I take 400mg magnesium citrate daily for restless leg syndrome and leg cramps. That might be worth a try.

Thrilled to see your recovery going so well! A few surmountable, minor blips! My GP also recommended magnesium to me. Quinine water works well for my mom, and bananas and lots of water hydration. Blessings to you!

PT came again today, this time it was a guy and he was so much nicer than the girl that came Friday. He said he is scheduled to see me the remainder of my 2 wks PT at home, which I am glad of. I tried walking with the cane and a little without it. :tada: He said I am doing extremely well and to use my common sense and pain to guide me in how much I do. He said if I wanted to do some each day without the cane or walker that was fine, but it all can be done at my discretion depending on my strength and pain level. I really amazed myself today being able to walk with no aids and no limp only one week post op. I am allowed to put on my shoes and socks or any other movement I want to try to do, again to let my pain be my guide. This has truly been the most amazing experience I think I have ever had regarding surgery. I still get tired easily but I expected that. Can't lift my leg straight off the bed but that was the muscle that I was having the most trouble with before surgery, couldn't lift it then so I know it will take time to regain strength there. but I am overall extremely optimistic. Oh also tried laying on my left non op side and was able to sleep like that for a little while with no problem. Still staying ahead of the pain by taking meds by the clock and icing and elevating because I know if I didn't have my pain meds on board I doubt I would be able to do as much as I am. So mainly muscle soreness and tightness and a spasm every once in a while but nothing I can't handle as long as I continue the BS mantras. As Dr Toonz says I remain optimistic and in my case truly elated!! :yahoo:You all have been amazing and helped make this so much easier for me by sharing your stories so I was fully prepared and knew what to expect!! :flwrysmile:Love you all, you are awesome!! I am constantly recommending BS to others, even the nurses were interested in it! Had my shower and after that and PT I am done, stretching out elevating and ice!! I'm pooped!!

@mystikfairy61...I have been following you and you recovery threads are amazing...nice to meet you.....you make my decision for this surgery somewhat easier..thank you...I to am anticipating the anterior approach to this surgery. Seeing my Doctor on 2/27 to say YES I am ready...March 10th:scary:..just nervous..bundle of nerves but today I had some inner peace knowing that YES this is a good thing.... keep posting....peace and be well...

@MajorHeidi My wonderful hubby Rob is my designated chauffeur til such time that I get the go ahead to resume driving. He has been awesome but I get to repay it in the next yr or so because he is going to need his left hip done. He fell down a flight of stairs on his left side in 2000 and since then the hip is getting worse but not as quickly as mine did, since my injury was in 2008.

@chaseyboy I am glad that my recovery is making it easier for you. I can honestly say as I have seen others say that had I known I would have had this done some time back. And you and I are close to the same age as well. If you have anything specific you would like to ask me feel free to ask on my thread or private message me if you like. The nerves drove me crazy as well, I got my Feb date back in Dec and had almost 2 months to wait. Thought I was gonna go crazy. I watched videos and read everything I could find but BS was the best find ever!! All of the recovery stories have been what kept me sane during the waiting, which is the worst part by far. I am here for you anytime you would like to chat if you see me online, message me and I will be glad to answer. Take care and keep me posted. Looking for you on the other side before you know it!!

Ok 9 days post op and went on my first little outing today. Had to go to the bank to pick up something, walked in with cane even though I do OK without it. I just feel it gives me a little more stability and support while outside. Then went to Walmart with my hubby, walked from parking lot to inside with my cane and got a cart to ride around the store. I couldn't have done all of the walking inside because I was exhausted just from the short walk I did. Even though I was tired there was no pain while walking, just ready for a nap when I got home. Felt really good to get out for a bit. Got home, elevated with ice and took a nap. It was so nice to walk with no pain!!

Wow Donna that's amazing for 9 days out! Glad you did well though!

PT came today and standing on my operated leg was added to my list. I did it for 15 seconds, was told that this was the earliest they had ever seen anyone stand on one leg, 10 days post op. WOOHOO!!! Feeling really good!!:dancy::happydance::flwrysmile: Couldn't figure out how to post the picture so it is small for anyone to see. One more thing I was able to lay on my operated side last night for a bit with no pain, felt so good.

Cute jammie outfit. where did you get it?
Also, great on the recumbent bike. I have been doing that on alternate days (ahead of surgery)
and i love love love it!!!!
Best!

@MajorHeidi The pj's came from Walmart, they were like $12.99. They are the fuzzy flannel kind with a cute top to match, got them for Christmas, they are comfy!!

I will have to check them out... ok; you don't have to answer, but like did you get all swollen all over so
that normal stuff wouldn't fit when you were leaving? Just wanna be prepared...... smile

@MajorHeidi No actually didn't have hardly any swelling and still don't. It feels like the skin is tight so I am sure there is a little but not noticable. In fact I have never had any swelling to speak of or bruising. A little on my hip but only a small spot, had a drain after surgery and it was almost empty when doctor pulled it the next morning. Read that drain helps with less bruising. As far as my jammies, since I am not out going places it is just a lot more comfortable to stay in PJ's.

well that is good to know. I was figuring I needed something huge to wear home and didn't want
to be embaressed by the stuff I wore in not fitting. haha

@MajorHeidi I know everyone is different regarding swelling and I guess that how the procedure is done and I am sure other things have a bearing on how much swelling a person gets. Not sure if I am in the lucky smaller percentage that just didn't have it or not. I didn't do any exercise before surgery in preparation so I am not sure what caused it but I am thankful it didn't happen.
