THR Sarak - There's Life After a Hip Replacement

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
What a birthday to celebrate. Two new hips and onto a year without pain.
Thanks for spreading sunshine on BS. I so enjoy your posts and the music.
Oh that music takes me baaack.....so fun, Sara
Be careful mixing the adult bevs with the chair dancing....
Sara in a heap on the floor, with a chair over her, would not be a good look :heehee:
Sending love and a birthday hug :loveshwr::friends:

First, thank you all for your wonderful birthday wishes! The warmth and friendship I have found on this site over the last few weeks has been so uplifting and today was a perfect example.

Second, OMG - I had so much fun! I'll try to post a pic but I even got out on the dance floor, cane and all. Being with friends, laughing, listening to a good band and even dancing was all the best medicine for me today. With no narcotics to deal with, I even got to have a couple of margaritas - hence tonight's song! We'll see how I feel tomorrow. If I'm the current representative of the ODIC, I can rest up Saturday and Sunday. If there are no ill effects, there's another good band the group is going to see tomorrow. . .

:wowspring:Way to go!!! I'm so impressed and so happy for you!!! :happydance:
My birthday is in early January and last year I was stuck in bed with the core decompression - absolutely no weight baring for 12 weeks, so there was no going out far on crutches with one leg, let alone dancing!!! I'm so excited now seeing you out there, I'm absolutely going to make sure I get a fun night out too...bust a move and not a hip! Hahaha :dancy:

Glad you had such a good time! I had to miss a social event last night with my former soccer teammates but I hope to be able to see them again soon. I think I will have cabin fever before long and since we've gotten some snow it's more challenging to get outside.

Well morning's here and I'm a little sore, but not too bad and it was definitely worth it. Hmmm, just taking a look at the lyrics - does this mean I should go out again tonight? Dancing is good exercise after all . . . We'll have to wait and see how fast I recover completely from last night. Yes, @BeBe I've been known to push things to the limit a time or two. I'm also quite stubborn - if someone tells me there's no way I'll be able to do something, I have to find a way to get it done. It's in my DNA and I can't see me changing.

I've scheduled a massage for this afternoon and that will, hopefully take care of any lasting after effects. At one week after surgery, I wouldn't trust just anyone for the massage (sorry Massage Envy, just not happenin'). The friend who is going to do it is a physical therapist turned massage therapist. I should be in good hands, so to speak!

@jaydub63 - Your turn will come. The weather here is cooperating and I'm a bit ahead of you on the days post op. Just pick your poison and recognize your limits. When you're ready to get out, try a small outing first - one that you can leave early if you start feeling tired or hurting and one that's less active and less likely to cause problems. That will help you gauge whether you're ready for the next. And make sure you have the ability for downtime afterwards, because some of us will always over do it when given the opportunity.

What a wonderful post @SaraK
I'm happy to hear you had a great time. And LOOK at you out on the dance floor already.
You're amazing!
Love the song selection, love a Margarita once in awhile too. On ice....blended can give me an ice cream
headache. Happy to hear all the merriment didn't get the best of you.
I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing massage and a great Saturday!

PS you seriously have me listening to the Eagles again. Even looked up their concert schedule. They''ll be in my area in June and I'm seriously considering. Haven't been to a concert in ?????years!
I'd like to see Don Henley before he hangs up his hat....At 70, I imagine it's coming.....Boo-hoo
But look at all he and Glen Frey left us!!

@Layla Since most of us are "of a certain age" we probably have the same musical memories and backgrounds. These lyrics would land with a thud with my son's generation and most of their songs would have no meaning to us. Just a snippet of the lyrics of these, though, have the song running through my head all day (which is why I also generally try to pick positive songs - I'd rather have a happy theme in my head than a downer!

I love that one, too. Haven't figured out yet how to fit that within the theme (unless, by my actions) I'm proving to be the Desperado of this group!

I wasn't planning on trying driving until tomorrow but I didn't have the heart to wake my son to take me to my massage appointment (when my 16 YO wants to take a nap instead of playing on the computer, I know he's tired), so I drove myself. It went well and I feel comfortable driving to work Monday, now. It's definitely liberating to not have to depend on someone else for transportation!
