Today was a test.It went well.I was more nervous last night than I was before both surgeries.I kinda didnt want it to go well,I was expecting something and had it in my mind if one minor trivial pain or unusual ache happened I was going home and would be back on my original date of return,Dec. 1st.Unfortunately everything went so well Im officially back to work full time.I did 8 hours today plus 2 hours commuting..I feel great.I took 2 Tylenols before I got out of my truck and 2 at lunch.Mostly for preventive maintainence.I have mixed feelings about this.Im elated I was able to do my job,and did it well, better than pre surgery.Im enormously gratefull for these surgeries Ive gone through that have given me once again back my life.Life is so so much better than just sitting around wallowing in mysery with that horrible debilitating hip arthritus pain.Which brings me to my other feelings.Ive really really enjoyed this whole thing, from the surgeries to the hospital stays to the recovery and rehab process. But mostly the way my family has grown stronger and closer because of all this. The twins always jumping on me to my grandson and I tracking deer, the way my sons look at me again, like a force to be reckoned with, the way my wife is always looking at me and when I ask why she says she likes what she sees way more.Hint hint.I met my oldest grandaughter Paiges 1st "boyfriend" last night and felt proud that I terrified him.Now its back to work, the recovery part that allowed me to fill my life with joy is over.Im gonna miss that a lot.Waking up early glancing at my workout log from yesterday then beating it today.Making new workouts, designing recovery meals...its over...its all over.Sure I'll continue to fill my life with joy,and Ive always worked out so these things wont stop but for me recovery was special, this whole journey was amazing. The ups the downs, progress gained progress lost, good days ans bad it has all brought me full circle to the human condition once again, back to thr grind. So for all you who are still in your early phases of recovery no matter where that may be,embrace it,enjoy the process because its amazing, the body which can be our worst enemy can also once again become our best friend.Be careful be strong,be happy.Bonesmarties unite.Peace on earth is not to much to ask for.

Roofmaster Great to see the pic of you back to work , congrats on a great recovery .

I'm jealous , you getting out on the bikes , I'm not far behind .
I know what you mean about the clowns on the road , it's the same all over the world .
I thought I wouldn't get on the trails again because of injury , but the more I've read , the more I'm sure , once I buy a Mountain bike again , I'll be out on the trails again , better than ever :) .

I've always loved motorbikes , fulfilled my dream to race when I was 43 :rotfl: , MAD or what .
I've been on them since I was 11 , did you watch the Moto GP over the weekend , you've got to be young .
We used to use enduro bikes in the forests , had a few laps on an MX track once , scary for the first time .

Enjoy

Day 2.Rained all morning turned to snow by noon.Inside work today framing out walls on a house the guys gut out.Easier than roofing but time drags.Kinda sore today but not a bad sore.Stiff when I got out of my truck at home.Hate the fact that I had to go back so soon but I feel ok physically and mentally I could climb mountains, plus Im broke.PDH63 you raced motor bikes at 43?Your crazy.Cant wait for you to ride again.Peace. Roofmaster me crazy :rotfl: , I had to get it out of my system .
You're never too old to do anything .
Hope you get to climb that mountain soon .
We've a big one climbed already and we're over the other side :)

Roofmaster, you are an inspiration to us all! Your words flow such that when you post it's like you are speaking for so many others than just yourself. You folks that had to deal with the discomfort, pain and not being able to live your lives for so long have a great voice in roof here! As I was only put out for a few months, I can't imagine the years of stuff most of you talk about in your threads.

Keep up the great work in recovery and don't work too hard on the roof!

Thanks inthebeginning Im just trying to set an example.Sometimes I feel guilty as some are having rough recoveries.I cant help but feel compassion for all who have been where Ive been and those who havent made the journey yet.Especially those who havent made the journey. The human body has incredible recuperative abilities if given the chance.I fully believe more than half the battle is in your head.I also believe the easiest part for me and Im sure many others is the surgery and recovery, its temporary, life is permanent.Thats the real challenge.Eeveryone here is my brother and sister and was instramental in the recovery process both mental and physical.I will always be hear.Always.Ok,lunch break is over,I HATE ROOFING.Peace.
P.S. Wont let me download a pic, maybe cuz its so sunny up here.I'll take one in a shady spot. [Bonesmart.org] Roofmaster's new hips, part one

Wow roof, look at you go, right back on those ladders and roofs!
congrats on being back to work,, successfully, and without all of that
pain!
I understand what you say about your recovery, i'm not going to say
i "enjoyed" it as much as you, but there is that factor of feeling better
every day, and knowing that things will get better in all aspects of life.
you will inspire many who read BS and wonder if things can really get
better after surgery, you are living, roofing, proof!
from the sounds of it, i think you will maintain that strong family
life you have, and when you come home from working a long day
and see them it will make you all that much happier when you can
play around with them after working all day long, without that pain.
thanks for the great reports!
:yay:

Hey thanks cnydutch Maybe I should have waited a little longer before returning to work.Im taking it easy as much as I can and vigilant, making sure I dont do any heavy lifting. The guys have been pretty good to me these past 4 days.Im exhausted but the longer I wait to go back the harder it will be.Plus I need to acclimate to the weather.Ive been neglecting my thread monitoring because Im so beat.I'll catch up on all the pthreads this weekend. As for the hips, theres soreness and stiffness first thing in the morning and towards the end of the day.Nothing a couple of Tylenols wont fix.Nights are fine,Im sleeping better cuz Im so tired.I gotta sleep.Good night people.Peace. Roofmaster I know the feeling , I've the same problem with boredom and my sleep pattern all over the place , I want to start driving again so I can get out , I want to start biking , fishing and golfing ( for the first time after 5 years ) . I thought I'd never say it but wouldn't mind getting back to work again as well , I have people covering my shifts and I'll have 4 weeks sick as well , some I've worked up and some I'll owe , I couldn't have afforded to take as much time off if I didn't .

Just a word of advice , that building may fall down eventually from all the extra weight from your pencil :rotfl:

Glad your doing well .

Thanks cnydutch .Spooky times, roofing in the winter. This morning Im scraping ice off my staging thinking why am I still doing this? Then I stop thinking and get back to work.Life is virtually pain free. Some days soreness creeps mostly when Ive done something I reckognize as wrong or to much.Im learning to live with these new hips and enjoy them and make them last. Thanks for bonesmart.Peace. Are you really Santa ???????
:)

Great to hear the pain is gone .
Be careful up there

Hey Roofmaster, I don't know how you get on those roofs with all that snow and ice. I would be petrified. I'm happy you are doing so well! I've been ratcheting up my jiu-jitsu training, no comparison to when I shot my video of me grappling for my story.

Roofmaster How are you doing? Haven't heard much from you for a while. I'm doing fine, tho the second hip is a little slower to recover than the first one,. OS says I'm doing fine, and released me to drive (YAY!), but not to carry heavy stuff like groceries or whatever yet. I go back in six more weeks.

I don't know how you manage with all that climbing ladders and carrying heavy stuff. I'd be so afraid I would fall especially with the bad weather we've been having.

Peace and love to you.

Milli

Roofmaster, It is so great to hear that you are doing so good. I am so glad that you are able to work, I know you had a ruff time before so celebrate your new freedom from pain. I get my last hip next month and then in time I too will be pain free. Take care and you are one of our shinning stars. Take care and do be careful with the ice, snow and all that cold. Tashia

Your grandkids are adorable and I love the igloo! How nice to hear that you are doing so well.
Happy New Year!

Way to go buddy! Glad to see an update from you ;-) thought you were stuck on a roof in sub zero temps!

Hope your Christmas and New Year were fantastic as well! The little ones look great.

Take care!
