THR Snickers has a brand new hip!!<

@snickers , you are a walking advertisement for "so nervous before surgery I was beside myself but look at me now!", I love it! It sounds like you are doing very well, and I'd certainly do things that made my hip feel good! But I can tell you that biking is not one for me. Messes with the flexors, and I want them to stay as loose as possible and not irritated. Biking may be the hardest activity for me to resume!

@MyAussieGirl My husband started an in-office exercise program a year or so ago to combat fanny fatigue, which includes walking up the stairs backwards. I tried it at home, but it hurt the then-bad hip so much I only did one of it. It does work all kinds of different muscles, too. He has a GREAT rear view :heehee: as he is also a swimmer. All that flutter kick-- I should take that up too!

Was trying to post a YouTube video of a guy that had posterior hip replacement and his first 14 days of recovery. It is amazing!
I just Google posterior hip must see and search videos.

oh he probably tap-danced his way off the operating table, right? My OS bragged on one of is colleagues who had this anterior approach, about how he was out playing golf at two weeks. I have to not believe him, because at that time, his only post-op precaution was to not get into the position a golfer gets into at the follow through of the swing. No internal rotation until the capsule rebuilds. This time around I didn't have it; they'd changed it to "no torquing the leg".

I do believe you that this guy showed us his amazing two weeks, but I take everything but classical music performances and silly cat videos on Youtube with a barrel of salt! And the cats sometimes!

This guy is walking up and down stairs in two days....heck I couldn't get out of bed by myself the first day! This guy was really in shape before..I mean like six pack abs in shape. Your probably right...really hard to believe it.

@Josephine I have a question...when is it safe to sleep on the operated side? (With the pillow between the knees of course) I had an aqua seal bandage after surgery for about 10 days. Then gauze covering for about 2 days. No bleeding oozing or leakage at all. Is it safe to sleep on now or should I wait a little longer? Thank you .

I was doing stairs as soon as I got home the day after, but not in a 6-pack kind of way LOL. Like a toddler, good leg up first, bad leg down first. I was really lucky and could go down normally in about two weeks, but the first hip was not at all that fast. Up is another story, sigh.

I'd call my OS office to find out what they recommend re sleeping on op side. Lots of people have come up with workarounds involving an entire Bed Bath and Beyond's worth of pillows. It's SO hard to have to sleep only on the back, or even back and the other side.

Certainly not at 2 weeks out! Continue back sleeping until your restrictions are lifted, usually about 6 weeks. Then you can lie on the opposite side with the pillow of course!

Thank you @Josephine...I will wait. I went to my last PT session and I don't have to go back! My walking is good, my stairs are good. He sent me home with a list of exercises I can now ignore. Just gonna ride my bike and take my walks. Feeling really good!

I've been doing great this weekend, my daughter and son in law were in a wedding so we traveled a couple hours away and stayed in a hotel and watched my 6 month old grandson. He sure makes me feel young! Hip is a little sore but nothing serious, actually feeling really good. @MyAussieGirl I'm so happy you got things sorted out...was worried about you! Like you told me....gotta be strong. You are almost 4 weeks in....and I'm only 3 weeks tomorrow. Just think a couple more weeks and some of those restrictions will go away! Whoo Hoo!! Party time!!!!!

Wow @snickers
Amazing for you, traveling several hours by car, spending a night in a hotel room, babysitting a 6 mo old!
More than I was willing to bite off that early on. It sounds as though your recovery is going really well.
Keep doing whatever you're doing....it's obviosly working.
Best wishes for a great week!

Wow @snickers you are doing well. Color me impressed. Sounds fun..you know it's normal to have some pain this early. I did this before. I too can't wait for the restrictions to go away it makes the time crawl with some of them. Sitting way up on the toilet, how one moves, pillows everywhere and so many crazy rules ya know. But when it's all over it's YAY.

Your weekend sounds awesome ...hugs

Thank you.....the only thing I'm doing is walking and riding my recumbent bike. I feel truly blessed...for this new hip and for all of you here and your support. By the way, when we got home, my wife and I tore our dryer apart because it was making a noise...now have parts ordered and ready to put it back together when they come in. Thank goodness work doesn't know how well I feel!
