Welcome to the BoneSmart family Roxy, I look forward to following your journey through your own thread :)

Hello I'm 19 and I have been told I will be having a Hip replacement, I've been having problems with my left hip for about a year and a half with an anuyrismimal bone cyst which is benign but aggressive, last september I had an operation to put bone cement in the hollow area of the bone, and metal plates along the bone, unfortunately all the cells did not get killed and it came back and ate away the bone leaving me needing a hip replacement because of the lack of bone. I am hopefully getting my Hip replacement within the next month or so. When I was told about needing the hip replacement, I burst into tears because it is not something you don't usually associate with people of my age and I was wondering if there was anyone else around my age who was having something similar. I also have a limp because a lot of the muscle in my left leg has wasted away and I was also wondering if anyone was in this situation and if after an amount of time the limp went away as I feel so embarrassed by it. I see people walking in the street effortlessly and I get so jealous, hopefully I can be like that after sometime.

Hello all you Hipsters, Well so far this has been a painful journey.. I finally got a date set for RTHR on September 10. After searching and reading I realize my situation is not unique but very common.. I would like to thank everyone in these forums for your advice and guidance. Trying to put the why me thoughts to rest and go forward. I pray for everyone to have a successful surgery and everything I have read and told is its up to the individual for your rehab success. GL to all and will keep you posted.. Looking forward to sharing.. Take care and bless you all. Ron

Hi Ron,

So pleased you have got your date.. The next couple of weeks will fly by and soon you will be joining the post op hippies.. I am looking forward to sharing your recovery journey with you.. Good luck :)

Thanx for the support.. Looks like we all will need positive people in our corners.

No problem there Ron.. We love supporting each other.. Take care :)

Morning Hippies.. Well, went for pretest yesterday..Hope all will go good. Again its the waiting game.. I have to say that the surgery date is approaching fast and although I might be scared.. I'm a little more relieved that everyone I come in contact with during this process says that my surgeon is one of the best and people my size do fine.. I'm telling you that I can't wait till I can walk with out pain.. These last 6 months have really taken a toll on me..not working and too much time on my hands..but one thing that I can pass one to everyone, dont be down on yourself. Keep family and friends involved.. I caught myself fallen into depression and this is not healthy. Try to talk to as many people as possible. With forums like Bonesmart.. it gives you a chance to vent and release.. Stay positive and stay in prayer.. We are here for each other. RTHR Sept 10th. GL, God Bless

We have the right to be scared. I think we just have to have confidence in the doctors.. They do what they do.. You will be just fine.. Plus your young and strong.. Prayers

Hi all! Looks like I will be joining all of you in Sept. LTHR scheduled for Sept. 6. Scared about it, but after reading the posts from "the other side", I am excited too. It will be so nice to live without this constant pain. I have been putting up with it for the last 12 years, so I am ready!

I'm here again! September 6th is getting really close. Getting real nervous about the surgery, but still looking forward to a life without this pain! Pre-op was done last Tuesday and then on Wednesday I got a call from the nurse that my nasal swab came back positive! Talking about shaking me up. I have been trying to educate myself about MRSA and its implications. I can tell you it is making me very nervous. Even thought about postponing the surgery. Started decolonising on Wednesday afternoon as per nurse. Go back in on Tuesday to be reswabbed. Hopefully this one will be negative.

Hope everybody else is doing well and not too nervous about their surgeries. We have to stick together and get through it as best we can. Will be thinking of everyone as I mend. God Bless everyone of you.

I'm supposed to have surgery on the 10th and this morning I wake up with a sore throat and sniffles.. Hope it dont slow me down .. Just need to pray for both of us.. GL and it will be OK.

Bigozzie9er...how you doing this morning? Have the sore throat and sniffles resolved themselves. I hope so. Will be thinking of you on the 10th. The 6th is almost here and I am not as nervous this morning as I was 2 days ago. Hope that continues tomorrow and Thursday morning. Take care and keep praying.

My op will be on the 11th and I'm having a hip arthroscopy. Hope all of you who have already had surgery this month are doing ok and those of you who are due surgery having got too many butterflies in your tummy xxx

Good luck Stephie for Tuesday. You will be in my thoughts. Keep smiling.
