THR Sarak - There's Life After a Hip Replacement

Just settling back in after my middle of the night ice run. Feeling good other than ready to go back to sleep!

:ice:   Hope it was good!

Hope today is even better :loveshwr:
@SaraK

What's worse than being woken (on one of the few days you can sleep in) by a telemarketer? Being woken by a robotic telemarketer so you can't even complain to them about waking you up! At least I got a back to sleep afterwards.

No apparent ill effects from my trip to the gym or working from home yesterday, so I guess I'll repeat it today.

@BeBe Yes - surgery was just a few days ago. This is comparable to recovery from first. May be helped by my hips going south quickly so I didn't struggle with things for years like some. I also think the SuperPath approach is conducive to quicker recovery. Unlike some of the videos you'll see, though, I don't expect to be playing golf next week!

How is your recovery going?

Just hoping my Superpath next week goes like yours. So pleased it's going well for you.

@mcopt Now that's the spirit I'm looking for - you put a smile on my face and made my day!

Lost sleep over a worthless phone call :tantrum:

I got a chuckle over your comment about the inability to complain to those robo calls.
Worse to me is when it's a human, you attempt to ask them to take you off their call list
and they rudely hang up on you mid sentence!
It makes a bad word come out of my mouth :gaah: But.... it's not GAAH!

Great to hear the extra activity hasn't had any ill effect. You're doing great! @SaraK

Superior recovery @SaraK. Curious you said your hips went south quickly- how long did you put up with them?

I first started having pain in L hip in 2/16 but could no longer sleep in a bed by 3/16. I saw a few different doctors and had xray and MRI that didn't show anything other than maybe mild OA. Pain specialist told me nothing wrong with hip. Tried PT and PT and I were only ones saying something wrong. Saw new doc in 8/16 who agreed something wrong with hip but thought labral tear and/or impingement. Did steroid shot that relieved pain for 2 months but played havoc with diabetes. MRI arthrogram in 2/17 showed lAbral tears, impingement and insufficiency fracture that had collapsed and caused bone on bone. Didn't start having problems with R hip until 5 months ago but sleeping in recliner last 3 months and getting harder to walk. Progressing quickly - found lots of fun bone spurs and labral tearing and bone on bone. Knowing how quickly it could be better, I pulled the plug immediately!

I know I'm doing well, but do they understand I've had major surgery and only scheduled to be out of the office for 1 week?!? It's very busy at my office right now, so I'm trying to help but -
- on Sunday - day after surgery, my boss sends me something and asks if I cabn review it by Tuesday
- I worked at least 3 hours yesterday and again today and have several more hours worth of stuff I need to have done by Monday and
- I get an irritated email from a colleague that is upset that I haven't responded to her email from this morning (which will require printing and reviewing a couple hundred pages of documents and I've already advised her on 3 times so far!

OK, rant over. Felt good to get that off my chest with people who would understand my side of it!

Yikes!!! I'd be rightfully annoyed too!!! Can you set up an autoreply stating you're out of the office until such -in-such time due to Hip Replacement Surgery? Some people can be daft and often then need to have things spelled out for them....maybe include a YouTube link to your surgery in your signature. Hahahaha :heehee:

The auto-reply is there and they KNOW I've had the surgery and am out this week. The link to the surgery might be an idea, though. Or I could offer to do the surgery on them free of charge!

Are you kidding?!! @SaraK
Do they understand you had major surgery? Send them a photocopy of your incision.
It sounds as they they have no compassion and are missing a sensitivity chip
Tell them you're on heavy narcotics and unable to clearly process through a couple hundred
pages of docs without falling asleep.
Give us the address....we'll get after em :fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse::fasthorse:

Seriously?!?
Send them all a link to a YouTube video of a THR... @SaraK

Don't they realize you are conducting ground-breaking scientific research on the medicinal properties of dairy-derived frozen desserts?
