THR Sharon's Anniversary Waltz

Hi Sharon,

Glad to hear that you are done, had some gram crackers and a bathroom break!!!

Take it nice and easy and I hope you can be a zero on the pain scale while you are there at the hospital :thumb:

Take care,
Cardie

Sharon

I have read your thread and many of your posts on others' threads. You sound like such a neat lady. Want to welcome you to the land of two artificial hips. I hope you find, as I did, that recovery from the second is easier and less stressful, since you have already experienced hip surgery once. Your life will be so much MORE without the awful pain in your hips. With your common sense and upbeat attitude, I am sure you'll be doing all the things you love in no time!

All the best

Oh, Sharon, FANTASTIC news!!! I'd say did those grahm crackers in chocolate, which studies show aid in the speed of THR!

Yes, no sleep in hospitals. Hopefully some naps.

Healing hugs!

YAY SHARON!

I hope the recovery shocks you in how well it goes...

Looking forward to more updates,

Z

Hi Sharon

Great to get that first year in without any problems and everything appears to be going fine for you, all the best for hippy no2.
So sorry to hear about your mother Sharon and I am sure she will be watching over you for support with No2

Billy

Z, I am shocked! I'm already home!

Billy, I wanted to call my mom when I got home to let her know I was home so quickly. It is very distressing that I can't call her.

Elle, the graham crackers were not chocolate covered, alas, but my sweetie of a daughter brought in a delicious Brownie to tease and tempt me.

Cardie, not zero, but not very high either. I am staying very much ahead of the pain.

Suki, it's easy to stay upbeat when everything goes so smoothly.

This hip is truly even easier than the first one so. Doc says very little blood loss. There is no swelling. I can get in and out of bed by myself, manage the bathroom by myself. I did end up with the Lovenox injections after all....turned out my insurance didn't cover the Xareltol, which is fine with me. I don't really want to be a guinea pig for new meds.

I can't believe how different in a bad way my hospital was this time. They've had a lot of staff cuts, so there was a lot of waiting and waiting for requests to be handled. My roommate, with a knee replacement, wet the bed a couple of times because the aide didn't come soon enough. It's good that I had few needs....and also why I chose to come home today instead of waiting till tomorrow.

I feel like the poster child for hip replacements. And now it's time for a nap.

Absolute fantastic news :egypdance:evrything seems to have gone well so you know the script now plenty of rest as you will feel gre, don't overdoo it PLEASE.

Sharon, Great news...

Now don't go showing off to the point you regret it...but you can show off a little!! :happydance:

You still had major surgery and you need to be cautious until all the bits settle in.

A week of cautious with plenty of rest never hurt anyone!

Hi Sharon,

I bet your mom would be thrilled to know how well you are doing. I'm sorry you can't call and share the news.
I miss my mom too...

Take care,
Cardie

Great news--Poster Child Sharon!! I know you will be sensible about what you do from here on out ... but the worry wart in me still needs to say it--please be careful and don't overdo. There, I said it, and will shut up now. You've been through this before. It is truly amazing how well you do after hip replacements. Yipppeee!!!!

Take care,

Dorothy

Hi Sharon

How are you going now after being home for a while?

So glad you got home quickly. Sounds much better than an understaffed hospital. ...and may you remain the poster child both in how well things go and in how well you take care of yourself

Eat, sleep, pee. It's a pretty simple routine. Trying to read, but I keep nodding off. Which is just fine with me. I am happy to sleep my way to recovery. The home health nurse came today and checked me over. Only blip was a temp of 99.8, so I'm keeping an eye on that....at least when I can keep my eyes open. :)

Hi Sharon

Sure I don't have to tell you to take things easy just relax and enjoy the rest.

Billy

Great news that you are doing so well, Sharon! Welcome home, and may you continue to go from strength to strength!

My fever is now 100.8. The incision area looks fine...no redness, swelling, or tenderness. The nurse said if went between 100 and 101, and stayed up, I should call someone. What does she mean by stay up? Can I wait till morning, since fevers often go down in the morning and then come up at night. I'm assuming if it did signify infection that it would stay up regardless of the time of day. I find the instructions to be much too vague. Can someone get more concrete for me?
