As for these people who allegedly make miraculous recoveries - while there are a few (a very few), most of the time these wonder-people are usually friends-of-a friend, or even more distant connections.
I have a friend who is probably one of the subjects of the miracle recovery urban myth. Yes, he did go back to work only two weeks after his knee replacement - and he proudly tells people so. But, he did it in a wheelchair. His wife drove him to and from work; he was so exhausted when he got home each day that he slept for about 3 hours; and he didn't have to think about cooking or cleaning. He's forgotten how much pain he had, and how much trouble he had, trying to concentrate while he was at work.
I'd be inclined to take with more than a pinch of salt all the stories of people who recover super fast.
