Jo-Riley. When she laps water, she splashes drops onto her face and then looks at them cross-eyed. She's a little paranoid and strange, but I love her.

Now that is a cute gentleman of a cat.. Sadly I am not a cat person, my preference are Labradors.. Sigh!

Poppet, yep, retired. I'm in decent shape and I'm doing well post-op, but I would not be wanting to work 12 hour shifts as a nurse right now, and I'm in awe of folks (like Tammy) who go back to work so soon. It is one thing to go for a nice easy bike ride and lunch, and come home and rest, ice and read for a couple of hours---altogether another thing to reassume the responsibilities and obligations of work. She IS a lot younger than me, though:wink: But I will have to say, I couldn't have taught a calculus class on the best day of my life! darn!---you are a she-ro!

Sissy, what can I tell you...I'm a math nerd! I was a mechanical engineering major in college until my mother became terminally ill. Between taking care of her, raising a family and working, I just had to do something to get out of school with a degree. I went to a college fair with my transcripts and sold myself to the highest bidder. The college I graduated from promised to make me a math teacher in 2 semesters! Sold!

Your kittys are gorgeous. I have always loved cats but alas I am very allergic. They give me hives! So therefore, I have to admire them from afar.

Let us know how the new hiking shoes work out for you.

Tammy

Where in hell did I put the leftover Percocet???:gaah:

Guess who is the new star of "I Knew Better But I Did It Anyway!"

I was achy to begin with but I really, really wanted to go, and figured I wouldn't go too far...went farther than last week, it was just so interesting, lots of deer, gopher tortoises, pileated woodpeckers, wild turkeys, and the woods were so pretty---and now I'm really aching and my back hurts, too...

But, hey, the Keen hiking shoes are great---feet feel good:thumb:

May need to reevaluate my volunteer river patrol for tomorrow, but we'll see....

Well, it's what happens when you do too much. But gosh, I can hardly blame you---I love wild life sorta up close and personal. BoneSmart cocktail and some moist heat and resting may help. Please take care---keep us posted. We care.

Sissy, hope you found the Percocet's by now and that they have kicked in for you. Is some of the aching and back pain from just working them out but good today? I wouldn't cancel your river patrol tomorrow...wait and see how you feel. Nothing beats a small workout to get rid of the kinks, aches and pains from a previous intense workout. One thing I noticed is that in spite of how you feel, your love of being one with nature and getting out there and doing something comes shining through loud and clear.

Keep me (us) informed as to how you are doing. You are our role model for recovery!

Tammy

Thanks darn! I found them but decided I don't need one after all. Heat on my back, and ice on my hip, and I had a nice simple dinner and now I'm watching an episode of Mad Men, and I feel better just knowing I don't have to wear those bras and girdles and high heels they had back then in the '60s.

Not hurting when I'm not walking, so elevate and ice is it for now.

I did have a great day. I can get so "in the moment" while watching and photographing wildlife, I forget everything.

Percival definetly looks the gentleman.

Hope your spirits are good, as you seemed like you may be having some discomfort, and you are doing so fantastic and as they say recovery is not a straight line,

Sissy, do you have a bumper crop of deer down where you are? In Ohio, the population is so out of hand that the DNR is begging hunters to be sure and take their full limit.

MaxBuck I haven't heard anything like that, but we have a lot of wildlife in general down here. The bears get into a lot of trouble in some of the upscale neighborhoods that have been built in their habitat---then the folks complain about bears in "their" yard:rolleyes: The bears I see when I paddling my kayak are pretty shy---hard to get pictures of them because they run.

bottomshollow Thanks! I ended up taking ibuprofen 400mg and a Robaxin at around 8 yesterday evening; slept well and feel like a new woman this morning. Just a little stiff, as usual when I first walk. But I think I will postpone the return to my volunteer work until later in the week, and have a lazy day today. Worked out Thursday, rode bike Friday, hiked yesterday...maybe later today I'll do a light workout at the Y and get on the stationary bike for a while---bike riding seems to help more than anything:bicycle1:

Yay! Sissy is feeling better. Nice to see you indulge in a down day. Gives us mere mortals a feeling of satisfaction that even super heroes need to rest :)

darn! Super hero? Super fool more like it.:snork:
How are you feeling, Tammy? Is more work on your schedule for this coming week?

Hi Sissy, Hope you are enjoying your down day, darn! is right you are a superhero, not just for all you are managing to do during your recovery, but how much hope, light and encouragement, you bring to this forum. Have a good one

bellaroma Thanks, Beth, for your kind words. I hope you're feeling better today after the low terlit mess up.

I feel a whole lot better and was so tempted to go riding or go to the Y, but I abstained. Went to the health food store for wheat berries, ground flour and made 4 loaves of bread, and now just lazing around reading Ian McEwan's new book Sweet Tooth.

If I feel this well tomorrow, I'm going to the river:SUNsmile:
