Can your daughter not walk to school with a friend till you're more mobile? Although it will soon be Easter holidays.

@speccybecky unfortunately nobody but me to do it. Hubbys been great getting home to pick her up and on Fridays my oldest picks her up as she has half day. Thank goodness there is only a 4 day week next week then i have a few weeks downtime :-) x

25 days post op

I decided to go and try rocking back and forth on the exercise bike. Never adjusted anything on it as i thought i would be just rocking. I remember after my primary having a really hard time turning the pedals months after the op. Anyway i started rocking back and forth then found i could do a backwards rotation without any effort. Then rocked forward a few times and manages a full rotation forwards again with no effort. So i pedalled away for about 2 mins. So very happy . Isn't it amazing the little things we manage that blow you away. I was expecting a fight as i was fighting the pedal forward way past 6 months at the primary. Feeling very hopeful.

Woo hoo! Full rotation!:yes!:

4 weeks

I am continuing on the bike and doing 2 mins a day. Not a lot but i dont want to push it. Walking for 10 mins a day doing the school run. My quad sometimes forgets to fire up and the knee jumps forward giving me a fright lol. But its getting better. I am managing to go up stairs but not down although i know that will come in time. My physio consists of nothing much just the 2 mins on the bike. A few wall slides and sitting on the table using my other foot to push back. I am feeling more hopeful every day that the revision is going to be fine but still have the fear of something going wrong. Still using my cryo cuff and elevating a lot :-)

5 weeks post op tomorrow

So far everything is going well. Recovery seems much easier than i found with the primary. I have 99 degrees flexion which is pleasing as i was stuck at 70-80 as far as 6 months for the primary.
I am glad i followed my instincts as i knew something was wrong. At times i felt like backing out of the revision for the fear of it not working out. At this stage i am glad i did it. I seem to have lost the persistent lateral pain and my knee has lost its stick out deformed look. Have also lost the burning pain i used to get during bending. I am doing very little in the way of physio. Leg lifts for my quad until im sure its strong. Still have varying degrees of post op pain.
Managing to take the stairs up normally so everything is looking positive. My girls are off for Spring break for the next 2 weeks so have no walks to school.
Sat in the car earlier and practiced emergency stops and pedal switching and coped fine but im hanging off until next week to start driving again :-)

Sounds great....just keep taking it slow and steady and the summer awaits......

Just measured after a 5 min session on the bike and measured 113 :-) I am gobsmacked as i never got past 110 pushing it with the primary at a year out. I know it sounds silly to be so excited about that but at 43 i feel like im seeing a light after a good few dark years with this knee.
On another note i have a scab at the top of my wound which caught and dislodged a bit but there is still a plug of stuff going into the wound. Will it be ok? Im worried it catches again and the plug looks like it goes in pretty deep and im stressing i end up with an open bit of wound. The rest of it has healed just the very top bit thats not quite there.

Great!

Why not put a band-aid over it, so that it doesn't catch?

I thought about that. Would it be safe to do that? Im a bit paranoid about germs getting in there lol.

What i mean is wont it make it moist covering it? That was my concern about covering it.

Do you have a small dressing that isn't waterproof? Some of that stuff that steristrips are made of would do.
I guess it's a judgment call - catch it and risk it pulling off, or cover it.

First congratulations on your ROM...I had a little knot protrude from the top of one of my incisions where the suture protruded ...I would put a little peroxide on it and put a band aid and it just fell off one day...

Will raid the first aid box and see what i can muster up. The plasters we have are sealed all the way around. Typical haha.

Ask for the district nurse at your GP practice to look at it if you're concerned. I did, and he took a knot of stitch out.

I had my wound glued so no stitches or staples. It might be a plug of glue and the incision hasnt closed over it yet.

Mine was glued as well but there are usually sutures under the skin to close the tendon and tissue and it is knotted and some time it comes to the surface ..normally it is not only glued

Vinny

And those below the skin are usually dissolvable and do not always completely dissolve ....
