THR Sarak - There's Life After a Hip Replacement

@SaraK I will need time to come up with a name! I have had fuzzy brain the last few days. Blood Pressure is all over the place.

The group I go out with is wonderful. Mostly singles but almost all view it as a friendship pool and not a dating pool. We go out, listen to music, dance and have a good time. Probably half of us at any event aren't drinking anything stronger than iced tea. So, yes, we party, but not quite like we used to define the word. It's been a great group for me and has helped me transition from a divorce to a narcissistic, hypercritical, negative drunk (and I use each of those words objectively, not emotionally) back to the person I used to be.

I'm back to being optimistic and finding the good in almost any person (ok, except maybe the ex) or situation. That's helped me so much in my recovery - which is part of the reason I pushed it so hard to be able to go out with them this weekend.

So, PARTY ON!

Back to the salt mines today - "part-time" - but that probably means 30-35 hours this week. At least I can prop my leg up some while I'm sitting at the computer and will get plenty of exercise because the ladies' restroom on my floor seems like it's a city block away.

One thing I won't over do it with is carrying things. I have a huge box filled with documents that accumulated over the week (care packages from the office). I had my son put it in the car last night and will have one of the guys from the mail room retrieve it and bring it to my office.

Good luck to you! Sounds like you are ready and have a plan for you needs. Still can't believe you're doing this after surgery just over a week ago!

So even my physical therapist shook his head and laughed about me going out dancing (which I described as being gentle abductor/adductor exercises) and said he was more likely to need to put a brake on me than a gentle kick in the tush!

The morning at work went well and I still seem to have a bit of steam left. Will leave when I need to, though.

Happy to hear you have the flexibility at work. Don't overdue there...
Need to save it up for dancing on the weekends, lol! :happyfeet:
Boy...does that sound crazy, or what?
@SaraK

Thanks for the song SarahK! I’m not up to typing all the lyrics, but I was singing it at work today. You make me smile @SaraK.

@SaraK were these Care Packages or "Care Packages"? Hehehe

I'm in awe of you....glad your first day was a good one. I had to giggle at the bathroom feeling a city block away. I felt that way from my bed to my bathroom and it's only 2 steps! Hahaha

@danabanana - It might be a slight exaggeration, but not too much of one. The office building takes up 1/2 a city block lengthwise and my office is at one corner and the bathroom is near the diagonal corner from it. Believe me, not a good distance for someone with a small, weak bladder who isn't moving quickly!

I'm exhausted but feel better after going to the gym. You might laugh at that statement, but even with putting my leg up some, it was just too cooped up and curled up all day today. Arrived at the office not using the cane but had it with me. I was glad I did by late afternoon because the muscles had all tightened up and I was listing hard to starboard. Finally left about 5pm (yes, I have a strange definition of part-time, just like I have a strange definition of "care packages") and went to the gym and cycled for 1/2 hour. I've found that using the bike with no resistance really helps to loosen up the joint and the muscles (the SuperPath procedure tends to leave the muscles and joint capsule tight - in part, I think, because they don't dislocate the joint and stretch things out that way).

OK, re-reading the first part of that last paragraph, I hereby announce myself as a candidate for President of the ODIC. I think @Berber7227 may give me a good run for my money, though.

@MammaT - Do not even begin to think I type in the lyrics - copy, paste and edit all the way. That's why I already had one queued up this morning - while I do most of my posting from the phone, I do the songs from the computer. I did the first one last night before I went to bed and saved it so that I could send it out in the am from my phone. By the way, when do you declare your Super Hippie name?

Sheesh ya, between you and @Berber7227 y'all are making the rest of us look like sloths. My big work of the day was stripping and remaking the bed. Quite literally took me 20x as long as it would normally, two 15min breaks, a pee break, small snack, multiple curse words, and a fervent prayer to the whatever/whomever rules the cosmos to please, please, PLEASE find a way to make the fitted sheet not behave like trying to change the nappy of a squirming 1yrold!!!! :swoon:

See @danabanana you just found something I wish I needed to do! I wish there were a reason to strip and make the bed, but I haven't slept in one for 4 months or so and probably only for about 3 months since February 2016. I'm not sure whether I should burn or bronze my recliner when I'm finally able to sleep in a bed again!

and what about @Susan209 - she just quietly goes about her business and finally casually slips it in that she went back to work after a week as well. Not that she said anything at the time, right? So no one could accuse her of belong to the ODIC! But now we know. :heehee:

You are a planner @SaraK! I agree about bike- that was one part of out patient pt I found helpful. I had a friend move my mom’s old bike up from basement to spare bedroom and find it helpful. Am thinking of getting updated version (it is really old) and have set up before next surgery.

Feeling much better this morning than I did last night. Let's hope it continues through th entire day because I'm supposed to be going with a group to an Eritrean restaurant. My dad was stationed in Addis Ababa when I was very young and when Eritrea was part of Ethiopia. I may need to try to doro wat to compare it to my attempt for my son's school a few years ago. Surely it shouldn't be quite as fiery as mine turned out!

Hope everyone has a great day!
