit back and rest while you take care of all the vacation issues (the ones I will be employing at my upcoming 51st annual beach trip)! Ahhhh...so nice you're doing all the work for me! :)

Sunbunny - I had those steri strips put on after the staples were removed and they lasted one day. Sort of a waste of time. I just put polysporin on and massaged the wound and it feels better every day. The only problem was that I had a cute new BLACK nightgown and the polysporin took the dye out and ruined my good yellow sheets.
Bummer.

@Granny Di Hmmmm.cute nightie.....lol. I meant to tell you I love birds as well. Outside my window glorious yellow finches have been taking turns at the feeder. And I have several pairs of cardinals. I had to buy squirrel proof feeders because the dang ( and I am being nice here) squirrels ate the food and then they ate the feeder. $&?&! I also oil paint birds. Although I have had a robin 75% finished for six months. Maybe if I start feeling better I can regain that interest. I dabbled in oil pastels but I need to take a class to learn more of the technique. Several of my painting buddies have mountain cabins and leave for the summer to go up there. I have always visited them but don't think I will make it this summer. We have taken art classes up there with a local artist.

@sunbunny
I tried watercolour painting and love it but have no talent so I switched to photography -quicker results and still fills the creativity outlet. I knew I would have to give up or reduce my active lifestyle some day with the way my joints and back were hurting so I got involved in birding and trying to take pictures of them. Migrant birds are just arriving now and my goal this summer is to photograph some warblers. What mountains do your friends go to?

Thank you @Cynthia777 . Hooray, sound the horns, pass out balloons, I used the grabby thing to get more toilet paper out of the cabinet. Hehe. One less thing that I had to ask honey to do. Thank goodness there was a stash there. Vaseline makes a spray on lotion that I have used on my legs. Yeah. Small things. Not much else accomplished....made it to the office and caught up on household bills. Did you know Target ships free? I have become a virtual shopper.

Sunbunny, happy you sound so good!! Moving right along, I wish I was were you are instead of waiting another six weeks!! I went back to work, I'm an RN and work in the operating room, it was a little rough but I survived physically as well as mentally!!
Don't you love doing for yourself... Like getting your own toilet paper, small things in our lives...lol
Sleeping together was an issue for us as well...I felt like Ricky and Lucy, my hubby would tuck me in every night, I was really weepy about it but guess what, we are sleeping on the se bed again... Woo hoo
Keep improving and know I think of you often!!

@PDA I am so proud of you. I know how hard that is. I went back to work teaching kindergarten after my first knee replacement. Yikes. You have a very demanding career. I thank you for all the care you give to others. I pray everyday for the hands that take care of people. It makes a huge difference in the outcome. Six weeks will be here before you know it. Laughing out loud about the sleeping. I really miss that too so I am holding onto your progress. @Great Aunt Janet I think I need more grabby things. I never have one when I need it. My house looks like a rehab facility. Now if we all could actually be together, wouldn't we give everyone a run for their money! Tell me more about the goats.

@sunbunny, I know exactly what you mean about the rehab facility decor! Crutches, raised loo seats and sockputter onners adorning every corner... I am so into it that I didn't notice that I have only been wearing 'old lady shoes' (as a regrettably handsome ambulance man told me the other night at the racing) ALL THE TIME!!! I kind of liked them - before he said that - what with their velcro and elastic and nice stable bottoms, but now I must get my grabber and rummage through the bottom of the wardrobe hoping for something equally comfortable but less, er, identifiable!
:nah:

You sound so upbeat, and you are 10 days behind me - and I must say, the last 10 days things have got easier and easier, so hopefully you are in for a good time too. Some things seem slow, but each day something improves.
:yahoo:

And yes, goats are lovely - kids (children, humans) have homemade light carts that get harnessed up to trained pet goats and they race - in not necessarily straight lines - 50-100 metres, into the arms of waiting catchers. Funny and traditional for this region - families used to have harnessed goats to move water or firewood. I don't have my own goat but I love watching them! Pics are at BarcaldineGoatExpo on facebook!

@Great Aunt Janet just looked at the goat races on Facebook. Too cute and what fun you have. My cat Smokey has not adapted to all the equipment changes and has acted out some. So I have kept a small toy water gun to scoot him with water when he goes psycho. My grandson took the water gun on the porch and gave granddaddy quite the soaking today and threw me under the bus. I might have said a little something. Hehe. That was the highlight today. Now if I could just sleep for four hours tonight. Zzzzzzzzxxx
