Hinged Joint Revision Complete, recovery continues

Tashia,
Knee doing better, but I am still limited in what I can do. Over do it and I pay for several days with knee and foot pain.
Glad your knee is doing well, keep up the rest, ice, elevation, and your medications.
:tada:

Punkin, I know what you mean about not doing much so you don't overdue it. I'm really tired so I will need a nap. Take care. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

I just recently discovered that you are a physical therapist. And I was thinking that it must be tough sometimes to read about therapists who are not doing a good job or don't seen to know how to rehab TKRers.

I just wanted to let you know that there is nothing better than really good PTs who helps you improve, ROM, gait, balance, and whatever else you might need; and they are truly a blessing.

My experience with therapists has been nothing but positive. With both my hip replacement and my knee replacements, the therapists at the hospitals and who came to my home were professional, caring, friendly, and responsive to my needs. They never caused me pain but got me where I needed to be. They were indeed a blessing to me.

Thanks for checking in here. Yes, we have to take it easy.
Went boating on Tahoe last week, it was beautiful, perfect weather. Knee did fine in and out of the little skiffs to the buoys where the boat was, but I paid for all that moving around at night. Good thing was the discomfort was less than before. I was also happy that I was able to walk to the beach, and up the hill with no problem. Last year I was short of breath up that same hill. The pool 3x a week is paying off.

Pumkin, Tahoe is so neat. So glad you got to go. I wish I could do something like that. Oh well It is as it is. I still feel everything is good but I have to admit I am fighting depression. I know its part of this. Keep in touch. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Punkin, I thought you were online. I guess not. I wanted to try conversation but it didn't work. I am very slow on the computer stuff. I hope your leg and foot is better. take care I need to lay down and get the swelling down. Tashia:bicycle1:

Hi Tashia,
Conversations are more like private messages, I received both of them no problem and responded. Your should have an e mail alert.
Doing fine, actually had a pain free moment yesterday,:yay:.
See you here later,

All three revisionist consultations are behind me and they all said pretty much the same thing.
The implant is one size too large, I should be able to adjust to the overhang.
Merchant view X ray shows bone spur on my lateral knee cap I may need the knee cap resurfaced but not to rush into resurfacing.
Functionally, I have less pain, and can do significantly more. I walked around two airports, and a mall before my last consultation and had no problems or flareups.
My knee feels much like it did for 10 years before it got bad enough for the TKR, which is to say always in some pain, but able to enjoy moderate activity.
My plan now is to wait and see, hopefully function will continue to increase and pain will decrease.
I go back to the surgeon at the end of August for some questions and maybe some answers.
Don't know what I would do without Bonesmart!
Josephine;

This is the second such plaudit today! I am so chuffed for you, really, really chuffed.
Patience won out in the end, eh? :yes!:

Pumpkin, How are you doing? Its been really hot here, I guess its going to get worse. Please take care, but do have a good time. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Have all the up stairs windows open tonite, it's a hot one.
Tomorrow I go to my counselor, to prepare for my OS appointment to have an adequate response.
The appointment is in three weeks, just want my end to go well.
Taking good care here, you take good care too.
Ice, ice, elevate, rest, and medicate. The two ices are one for the heat, and one for your knee!

Punpkin glad to hear you are ok. With the heat on it sure takes the energy out of you. Tommarow i need to go and get some sewing stuff. Not sure I want to go outside but I get cabin fever in no time if I stay in. This week is going to be a hot one so do take care.:puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Have developed a strategy for the upcoming OS visit to keep the appointment productive.
Would rather jump and down and say what were you thinking, but do not think that will get me any answers.
So instead will ask questions about how I can obtain the best result with the implant as it is, and hopefully lead to why the larger implant was selected.
Today was active, had my niece over for swimming, lunch date, and walking around the Hot August Nights show and shine car show.
:bicycle1:

I like your plan. It really would be nice to know why a larger one was used. It was a hot one. Have signed up for some sewing classes. did more driving. When the heat wave is over I will start swimming I hope. I just don't have any engrey. I know its the heat. Take care Pumpkin and have fun. :puppysmooze:Tashia:bicycle1:

Pumpkin, Hows the weather been? Now that you are more active hows the knee and foot? Thank you for all the support. It means so much. I hope to be in Tahoe this Fall but looks as if I will have to wait till Spring. I don't want to force myself and get into trouble. I know you have a appointment coming up, hope it goes well. So do take well and continue to get well. :puppysmooze:Tashia :bicycle1:

Tashia,
Smokey here from all the fires, the wind blows the smoke over us.
Getting nervous about my appointment on Monday, but am prepared for what ever happens. Would be nice to know why the larger implant was used. Barometer low today, so knee and foot are having a pitty party until it goes higher.
Tahoe will be here for you in the spring.
Thanks for checking in,

Finally after all these months I tried 2 exercises at the gym I had done before with poor result. This time I felt better afterwards, and did not wake up in the middle of the night with knee pain, WOW!:happydance:

Hi Pumpkin,

Congrats on the exercises experiment, it's nice to have little surprises like that!

Whenever I have a difficult conversation coming up, I find if I stick to the facts and ask questions around them, I get much better results. This may not exactly fit your situation, but hopefully it will help.

I wish you the best of luck on Monday and look forward to your update. Until, then be well!

Dawn

Thanks Dawn,
Came back here tonite to re-read your post to get ready for tomorrow. Plan to stick to the facts, and keep calm.
Thanks for the support,
