Hey -- thanks for the push... I needed that. Scheduled a date and feel relieved. I have a bad habit of torturing myself with what-ifs... Gotta work on that. Like, what if the arthritis in the knee on the operated side (which doesn't bother me NOW) and/or arthritis in the OTHER hip, which doesnt bother me nearly as much, get triggered somehow by the hip op. Wonder how likely that is. Josephine, do you have any opinions on this? Thank you all, once again, for the support.

Well first of all congratulations.Second,I think your being a little paranoid.Im quite sure the surgery wont " trigger " any other existing issues.Now Im not saying you wont focus on them once your new hip has settled in and healed.For me the 3rd week into my first recovery my other hip was hurting so bad I looked like quasimodo dragging that thing around.Trust us and your doctor,and your decision.You'll be fine,no you'll be great.Im so excited for you.Peace.

Hi guys I hope the world is ready for the bionic Roofmaster - I know this time last year I was in a wheelchair for any trip longer than a few steps, I'm not quite up to balance beam standard (WOWEE to you, my balance has never been good) but not even walking aids now and back to gentle yoga, what a difference. My grandkids think it's great! Go for it shr

Thank you, Nannyannie and Poppet, for the supportive words. I AM going for it on January 17 unless I can't wait any longer. Nanny, I noted that you mentioned using a wheelchair. Well, for the first time I will be using a transport chair when our theatre subscription starts this Sunday because I think that the walk between the parking level and our seats will be too much with my hip pain as it is. So, I've decided to not fight it and just do what makes me more comfortable and less exhausted -- does that make sense? I'm trying to picture life without pain and dreaming of returning to a more pleasant life. By the way, do most people find that getting into/out of a car is a killer??!!
Nanny, it's nice to hear how well you're doing.

Sensible solution Ellen, Pre surgery, it is good to use whatever aide helps with your quality of life, and just think it won't be long and you will not have the bone on bone pain... Enjoy your evening out

I know, RM. But my usual practice is to keep a good eye on people until I know they're okay then I just watch from a distance! Other new members come along that demand my attention ... and so it goes on! But you'll always be one of my 'chicks' and I see you posting wonderful messages to other members. Yes Josephine I understand the "pecking" order

Oh no! It has nothing to do with a pecking order! Heaven forfend! It just means that I think of you as being like my 'patients' as if I were a ward sister (manager) in the old days and I care hugely how you do and how well you get on, always will do. In fact, I still think about my first round of members from back in 2007/8 and wonder how they are doing. In that respect I never cease being a 'mother hen'! (in this country, calling a woman a 'mother hen' is usually mildly derogatory and just means she fusses about others too much!)

So, does this make us 'hippy chicks'?

Sure, why not? Rather cute, doncha think?

Hi @RoofmGlad to hear things are still going well. I haven't been on Bonesmart in quite awhile as I have been spending every available minute at the hospital with my sister who sadly is in liver failure. Today is day 23 and the fight for her life continues.

I missed reading your thread though and went back through the posts to catch up.....very happy to see you are on top of the world...right where you belong!

Im sorry Josephine if Ive insulted you by refering to you as mother hen or implied you think of yourself as such.Im using the interpretation that I believe is conventional wisdom from my parts which looks at a " mother hen " as someone who keeps her chicks under her protective wing.I completely respect and admire your " role " in this cyber world and the real world.Forgive my faux pa.Also I wasnt trying to imply anything negative in my referance to "pecking" order.In all cases I was using words to build up to a crescendo of the punch line of craving chicken.
